“It was really a great shopping experience. I was asked about three times how I was doing and if I needed help in finding something. It is my store now! So clean and bright!”
“The best place to grocery shop, especially near the UW campus. There's a convenient bus, BCycle station, and (limited) parking. Extremely busy on the weekends, especially during the school year - definitely recommend avoiding if possible. Like all Trader Joe's, products are amazing, in-store ambience is great, and employees are very knowledge, friendly, and welcoming.”
“Large selection of bulk items. Well-stocked meat department. Produce is fresh. I like the spaghetti squash.
Prices are pretty good. Parking is easy.”
“Great supply place if your having or putting on a large party or a large gathering of any kind Gordon's is the place to get what you need. They remodeled since we were here last and it looks great.”
“if you live on langdon, and don’t stop by and see these guys once in a while, you’re missing out. the staff is absolutely amazing (always super friendly) and the sandwiches made to order are perfect as well. open till midnight too for any late night needs!
Parking: No parking in the alleyway, you could get towed. Find a street spot if you can, but this place is really for walkers mostly
Wheelchair accessibility: Non wheel chair accessible, but if you call i’d bet they’d run the order up to you”
“Woodman’s Food Market offers a wide variety of products, making it a great place for grocery shopping. The fruits and vegetables section stands out, as it is cheaper and has a larger collection compared to other stores. However, the egg selection is limited and slightly more expensive than other places.
One downside is that there is no dedicated halal meat section, and the fish selection is also limited. Despite this, the store’s huge space makes shopping enjoyable, as you never feel cramped or rushed.
The store operates 24/7, but after 9 or 10 PM, only self-checkout counters are available, with minimal staff present to assist. So, if you prefer staffed checkout, it’s best to visit earlier. During the daytime, the store is quite busy, making shopping a bit challenging due to the number of carts in motion. However, evening hours are much quieter and more comfortable for shopping.
There is ample parking space, which is a plus. One minor issue is that the app’s product recommendations don’t always match what’s available on the shelves.
Overall, Woodman’s is a great choice for fresh produce at reasonable prices, but if you’re looking for halal meat or a wide fish selection, you might need to look elsewhere.”
“Best prices around on the West side of Madison. The only price competition in my driving world is Costco in Middleton. Sometimes the pumps are so busy that customers are lined up trying to guess which one will open first, but that wait is worth it.
Discover cards are the only charge cards accepted. Debit cards are accepted.”

“Can get most of what we need here for better prices than most other places. Can't get everything we need but a vast majority and the products are good quality. Aldis has come a long way from where it was 30 years ago.”
“This place is great! Easy in and out, very quick unload. Took about 25 minutes from check in to green light. The guy on the receiving dock was awesome. They are a FCFS facility, final time for receiving is 1400, starts at 0630.”
“Owner is changed recently and they increased prices a little bit, still cheaper than Lee's oriental.
However, some items are more expensive than ordering from Weee now.”
“Great family run market with a nice selection of SE Asian foods. There is also fantastic deli that serves all of the Hmong favorites, with many made to order items as well as grab-and-go items. I like to get spring rolls, egg rolls, pork belly, Hmong sausage, and sweet noodles from the grab and go area. The larb is made fresh to order and takes time. It can be made with chicken or beef (both include tripe), with sticky rice for an extra charge. Its one of the best larbs in the city. The place is family run so don’t expect a ton of formality. The larb and other made to order items take time, but are delicious and worth the wait. It can get busy and they frequently sell out of items, so call ahead if you are in a hurry.”
“Absolutely love their Deli Mart. It’s some real Asian food that feels just like I’m back in Chicago. I tried their Bulgogi Plate, Roasted Pork Plate, and Pork Lumpia. All three are just so tasty. I’ll be a frequent customer just for their food. ?”
“We came here primarily for the floral department, which is expansive with a broad selection.
Do not come here for the lowest floral prices; however, they did a really great and expedient job of arranging a cut bouquet for our baby elephant planter (shown). It's only money.”
“Usually has what we are looking for, items moved around sometimes and can be difficult to find. Some items pricey. But I like going here and the products are good.”
“Love Capitol Centre Market for its location and good selection of items. They have pretty good weekly deals and always have some items on clearance. The staff are professional and helpful. Certain produce items are really expensive though, for no clear reason. Like zucchini is $4-5 per pound even in the summer, when its dirt cheap everywhere else and anyone with a zucchini plant has more than they know what to do with. Also yogurt is consistently more expensive here than most other places.”
“This grocery store has been here for years now, I enjoy coming here for fresh tortillas coming out of a tortilla maker close to handmade. Is busy on the weekends. Has different things to choose from and a small restaurant inside. Only thing it can get crowded on busy days wish was a little bit more organize also when you buy stuff make sure you check the expiration date. The most of I spent on a meal for a family of 5-10 people close to $70 that includes drinks and fresh salsa and carnitas and tortillas and cheese. And a piece of cake.”
“The store is very well organized. The merchandise is always nicely stocked and the store is very clean. Fruits and veggies looked really good and fresh. I found the staff to be very helpful. There is starting to be more of a variety of organic items, which I like.
Pleasant shopping experience.
Thank You *”

“Bombay Bazaar is a convenient spot for finding desi products, but the prices are quite high. Since there is no direct competition in the area, they tend to charge higher rates for all products. For those looking for an alternative, So Freshmart offers similar products at $2-$3 less than Bombay Bazaar.
One of the main reasons I visit is for fresh vegetables, which are available every Tuesday after 5 PM. However, the selection is limited and repetitive, with the same items appearing each week. I mainly go there for fresh green chilies, but if I find another store with better prices and a more welcoming atmosphere, I would likely switch.
Another inconvenience is that card payments are not accepted for purchases under $10, which can be frustrating for small purchases. Additionally, the store itself is very small, making it difficult to shop comfortably when there are a lot of people.
Overall, Bombay Bazaar serves a purpose, but the high prices, small space, and payment restrictions make it less appealing compared to other options in the area.”
“Very grateful to have 4 downtown grocery stores in Madison. Shopping here will get you most of what you need, with items like produce being fairly reasonably priced. There is a good selection of canned goods, unlike at Target on State St. However, I find the pricing of some items to be predatory. A gallon of milk is more per unit than a half gallon for some reason. It’s like they think customers just won’t notice they’re paying more for no reason. I’ll just buy milk elsewhere. Chicken nuggets/patties are like $7 per pound, more than actual less processed meats.”
“Good selection and best prices that I've found. The dumpling selection is quite extensive.
When you walk in, there is a distinct and pleasant smell. It doesn't matter what day or time, there are always customers. Even so, checking out is quick.”
“I’ve always loved their honey and decided to try their candles. I went to the farmers market, and bought tons of candles to last the winter. They do not disappoint! I made sure the first burn was a good solid one (google beeswax candles first burn), and am very pleased. Did I mention they are cheaper than the ones I used to buy?! And local?! And family owned?!? If you really want to have a melt-your-heart experience watch the video on the website of the family featured on the news.As for the honey, I really enjoy that they sell it in glass jars as one of the options as I find it easier to cook with and just easier to use all around.Highly recommend!”
“Great place to stop in late at night and grab some snacks. I’ve been living on state street a few years now so the convenience of the location is 10/10. The workers are very polite and I’ve never had a problem here.”
“I love drinking kvass and this is the only place locally that carries it. They have a great selection of European foods, I usually pick up a few snack items while I'm there.”
“Great location and super friendly staff. I prefer this location over the other one down the road. Never a bad experience. I only wish that they opened earlier. 5 AM is too late on many days. 4 AM would be much better for my schedule.”

“This was an Asian market that was very close to my brothers house. We had planned to make Korean army stew and this market had all the fresh vegetables and ingredients needed to make the meal. There is nothing really negative I can say about this place other than the fact that it is on the smaller side.”
“Other chain grocery stores have been ruined for me by Metcalfes. My cart was full of items I had spent years looking for at other places. From Duck fat, to quark cheese, to Swedish potato sausage, they had it all. I also found lions main mushrooms, Japanese sweet potatoes, and many other yummy items. They also have Babcock dairy items. Any Madisonian knows that some of the best dairy items ever come from Babcock Hall. They also have more local produce, meats, dairy, and bakery items I've seen in one place outside of a farmers market.”
“Today, we were looking for some fresh baked goods. I called and Karen said they had fresh croissants. She was kind enough to hold two of them for us. Thanks to Karen. She is the rock star of Regent Market Co-Op. The croissants were so fresh and delicious. Excellent experience!!”
“The garden Asian market is a super convenient grocery where you can get most of what you need to cook Asian thought here in Middleton.
The vegetables, dry goods, canned stuff, sauces, treats are great. They also carry roasted meats (Cha shu, pork, and duck)
In the back there are 5-6 hour dishes that you can buy to take home... Pretty authentic fare it seems. I've tried the chicken feet and they were delicious,
Parking is easy. Staff is fine. Be aware that They still require masks.”
“I really like this store. They all are friendly. But I didn't know they sell cheese cake in the deli and it is so good. The only thing I don't really care for is the higher prices there but that's a nice store.”
