“I don’t know why comments are so negative. I opened an account here and it was really efficient, the Manager is really nice. I contacted her a few days later because I needed a document and she sent it to me in the hour. They have very good offers to open an account, especially when you’re paid by UC Berkeley, and even if you’re international. There is also a nice bank app. For now it’s perfect !”

“Very good customer service and really good staff. Problem. Runs out of cash at the ATMs. Happened over the weekend of May 4th. 2025 around noon. That seems to be systemic with Wells Fargo these days.. They used to be 100% reliable. As far as cash at ATMs cuz I would give the past 12 months on 90% reliability. That's really sad for one of the largest banks in the United States”

“I usually don't write a lot of comments but for this particular place I will after all this nonsense from people. I come here twice a month to cash my check. I have never had a bad experience with any of the employees. But on the other hand most of their customers are so DEMANDING. They treat employees like trash and not like human beings. I have witness several times customers being impatient, disrespectful and using profanity towards them. I understand that we are all going through difficult times but it doesn't mean that us as customers are to treat them badly. It seems like nobody has ever worked in customer service nor understand what happens behind the scenes. Yes there is always room for improvement but non of us are able to judge!!! Because people write down things here but never share how they approached the bank employee- did you arrive yelling? Did you demand instead of listening?. I only want to say. Analyze how you react and treat people like you want you to be treated. Not because we are customers it means that we get to treat people who are putting their life's at risk and leave their family like trash. I truly believe in karma and what ever you wish for will come back to you. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO BE HUBBLE NOW IN DAYS????????”

He was followed by the manager who introduced herself which I thought was very cool. I mentioned to them that I was at a branch in the next town. But this one's more convenient to my house and was told that. I'm very welcome to do business with him at any time I'd like.I like customer service like this. It's nice to see some place that I can walk into and feel like a valued customer. And don't misunderstand me the people at the bank that I'm currently at are just as nights. This one just happens to be closer to my house.They will definitely see my business again.”

“While setting up my "Complete" business checking and savings account, as well as business credit and debit cards. I had excellent service, precise, helpful, and efficient from Ms. Minu Shreshtha. I highly recommend her. I also feel safe using the ATM inside and have had nothing but polite, helpful service from everyone else at this bank. After searching around for quite a while for the best bank for a business account and cards, it was refreshing that the biggest bank around is so appropriate. For personal accounts, I'm very satisfied with my local credit union.”

“This branch is one of the best in the Bay Area, and there seems to be one every couple of blocks in the City of San Francisco (where I live) so saying this branch is one of the best, if not the best in the Bay Area is a huge thing to say. This branch is ideally located downtown and easily accessible, for me it's half a block from my office and thus makes for baking during their hours happen. One thing about this branch to which I dislike is the fact that without warning they close and have out of service ATM with no alternative branch or ATM option posted. Overall a good branch!”

“The branch on Solano and Colusa is really great. And the people that work there are fantastic. Everyone there knows me. Now don't get me wrong. I don't love Mechanics Bank, I don't love pretzels or the Eiffel Tower. For me love is personal and the beloved has to be breathing. But after banking at Wells Fargo and having the same teller ask me for my ID year after year was draining. That's when I switched and I've been at Mechanics ever since. I didn't know that it had been bought out which usually is a disaster. Look at Peet's as an example of how to completely ruin something. But the same people are still at Mechanics and they've always been top drawer in my dresser, so to speak. Plus, they laugh at my jokes.”

The bank-tellers and workers make more than up for the rough and sketchy block they got assigned to by higher-ups and city planning. Helpful, friendly, clean (inside). Outside: Bank customer's personal safety does not seem a priority to Bank of America HQ or Berkeley city planning. PS.: It feels like an outpost in the Wild West there”
