They always gave me great customer service and advice. Have always been super friendly without the pretension you get most everywhere else. Just nice people, still.”
“Great place we frequent for Italian and other fun European imports and specialty foods and great bulk spices and flours. Fresh/frozen pastas including ravioli and tortellini are our family faves. And their incredible cheese counter, fresh feta and delicious olive selections are unsurpassed! We’ve shopped a lot in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco and Big John’s (PFI’s) selection is as good - or may I just say it - superior to many of the Italian shops there. Plus super friendly staff who really know their stuff here. Once we found our way to their new Dearborn location ( underground parking, then circuitous hallway leading to the store) we decided that although change can be difficult after 30 years of shopping at the same place, we actually really prefer the new store!”

“Didn't have what I needed in stock, but will order it for you and it gets there in a day or two.Great spot to grab all sorts of stuff from dairy, meat, seafood, fried mushrooms to candy to whatever.Anytime I have a big BBQ or crab boil my first stop is here as they can order you 10lb cases of king or snow crab for prices better than Costco or the grocery store.
