“Fantastic books store! I've been visiting this book store with my husband for 3 years or so. We always have a plesent experience and walk away with plenty of new books. I look forward ro the new release wall. There is always something on the wall that peeks my interest. I love the fantasy, sifi, and horror sections. The fiction section is huge and they also have a sizable classic section. Staff as added special notes under thier favorite books throughout the store; adding helpful reviews, and a kinship. The sore has recently expanded. The young readers area is almost a store itself.”

“Didn't have enough money to leave a tip, so here's an honest and positive review! Got to stop by for first time in years accidentally making a wrong turn in downtown 😆. I took the chance to stop by and it's still the same amazing quality and service as always! I have to get the Mad Hatter coffee everytime I come and its always amazing. ((Also ty to them for never taking it off the menu. I was really surprised to see it was still available 😆)) Also really love the quick and easy to grab spell bags ❤.”

“Barnes & Noble is one of my favorite stops, especially when I've got Grim, Carrie, and Ember with me. Those three absolutely love this place, and somehow they always manage to find exactly what they're looking for. Watching them disappear into the horror section and come back excited with another stack of books is worth the trip every time. On this visit, I got to treat all three of them to new books, and seeing how happy it made them was the best part of the day. The store is always clean, well organized, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable whenever we need help tracking something down. If you're a reader, especially a horror fan, Barnes & Noble is hard to beat.”

“The actual experience INSIDE the bookstore couldn't have been better. But I had been calling every day for almost two weeks to check on the status of a book I needed for class. The only reason I called so frequently is because I couldn't get anyone to answer the phone most days or return ANY of my voicemails so I stopped leaving messages. 4/5 seems very fair to me considering how this all went down.”

“Kinda dark in the back if you know what I mean? Eleven bucks get you in there and if it's busy it's a good time - otherwise might be a bit lonely. Might spend more if movies aren't playing also. Bring tissue if you need it.”

“These are not fair reviews! My grandparents own this bookstore and they are getting a bad rap? They started out back in the 60’s with a very classy place. Then the seedy element started coming in and the neighborhood changed. But they had a mortgage and gave the customers what they wanted. I’ll tell you that place saved a lot of marriages, because if a gentleman is touching his flower he isn’t touching someone else’s flower. I lived there in an apartment with them in the back room for most of my life. I even made folding money by cleaning the tears off the floor those sad men wept in the booths. Nana did the books and Pop ran the show. And he is a fine man! Raised me up while my mama was in prison. And I still live here now that nana is gone and Pop is getting too old to run the show. The city of Birmingham should give our family an award for staying in business for so long AND pumping tax dollars into the economy. So yall just shut it with that talk about this fine business!!!!!!!”

“This is the place for everything UAB. The bookstore has all of the UAB swag that you could ask for. There are bargains to be found if you look for sales and closeouts.”
