“Good Samaritan ministry is just that! It's a ministry that helps others. While some of the donations that they receive are used for the basic needs of the men involved in the discipleship programs, many of the items donated are placed in the thrift store and sold to the community. The proceeds from these sales are used to subsidize the various costs of the ministry such as taxes, maintenance, fuel, insurance, utilities, and mortgage payments for buildings. The Good Samaritan Thrift Store also serves an important function in the rehabilitation process of the men on the program through job training. They learn the value of a good work ethic and obtain skills that will relate to their future employment opportunities.”

“This is my favorite thrift store in RVA! Great selection, fair prices, kind employees, and a wonderful mission. I stopped by the other day and the owner was incredibly friendly. All long-sleeve shirts were $2 which is a fantastic price and some items were even 50% off. This place is truly a gem and I hope it sticks around for many years. Wishing the owner and this store many years of good luck. Will be back soon!”

“A fun variety of stuff, especially kids toys! Great place to spend a Sunday afternoon. Really nice folks. Also they provide help with loading up furniture and such.”

“This store was a very cool find. They have some estate stuff as well as some newer things by artists. The prices are reasonable for the most part... that is a personal preference but for us most of it was reasonable. Some of it was high. What is nice is that if some of the stuff stays around for a while- the price drops and the price tag has the dates it drops. There is a wide variety of things... furniture, mirrors, art, plates, etc.The people that work there are very nice and helpful.I have told several people about this location! We go every month or so to see what is new.”

Great Customer Service, Great Items, and most Importantly you feel Welcomed to shop there.”

“Great thrift shop with low prices! Had furniture, home items, and clothes.I was confused about the pictures posted under this location's reviews because they seemed like family pictures and not of the store. But I went anyways and glad I did! Will definitely be returning”

“Furniture prices often start out high, but they get marked down regularly. Good pricing on other items, and they mark everything down regularly. The store always has a large inventory. Not the cleanest place. All items in the store are 25% off every Tuesday.”

“Great shopping experience always:) I would say one of my favorite places to thrift in Richmond. The staff is super friendly and the store is always clean. You can find great pieces here and I love the staff picks section. If you love thrifting this is a place to stop by.”

“Best thrift store in the Patterson / Tuckahoe area. Good selection of books and stationery, and both are cheap. It is my solemn conviction that decent-condition used paperbacks ought to go for fifty cents each, and Thrift For Life meets that benchmark. That alone puts this place above the other two thrift stores on Patterson Avenue. Furthermore, the sign out front notes that all proceeds go to the Massey Cancer Center, which is a worthwhile beneficiary. The other two thrift stores fund local church outreach organizations. Best of luck to them, but honestly? I'd rather my money fight cancer.Anyways, in those categories of things that I purchase from thrift stores, Thrift For Life has both a decent supply and reasonable prices. Besides all that, it's a nice and cozy place. Highly recommend.”

“Pretty cool place. They always have something. On my last trip, I found a canister for my utensils, $4! If you need a scarf for your furrbaby, they have them by the register for a dollar! Shoes, clothes, crafts, furniture, records, books...jyst a great selection. Found a funny little ninja fart guy. He's still there ?”

“I enjoy walking around and checking out what they have to offer. Furniture, lights, rugs, all kinds of stuff for the houseCleaning supplies, appliances, cabinets, doors, and windows. This is a great place to find a treasure. Even if you don't buy, it's always fun to look at what's new.”

“Goodwill prices are high all across the board, and this location is no exception. However, their merchandise is less picked over and the staff is really friendly which make it still worth the trip.”

“I support the Children's Hospital of the Kings' Daughters (CHKD) Thrift Store with my goods donations, because they provide not only quality care for children's, but also assist families with a low income with their Percent Reduction plan. They have a nice discount of 25% off on everything Tuesday.”

“I just left with 2 designer men's blazers for $12.00. The sweet lady behind the counter helped me to choose the correct size and was so cheerful and pleasant. Thank you, Miss Carolyn. You're awesome.”

“Well-organized with lots of merchandise, but overpriced. A couple items caught my eye today but the price was too high for me. Dresses for $25, men's shirts $10-$20. Target brand dress priced at $10 when you can almost get them on sale new at that price. It made me sad. Prices were significantly higher than when I had last been here about a year ago. I used to love coming to this thrift but I probably won't go back.”
