Tails of the City Dog Spa
1215 Cranston Rd # 1, BeloitThere are many reasons I go to Lisa. 1. your dog is always the only one there no crates. 2. I have a very hard to groom doodle she's so patient with her & she does a great job. 3. Also helped me figure out a skin issue that vet didn't. She has yeast problem on her skin. so Lisa gives her yogurt bathes that have helped so much. Give her a call you & your dog will love her.

Madison Road Veterinary Clinic
1800 S Madison Rd, BeloitI used this vet for the first time and was highly impressed with Dr. Oldenburg and all of the staff. Granted the outcome wasn’t good. Dr. Recommended let’s try for 2 weeks to see if things changed. I’ve never felt such compassion with the staff on my decision. Thank you for your help and guidance on making the right decision. I would recommend this the vet. Clinic to anyone.

Hacienda San Miguel
1817 Prairie Ave, BeloitHacienda San Miguel is my favorite Mexican spot! The service is always friendly, the food comes out fast with quick drink refills, chips, and salsa. I always get the strawberry margarita on the rocks (with that amazing tajín rim) — usually two because they’re so good! The Choripollo is incredible — tender chicken breasts with peppers and onions, homemade chorizo, and melted cheese. It’s huge and lasts me three meals. Even the warm salsa is delicious — I always take some home for the week!

Road Dawg Family Restaurant
2956 Milwaukee Rd, BeloitThe Road Dawg Family Restaurant is my dad's regular Thursday spot, and he brings me here every time I'm in town. Located right off the interstate, it has that classic highway diner feel. The main sign on the pole has definitely seen better days, and the place as a whole feels a bit run down. As you walk in, be careful of the trip hazard at the entrance--it's a bit uneven. It's a little "divey," but don't let that be a dealbreaker. It's just an observation, a reminder not to judge a book by its cover. Note to management: Some minor fixes could give it a little more curb appeal. Stepping inside, you'll see the main dining room and an old buffet area that I assume hasn't been used since COVID. It's all a bit dated, but clean and functional. They serve breakfast all day and have a full lunch and dinner menu as well. Even though it was a relatively busy Sunday morning, we were greeted and seated quickly and didn't have to wait long for our initial service. Almost before I could take a sip of my no-frills, bottomless cup of $3 coffee, our giant portions of breakfast arrived. It was an omelette kind of day for us. We placed a special order for my dad (he's got his usual), I got the Denver Omelette ($14) with jalapeños, and my stepmom ordered the Meat Eaters Omelette ($15). They opted for toast, and I got the pancakes, which were a meal in themselves. While the prices have increased significantly since my first visit, the large portions are big enough to share or take half home, which is exactly what we did. We were a little ignored and never asked if everything was as expected. We did, however, get coffee refills and eventually received the bill and some to-go boxes. Another note to management: The bell that incessantly rings every time someone comes or goes needs to go! By the time we left, I was anxious and extremely tired of the bell. I feel sorry for the employees who have to listen to that all day long! Overall, this place does a good and honest business. Aside from the bell and the slight dip in attention, we enjoyed our meal.

Rock River Newfoundlands
S Riverside Dr, BeloitWe move back to Wisconsin and we knew we wanted a second Newfoundland that would be able to learn from our first Newfie girl Bella. I found Rock River Newfoundlands reached out Danielle thinking it would be awhile till we had a puppy but she reached out to me letting me know there was a puppy available that was born on my fathers birthday who just passed away a few weeks prior. We figured it was a sign and brought home little Izzy in February 2022. She has been such an intelligent, silly little sweetheart ever. We definitely love our Newfoundland dogs and they will be our breed of choice and will use Rock River Newfoundlands again when the time comes for another one (hopefully not for a long time would love my girls to live a long healthy happy life).
