“As first time home buyers, we were very nervous about the process. We weren't sure where to start, or if it was even possible.Enter Jay. Jay and his team made a nerve-wrecking process a very smooth and transparent experience. It was honestly painless, and so much less stressful working with Jay. He has excellent communication, and is very easy and pleasant to work with. I would recommend Jay to my friends and family, and look forward to continue working with him!”

“Super friendly staff, doing there best to help in any and all situations. I've been a client for 8 years and rarely have I seen a line. This place might be the best-kept-secret in Oakland. Also, they approved my loan for a 3rd moving truck. Thank you Dale Marie, Beka, Vince, BJ and Daisy, you're the best!”

“I had the greatest experience with Patelco with the help of Ms.Jackie Jordan.I had become a member of Patelco services a few months ago and as my financial advisor Ms. Jordan assured me that Patelco would help me every step of the way. When my situation changed and I needed to buy a car online and being computer illiterate I went to her and she graciously spent over thirty minutes helping me purchase my dream car. She saw past my insecurities and talked me through it. She is a beacon of truth and help that we don't see everyday.I am grateful to of met her those four or five months ago and look forward to doing business with her and Patelco for years to come”

“I just want to say a big thanks. The teller molly really made my horrible situation a lot better. I run a restaurant in Berkeley who banks with CBOTB. Due to some unfortunate events my wallet was stolen. So no ID etc.. I've been in the bank many times to cash my check. Molly was very helpful with allowing me to cash check with my picture ID in my phone. She could have easily said no ID no money. But she was very understanding of my situation thanks again molly your the best.”

“Quality/Quantity - I was not going to write a Yelp on them, but this is my second visit in a month and both times have been a 5 star experience. Previous visits were negative (years ago). Our favorite branch is SF Geary with Katrina the branch manager. She is amazing; one of the two best employees of the company in my opinion!! Too bad that location is closing or has closed.Kieth was good, took care of all my needs in a very timely fashion. The security guard was even better; she greeted me in the parking lot, walked over to open the door for me, and went out of her way to say goodbye when I was leaving.Oh well, no coffee or fresh baked cookies today? Kieth said the cookies got burned...My previous recent visit was just as positive; sorry I did not get names. But the security guard, an older gentleman, also went out of his way to open the door for me. Atmosphere - Good size branch. Small size parking. But plenty of metered street parking.Service - See above, your team has improved so much at this location. I look forward to coming here more often.Price - N/A. Well, I might be coming back for some foreign exchange currencies for my next travels.Owner Suggestion - Congrats on your success since 1985 with 84 locations, S&P 500, and Russell 1000.2007 - Merrill Lynch acquired.2008 - Bank of America acquired.2010 - Private equity acquired.2010+ - More confusing acquisitions, above my pay grade to explain, please Google if interested.2023 - Chase/JP Morgan bought your assets and will be converting many of your locations.”

“Gregory saved my day!!! I was being so patient and getting no results??? He handled my problem and left the door open for follow through! Promote him plsThis is still my favorite bank! The bank manager called me this morning with a reasonable explanation, I was very appreciative! I was intially patient because I had faith. Mistakes happen, and this bank has had my back in the past and I have theirs! I appreciate a neighborhood bank that has me feeling like I live in a small town! Blessings”

“Did you know that Citibank does free notary if you have an account with them? I recently experienced exceptional customer service at Citibank's Fruitvale branch in Oakland. Maria Martinez is the manager and she and her staff are very professional and courteous. This location is at the Fruitvale BART transit center. Se hable Español.”

“The service quality was truly exceptional from Branch Manager Sheetal. I stopped into the location at 180 Grand Ave to inquire about a line of credit on my home. She welcomed me with a big smile, and provided me with all the information I needed to apply for a loan. I only went in to ask for information, but I felt like a long time customer all because of Sheetal's service delivery. Great service is hard to find these days but this location of Bank of Marin definitely carries it. I highly recommend her and this location to everyone.”

“From now on, I'm never banking at big banks anymore! I switched from Chase to Metropolitan Bank and am loving it. The employees are nice and even remember my name. During the first few months, when I was settling in and forgot to make a payment, they called me to remind me so I would not incur a late fee. Now that's customer service! Their rates are also much better than what you can get at other banks. I told my sister and now she's transferring all her accounts here too.”

“This is like a bank from another time, when men were men, and women were women, and little fuzzy things from Alpha Centauri were little fuzzy things from Alpha Centauri. It's like a bank from a movie where the director said "I need a cute little American Bank from the 1950s", and then the forgot to hire extras so every time the main character goes into the bank there are literally no other customers and everything gets done immediately by the friendly staff who have literally nothing else to do but take care of you personally. They even have their own little cute parking lot that always has a space. Really. I'm not making this up.”

“If you're looking for 24 hour customer service, branches everywhere, and being yet another cog in the machine then don't bank here. I banked at Wells and a B of A ... after 23 years at Wells and one mistake at Wells I find out how fast it is I was considered a useless piece of shit.Does the call-center always know what it's doing? No. Was it a little wonky to set up a corporate account? Yes. Is it slightly problematic that their call center is an open all the time? Yes. Do I not like it that with a business account I can't call the call center on the weekends? Yes.And I absolutely loved coming to this branch ... every single time. I felt like a person. I felt like I was treated like a person. Sure my tiny little bank accounts mean little to these banks but to be able to go into a branch, be known, and have pleasant conversation with the bankers is a real joy.I actually am enjoying that Mechanics Bank isn't perfect but what I see is an organization that's trying. One of the bankers informed me that they actually go to peoples homes! So, if you want to meet real people check out mechanics.”

“I've been a Patelco member since 1981. Service is generally great, and friendly, however, we need to open a branch in Benicia and Vallejo. Closest Patelco is in Concord Ca.”

“I really appreciate the manager, Wendy and the staff here. There was an issue I needed to take care of but had overlooked and instead of letting it go through all of the bureaucratic wheels until I got a letter in the mail too late, she called me. They are hyper efficient at this branch so I know she doesn't take her time to do just anything. I've never gotten that kind of service from the huge banks. When you're trusting them with your money, you should like your bank.”

“Love this place. We just moved our business account here after our previous (small, local) bank was less than responsive during the pandemic. We feel very well taken care of here!”

“I have had some GREAT customer service at CNB. They've gone above and beyond to serve me and I will always think of CNB when I need a loan or want a checking account that isn't one of the giants (WF, BoA...). Go here if you want to be treated kindly. They helped me get out of some fees which felt great. Never tried to sell me products I don't need. Also, their HELOC interest rate was super low compared to other banks. Go here!”

“I recently opened personal checking/savings, joint checking/savings, and a business checking account at First Foundation. I was initially attracted to their high savings interest rates, but working with the team at the Oakland branch (Yvette, David, and Justin) has been fantastic--they are knowledgeable, responsive, and friendly. Ever since I left BofA 13 years ago, I've been struggling to find a small bank or credit union that still had the capabilities of a large bank--I've finally found that with First Foundation. Their online experience is superior to any of the other banks that I've used. I strongly recommend checking out First Foundation.”

“I am not a customer of Citibank but had a check from a Citibank customer from another branch. The help from the staff in cashing the check I brought in was comfortable and friendly. Required some additional ID and approval from the branch manager. All in all, the lack of waiting time, the helpful staff and perhaps most of all the excellent customer parking made this a excellent bank experience. The Laurel District is notorious for difficult parking. Good example is the Bank of America across the street. Very difficult to find a spot, or the need to feed the meter when trying to use that branch. Very nice that the busy Laurel District has two full service bank locations.”

“This is going to be a touching review. Long story short, I'm trans male, transitioned in my 30s, moved to SoCal to do so and decided to come back home a few weeks ago to the more accepting and less polluted Bay. I'd closed my Citibank account four years ago due to both lack of locations in SoCal, and my ex-wife having my account information and seeing debits from her two months after I left her and the area, which is no fault of Citibank's (the location problem out there is, though) Anyway, Bank of the West is very convenient out there, but INTENSELY inconvenient out here. Staff had always been nice to me at this location, to the point they entertained my attempts to acquire Cantonese as my fifth language. I'm mixed and 'vaguely ethnic" looking, to steal phrasing from The Colbert Report, and with that as well, and my Japanese name, as there aren't many people with Japanese full names in Oakland (just last names, and thank internment for everything related to lack of Japanese-speaking community in Oakland) I was memorable. I knew they'd remember me, even if I don't look anything like I did before. And honestly, I was a bit unsure of how it would go. Traditionally, China had more than two genders, but in the mainland, Mao was very homophobic, and Hong Kong was ruled by Britain, the colonies being the inventors of queerphobia. So it can vary, just like with, say, white Americans. My legal name is yet unchanged, and I don't want to pretend to be a stranger if I can help it anyway. When I told the head of the bank who I was, he said "wow! You look different!" WITH A SMILE. I said that I feel better now. He was glad to have me back, and decided to chat with me while I waited for the person who would help me open an account. We talked about Chinatowns throughout CA and other small-talk things. The woman who opened my account was respectful of my new name, and everyone was just so accepting. I mean, it's as it should be, but it's just not often that way for people subject to so much oppression and alienation. I definitely made the right decision, and am glad to be back with Citibank Chinatown. P.S., the security guard was surprised when I told him the phone store next door used to be a treasure trove of a video store. Still sad about that.”
