“This store has some real hidden gems. There are food and snack options here that you really cannot find anywhere else on my recent trip to the store. I found arrowhead water in aluminum bottles. It was a very rare surprise, and I was quite intrigued to find such water in an aluminum bottle, but needless to say everything is really well priced since it’s kind of like a secondhand grocery store the staff and all the employees are really nice, friendly and very accommodating.”

This location has a little bit of everything. Great, low prices. But most prominantly, the staff. This group of employees are ALWAYS friendly, always helpful, always smiling, sometimes they even brighten my day if im having a hard one! They make the whole environment a welcoming and friendly and the experience a positive one. Whomever does the hiring n firing n put THIS group of employees together at this specific DG - somebody should definitely give THAT person a raise! Id choose to go to this location even if i lived clear across town! Overall i give it a 12 outta 10.”

Tabitha went totally above and beyond by clearing out an entire top shelf for me, checking the back for more, carefully packaging each one taking her time, and loaded them in my car. “I visited 4 different Dollar General's in Bakersfield and found that they are meccas for the homeless and pan-handlers, located in poorer sections of town. The hot sellers are toilet paper and laundry soap at bargain prices. I enjoyed shopping there during the holidays and found some great Christmas items for good prices. I downloaded the APP to get some other coupon discounts. Bring your own bags or pay 10 cents a bag. The location on Wilson Road does not have shopping carts. The restroom at the location on white lane was a disgusting mess. The location on South Chester has the smallest floor space and narrow aisles but was well stocked. The location on Brundage is a market with a larger floor space and a small selection of grocery items. They assisted a homeless man by watching his personal cart while he shopped. This was an act of kindness, however, just be aware to lock your car and watch your purse. The main reason I would shop there is for seasonal items.”
“Years ago, it was under different ownership and these two guys were brawling inside! I mean, ketchup, flour, fruit...EVERYWHERE! They made a huge mess and it ended with the one guy tossing the other onto a checkout line belt and yelling "PRICE CHECK ON A JACKASS!" before leaving...”

Wish it was safe to go there because there’s always drugged out homeless people by the front door. I hesitate to take my grandkids because I don’t feel safe. Security is needed ASAP because today I went and two homeless men were doing drugs. Please clean it up too because there’s trash everywhere and stacked by the trash can.”

“I would give more then 6 Stars because it's such a great store everything is actually 1.25 that goes for the sodas and candy their all 1.25 instead of most stores at 2.99 or 3.99 which don't sound like much but that adds up a lot so it's a great place to save big money and as my home is nextdoor to it in the apartments almost all employees know me so I'm more then a customer over there and at prices of all 1.25 or 1.75 it's so good for shopping for junk food or even art supplies and cleaning supplies and foods dispite the air conditioning always broken it's just the best stores I been at”

Picked up 40 extra strength pain reliever Acetaminophen 500 mg for a 1.25$
It wasn’t Tylenol .. The brand is ValuHealth by Spirt . Worked very well with pain I was experiencing .

“I love this place. There are so many different types of asian things here, including snacks, plushies, tupperware, toiletries, and more. There are many useful things that are sold at a great price, and Miniso is also my go-to spot for getting small gifts for people. They also have korean makeup brands and the cutest and sturdiest press on nails, a lot better than target or claire’s which is next door. I got a cup and it is very sturdy. They also have rechargeable 100 watt power banks for mobile devices.”
