“My husband and I frequently shop here. We're non-Afghans and not Muslims. We've always been treated fairly and kindly at this store. The products are excellent, I often recommend this store to others for their selection of affordable and quality cooking spices and other international cooking ingredients--a good place to find things like rosewater, vanilla powder, saffron, and other great spices--with better quality and freshness than the big box stores, and much better prices than the big specialty grocers. They're also always improving the store's selection and organization. On my last visit they were carrying some fresh produce which is very convenient, and the quality was excellent.”

“The smell of freshly baking bread is a delight. They've got a tandoor and when you buy some of the Afghan bread he pulls you a fresh one out of the tandoor that is piping hot. They've got some spices, raisins, currants, and nuts for sale too. Their grocery selection is a bit sparse and their hours are seemingly erratic but the bread is delicious and the baker seems to be a nice fellow. The price for the bread is pretty cheap as well.”

Especially because you can find a lot of organic products like I got lion's mane.Rishi mushroom and wheat grass. Everything is organic and doesn't expire for another year and for over half the price that I would have paid online or elsewhere! You can not beat that, and the quality is still good! “I love this place! I've been coming here since I was a young-ish kid, and I'm 25 now. Even though it ain't what it used to be (no more additional cake bakery and no EBT) it's still a Kent Des Moines classic. it's one of the few places that has withstood the test of time in the area. I mainly come for groceries and pan, but I've had their tacos once or twice and they're amazing! The man who usually is at the cash register is so kind and accommodating. He's helped me out on several occasions where maybe I had the wrong change, used a non working card, or even dropped a whole tray of bread. He's a very good worker and makes the place run smoothly, and even though I don't even know his name he's a familiar face and we have a nice customer-salesman relationship.”
