She took her time listening to my needs, looking up my previous assessment and purchase, offered multiple ideas for pairs that would be a good fit, and then spent nearly 30 minutes with me as I tried on almost 10 options. She took my feedback seriously and made a genuine effort to find me the right pair. You don’t always get excellent service like this, and I appreciated it deeply, especially as running shoes are an investment nowadays! Very happy with my experience and purchase at this location.”
“I’ve been here now four times and Matt is, by far, the greatest associate I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with at any storefront in a long time. There’s never any pressure to purchase (although I’ve bought three of my four visits), he’s extremely knowledgeable, friendly and willing to shoot the shit. I love visiting Dainese over cycle gear because the employees are always well versed on the specific brand products (fit, features, performance etc). “I had a great experience with Joe at Sports Basement last week and wanted to recognize him for going above and beyond.
I originally came in to return some items, but while browsing I started looking at hydration reservoirs and had a number of product-specific questions. My friend and I weren’t very familiar with the differences between the options, so we were trying to understand which would best fit our needs.
I first asked an employee nearby, who said he wasn’t sure and would find someone more knowledgeable. A few minutes later another employee came over, but when I explained my question, he shrugged and said he didn’t really know, suggested it was probably a simple labeling or product difference, and then kept walking without engaging further. I continued browsing and chatting with my friend about it.
A little while later, Joe overheard our conversation and went out of his way to come over and ask if he could help. What stood out to me was that he didn’t pretend to know the answer or give his best guess. Instead, he was honest that he wasn’t sure, but showed genuine interest in helping figure it out. My friend and I had quite a few product-specific questions, and Joe listened patiently to each one and gave very thoughtful, in-depth responses. He took the time to really understand what we were looking for and helped walk us through the differences in a way that was clear and helpful.
To me, that’s what great customer service looks like. Nobody can know everything, especially in a store with such a wide variety of products. What matters is being willing to help, being honest when you don’t know something, and making customers feel heard. Joe did exactly that.

When I first went in to buy a nice putter he was refreshingly honest, “Sorry to say this but you don’t need a new putter, you need to learn how to putt.” He saved me a ton with that comment and he ended up selling me a gap wedge that was extremely reasonable. More recently he only charged me $75 to replace my driver shaft with a custom, stiff shaft. I could not recommend Grip It Golf more highly!”

The man who worked there was so helpful, he answered all of my questions about what shoe would be best for my needs, and provided help on sizing. He was very patient and pulled 5 different pairs of shoes for me to try on. In the end, I found the perfect fit. Will be back for my next pair!”
“The person who helped me choose running shoes at Renegade was so great! I am just starting as a runner and noticed my feet tend to roll out, so I wanted some help choosing new shoes. The guy asked a lot of questions and gave me four options that took into account both my concerns and also my previous shoes. I have been so happy with the ones I got. Also, really appreciated that all the pairs he brought out were in the same reasonable price range so I didn’t have to evaluate value in a product that I don’t know anything about. I’m an active non-athlete so I am often doing hobbies and sports that I only know a little bit about, and I really appreciate when people who are experts are just kind and non-judgmental!”

Good prices but more importantly, they really care. They give advice and listen tirelessly to your experience on the water in order to give you tips to correct bad habits and improve skill. “Happened to find this place just walking by. Found out they opened about 6 months ago. Was very impressed with the staff and how much time they spent with each customer. Scan your feet and help guide you which shoes "should" fit best. It was a little off (needed half size bigger), but staff seem knowledgeable on different models. Also offer community events which is a plus. Ended up buying 3 pairs of shoes for me and my mom since they currently have a sale. Will gladly refer others, as it's nice to have find a good shoe store in Alameda”

“As I company, I'm a big fan of T9. Love their brand, their products, their real-women athlete models. I had my first in-store experience in years when I came in to return something that I ordered online which didn't fit. The store did not disappoint. The associate who helped me was assisting others when I walked in, so I looked around for my replacement jumper. They didn't have it, but it was no problem. Within a few minutes, the T9 associate had processed my return, ordered another in the right size, and helped me order a pair of shorts I'd been eying in the catalogue (after trying on the size and deciding on a slightly different length and color). Both would get delivered to me at home for no delivery fee. I'm not sure how much the return and second delivery charges would have been, but I was happy to not find out. Now I'm so excited about my new summer jumper and shorts that will be coming soon!”

“Decided to take the plunge (well many plunges) and learn to wing foil. Matt was an awesome instructor for my first lesson. I was hooked. The next day, I met with Jane to buy gear. She was very patient ( as I barely knew which end was up ) and made recommendations for an appropriate board and wing for my size. Again, she remained very patient as she walked me through the set up and inflation process. We were rewarded at the end of our session with a beautiful onshore wind and we were both able to get out on the water. (Well, I was more in than on). There is nothing that can compare to the personal service provided by Boardsports California. As I progress, and my equipment needs change, I will be consulting with Boardsports (by phone , chat or Zoom) since I’m not local to the Bay Area) . They are experts on the water and experts in passing their knowledge to their customers.”
