“Took my 2017 Mazda6 here after I had random instances of my car not responding to acceleration. Putnam Mazda gave me a $1000 service quote for spark plug replacement + fuel intake system cleaning without even opening the hood. Gibson at Automotive City drove the car, took a look under the hood and said he didn't find any obvious issues. Since the issue happened randomly, he just asked me to bring it in the next time it does happen. For now, he just did an oil change + tire rotation and charged a very reasonable price. He was straightforward throughout and answered all my questions patiently. I don't know if my acceleration issues are solved, but at least Gibson was honest about what he found and what he could do. Why allow to put in discount code if just going to require it a checkin for appointment. Should say make sure to bring in any coupons for discounts.”

“A few months ago, I took my 2018 VW Atlas in for an oil change, tire rotation, and recommended 40,000 mile maintenance. Their mechanic left air in my brakes and, as I was driving to work, the brake pedal went to the floor and I was unable to stop my vehicle if it was going at speeds above 30mph! When I drove back to the shop, needless to say, I was not happy. After leaving it to flush the air from the brake line, Jim (service manager) apologized profusely and summarily fired that mechanic (who also said I needed rear brakes replaced, which Jim inspected and said was not the case, saving me $600+). Jim then gave me two free oil changes as compensation. They do excellent work, are communicative, and, as is clear from the above, have INTEGRITY!”

“I have been getting my cars serviced at this shop for many years now. Over time, I get to know Wally more. At first he does not appear very friendly to his customers and that is basically the reason why some of the reviews here point out that he is rude. To tell you the truth this guy is not rude. He just has this "direct to the point" attitude and he does not sweet talk and get you to do services that your car does not need. He cares for his clients and won't charge you arm and leg for any auto service. Very decent pricing, honest, always ask you before he would perform any job to make sure you are okay with it. I always feel confident and comfortable bringing my cars to Wally for service. The only time I brought my car somewhere else was the time when he was closed for about a month or so and my car had all these lights go off so I had no choice but to bring it to a different auto shop. Norfolk Auto Service is a great repair shop to have in San Mateo.”

“Amazing service. We called Jesus at 8:13 Saturday December 31 (NYE) about a window busted out of our car which needed to be fixed immediately because an atmospheric river rain storm was filling our car with water. He called around to multiple warehouses, most of which were closed for the holiday weekend, found a warehouse with the glass we needed, drove to pick it up, and replaced the broken window before noon. “When my 2015 Outback started sputtering while accelerating at lower speeds, I took it to Carlsen Subaru and they couldn’t diagnose it. Stevens Creek Subaru told me it was a coil pack, which they replaced, but that didn’t fix the problem either. They did discover seeping engine oil and quoted me such a massive bill that they suggested I buy another car. Thank goodness I found Barinder and Boxer Specialist. He discovered Stevens Creek put in the wrong coil pack, resealed the cam carrier and my Outback is running perfectly again. From now on I’m only going to Boxer. I highly recommend.”
