“Generally, a great locally owned hardware store that I’ve supported for years. But a suggestion for management: last night I had to buy a screwdriver just before closing. When I was walking down the aisle just after 8pm, an employee hollered, “Hey buddy we’re closed.”
I get his point and am sympathetic to young people wanting to get home after a day of work.
However, it would’ve been better had the employee said “Sir, we’re closing now: can I help you find something?”
This is vitally important at a time when more and more retail is going to online stores. I want to continue supporting local business, but I do think local business needs to be more aware of how important it is to continue to support and court their walk-in customers.”
“Amazing service, this is the best rental place in and around Davis! We had a big project constructing a shot put pit with hundreds of square feet of sod removal and installing decomposed granite. All Star Rents provided us with excellent service and all the machinery we needed. The sod cutter was great, the sod removal was smooth and fast. We also used the auto tamper for the gravel base and DG. It made the work over two days go without a hitch. Very knowledgeable staff. Patrick was super helpful and provided clear instructions on how to use the machinery. The machinery came fueled up which lasted for the whole job. BY the way, the sod cutter is one heavy machine. I worried about how we'd fit into our vehicle, let alone lift to load and unload. But the machinery came on a small trailer which made the loading/unloading and transport so convenient. Picking up and returning the gear was quick and easy. We picked up on Friday evening and returned on Monday morning which allowed us to start the work early and finish as late as we needed on the weekend. A fantastic deal! Definitely recommend this, as it took the pressure off whether we'd be able to complete the work in time. All Star Rents is a hidden little gem of Davis DIY. Highly recommend.”

“I have been buying tools from JB Tools since 2019-ish. They have competitive pricing. I primarily buy automotive tools and some general hand tools. The clearance section is something that I monitor on a regular basis,40-60% is a great thing. Usually get tools within 10 days business days. I am actually about to place an order. They added some new new things I would like to buy.”

The staff are always very helpful and go out of their way to help you find what you are looking for. I have found the bathroom to be kept fairly clean.”
