12950 Troupe Street, WoodbridgeI cannot speak highly enough about Crossroads Animal Care Center and their incredible staff. We are new to the area and weren’t sure where to start, so we called about nine different veterinary offices before reaching out to Crossroads. From the very first phone call, everyone was so kind and pleasant, and they made sure our urgent concern for our pup was taken seriously. They did everything they could to accommodate us and were able to squeeze us in for an urgent care evaluation. They then scheduled our girl’s surgery just two days later.
One of the things that really stood out to us is their beautiful outdoor area, which they use for dogs who are terrified of being inside a veterinary office. Our dog is extremely anxious at the vet, and they were so thoughtful about her needs. We were able to have her assessment, vaccines, and blood draw done outside, where she felt much more comfortable. The staff was patient, kind, caring, and genuinely compassionate throughout the entire process.
Every bit of information they provided was clear, thoroughly explained, written down for us, and communicated every step of the way. During our surgical visit, the staff took the time to educate us about the procedure, offered comfort and support, and called us with updates throughout the day. Knowing our baby girl was being cared for and receiving updates gave us so much peace of mind.
The facility itself is beautiful, clean, and easy to get to, but it was truly the people who made this experience so exceptional. At the end of our visit, they even gave our girl a toy, and she absolutely loves her toys! It was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture and honestly made our day.
Everyone we interacted with was amazing, but I especially have to give a huge shoutout to Tiffany, one of the nurses. She made this entire process feel so much smoother, cared for our pup as if she were her own, and was simply an amazing person. We are so grateful for the kindness and compassion she showed our girl and our family.
Thank you so much to Crossroads Animal Care Center and your entire staff for giving us such an exceptional experience. You have officially gained customers for life, and we will never go anywhere else for our fur babies.

I immediately knew without a doubt that Dr. Shackelford was going to be our vet going forward. She has been with us through the loss of two of our dogs due to age and even sat with us on the floor, crying and comforting us when we lost one of our beloved hounds. We have moved out of the Woodbridge area but that hasn't stopped us from making the drive so that our pups get the best care and attention not only from Dr. Shackelford but from the rest of the incredible staff at this location.We always feel like we have her undivided attention, she listens to our concerns, answers our questions and gives us her honest advice and opinions. When we have needed referrals she has provided great recommendations. We would follow her anywhere in the DMV if it meant we were able to ensure our dogs were able to receive their care from her.

Taking my senior girl to the vet can be incredibly anxiety-inducing because there’s always that fear that one day I’ll be told it’s time to make an incredibly difficult decision. During our most recent visit, the Veterinary Assistant, Diego, was so friendly, patient, and compassionate with both of us.
While comforting my cat during her exam, Diego took the extra time to gently clean the eye boogers from her eyes. It may seem like such a small gesture, but as a pet parent, those little acts of kindness mean so much.
During our previous visit, Diego was the one who told me that she had lost weight. He could immediately see how upset I was, and instead of simply moving on, he took her to the back and reassured me that they had weighed her again to make sure they had an accurate reading. That extra effort and compassion meant more to me than he probably realized.
When you have a senior pet, you remember the people who treat them with genuine kindness and care. Diego is one of those people. I’m incredibly grateful for the compassion he has shown my girl and for making what can be a very stressful experience a little easier for both of us.

What happened next is why I wanted to give them 5 stars. They showed our family so much grace and compassion it's been hard to put into words. They explained what they could, but most importantly gave us all the time we needed with Ruby to say our goodbyes, even giving me time to go pick up my kids and bring them in. Then today I get a mailed card with hand written notes from the staff offering their condolences. Wow.
If you want your pet to truly be cared for, this is the place. Thank you to everyone at OBVH.

I literally was less than a week away from putting my retired Service Dog down due to pain from injuries she received in an elevator accident a few years ago— an accident that put me in a wheelchair — and a long-time friend reccomended Dr. Levitsky and scheduled our first appointment with her.
Dr. Levitsky, Dr. Key, and all the other wonderful staff there completely changed my Service Dog’s life. My Service Dog needed to be taken in and out of the house by kid’s snow sled to use the bathroom, and her strong, twice a day pain medication wasn’t helping all that much. After treatments and supplements that specially help her injuries, she’s still lame, but is running and patrolling her yard, and doesn’t have to be picked up and placed in my minivan anymore— she can get in on her own (though she’s obviously finds it challenging, but she’s happy to get in and out). She knows the names, ‘Healing Paws’, and ‘Golden Paws’, and runs to the door when I tell her it’s time to go!!!
She loves going both places and cries and whines terribly if I deviate from the long drive by stopping at a fast food drive in or gas station, or reroute for traffic.
She remembers all the staff that pet her and she showers them with kisses. She’s even able to roll on her side and lift both her front and back legs to get belly rubs — she hadn’t been able to do that for a year! Their vets and techs will get right down on the floor on their big fluffy fleece blanket covered doggie beds to treat Onyx and give her love and attention. The best part is that she stays much more limber for nearly a week!!! She did best on twice a week underwater treadmill therapy while the Government was shut down, but we are once again week while I’m working, and I still see a significant difference in Onyx’s movements and physical abilities.
I credit Dr. Levitsky and her personnel with saving my Service Dog’s life — she’s so much more comfortable than she was, and can sleep through the night without waking up whining in pain. She even snores deeply at night again — she hadn’t dine that in the months before we went to Dr. Levitsky.
I can get emergency appointments both places, too — something that was incredibly difficult at my regular vet that misdiagnosed my dog’s issue as a genetic, degenerative nerve condition — despite my dog’s history of spinal injury. My regular vet would just say to go to a dog emergency hospital for her lameness when it got worse, even though my regular vet’s name had, ‘Veterinary Hospital’ in it.
I loved how Onyx was helped, so I moved my other Service Dog, and a family member’s Service Dog, to Healing Paws for their routine vet care. My Great Pyranese, Sirius, loves everyone there just as much as Onyx does, and received his annual physical, vaccinations, and heartworm and flea prevention medicine with Healing Paws. Their staff even keeps him occupied if he comes with me for Onyx’s visits — because she’s not working at their vet office and is, ‘Free Dog!!’, there — she gets territorial about her, Healing Paws ‘people’, that she appropriated as hers.
Their staff even accompanies me to my van if I’m having a bad day with my spinal injuries, to make sure I get in safely, because I have to load my Service Dogs in first, and some days have trouble.
They are worth every single moment of my hour-and-a-half drive each way!!
I can’t say enough nice things about Dr. Levitsky, and Healing Paws and Golden Paws!!!

Unfortunately the puppy is a very high-energy breed. Carla is clearly both brave and caring. She went for many lessons to train the people (more dad, who think dogs should be spoiled) and the dog. The food was amazing, the staff were friendly, and even though the building is a bit run-down, I personally feel like that just adds to the old-diner charm. Their pricing is also, especially these days, quite fair.
I had their Reuben, and it was phenomenal. Whenever I try a new diner, I measure by their Reuben. This passed beyond a doubt, and I cannot wait to try their other offerings.
My BF and I were there later in the night, and we had a casual conversation with (I think the manager?). Very personable and fun to talk to.
