“Had an awful day yesterday and busted my tire on the pike. After trying to change the tire by myself in 5 degree weather I decided to go to the gas station and try on more level ground. Within 5 minutes a gentleman helped me change the tire and put on the spare. I offered to pay for his gas or get him a snack inside and he told me no. Had to pump it up at the air machine, but didnt have any change and the card reader wasn't working. Went inside and offered to pay for something to get change for the machine and a worker named Kristy gave me the change from her own pocket. I always buy Farm Fresh Mozzarella sticks. The same brand, the same amount, and Kroger's was at $13.99 then they just raised it again to $14.49 but yet at Walmart, same brand, same amount and it's $10.38. I understand prices are going up, but before they even went up, Kroger's was 10 times more expensive then any grocery store in Morgantown. Price gouging is what it is. It actually baffles me how much more they charge than other grocery stores in Morgantown. Price gouging should be illegal. Kroger's items are no better then any other grocery store. Same brand etc. This place is always so busy, I only shop here if I absolutely have too. Busy isn't the word for it, but I find it odd, that so many people shop here knowing they price gouge. And to the Karen/Ken that decided to take up two spots today Jan 15 2021around 12:30pm, when there was absolutely not one parking spot left, I hope you get stuck in the snow. “The Mid Atlantic Market may ruin every pepperoni roll you may ever eat again. These are incredible; others will only pale in comparison. The pepperoni is thick-sliced and of good quality; the crust was excellent. They warned me I would need a pile of napkins, and they were right. The staff is very friendly and rightfully proud of their food. We also bought a box of their cheesecake brownies; between these and the hot pepperoni rolls (with cheese), I could die a happy man. I can think of far worse ways to go! They also make a wide variety of biscotti that also looked very good, but we had more than we could handle, so I will try one on another trip. We did get a bag of the cheeseless cold pepperoni rolls to take home. I haven't tried them yet, but I am looking forward to it. We will return when we are driving Route 68; they are just off the road. We will return.”

At least REA listened to me and wrote me a lens prescription. BOTH REA and Spectrum let me walk out with broken glasses and weak lenses. When I arrived at Walmart Optical (a full month and a half after my first appointment at Spectrum); Abby was incredible helpful in picking out proper frames. She took one look at my glasses and said "Would you like me to fix them? It will only take a sec." And it did. Plus the cost was a third of what frames were at Spectrum. I highly recommend Abby at Walmart Optical 75 Retail Drive, Mgtn., WV. She went above and beyond in service and competence. So refreshing after the poor service at Spectrum and REA. Walmart wants your groceries at the door before the ice cream softens. On May 29, the retailer said its 30-minute-or-less delivery had reached 33 U.S. markets, adding a wave of new cities across the Northeast. Shoppers in those areas can order from more than 100,000 items, everything from fresh produce and baby formula to pet food, electronics, cold medicine, and prescriptions. Behind the scenes, the service leans on Walmart's store network and an algorithm that factors in order size, available drivers, and distance from the store.
Trader Joe's keeps adding stores, and shoppers keep showing up. The California grocer has marked nine more locations as "opening soon," pushing its expansion into new corners of the country. The grocer also took first place in the American Customer Satisfaction Index's 2026 supermarket rankings. It has held a spot near the top of that list for years.
Target is rolling out its most ambitious store overhaul in more than ten years, with plans to remodel over 130 locations and open 30 new stores across the country this year. The retailer is also putting money into supply chain technology upgrades to keep pace with how shoppers buy today.
Kroger is spending $112 million to build two new stores and renovate 15 existing locations across central and northwest Ohio. The company calls it a "record-breaking" commitment to the region. The two new Kroger Marketplace stores will rise in Canal Winchester and Delaware, Ohio, each costing roughly $30 million to build. Kroger broke ground on the Canal Winchester location on March 19 at the southeast corner of Diley Road and Greengate Boulevard. The 118,000-square-foot store is expected to open in late fall 2026 and will create around 250 jobs.
Loblaw Companies Limited is putting serious money into its retail network this year. Canada's largest food and pharmacy retailer announced it will spend $2.4 billion in 2026 to open new stores, renovate existing locations and strengthen its supply chain. The company plans to open 70 new stores in 2026. That includes 34 Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix pharmacies and care clinics, along with 31 hard-discount No Frills and Maxi grocery stores. On top of the new openings, Loblaw will renovate another 191 stores and continue construction on a roughly 1.2 million-square-foot automated distribution center in Caledon, Ontario.
