“Great place to pick up Benjamin Moore paints. I order online and pick it up to avoid wait times (which aren’t that long but I always end up leaving with things I didn’t intend on buying ?). Great customer service and they do occasional sales! Grateful this is my neighborhood hardware store.”

“I appreciate this place :). OSH is old school and much more pleasant experience than other big hardware stores. They have all the basic. More specialized things might call for other stores but this is my go-to whenever possible.
Finding someone to help isn't always the easiest but it's likely because they are helping someone else.
I always get great support and friendly people.
Philip Rogers was working temporarily at the Ashby store from his normal Moraga location... And he was awesome. We tracked down exactly what I needed and had a great conversation to top it off about the history of sound recording for movies and music in Emeryville/Berkeley and some of the trailblazers in the area (which he is one of).

“Last week, I purchased a pizza slicer from another store, but it broke when I attempted to use it. I came to Laurel Ace to get a replacement because I know that its products are sturdy.
Marcos, the associate who assisted me, not only directed me to the proper aisle, but, to my surprise and gratification, TESTED the slicer to make sure that it would hold up! As if this wasn't enough, I also told me that I could bring it back if I had any problems.
I ALWAYS get great service at my neighborhood Ace, but young Marcos is among the BEST associates who I've ever been blessed to deal with. You can NEVER lose by going to Laurel Ace, particularly if he assists you.”

Went to home depot about a week ago to get a part for screen door..the latch that handle clicks into. Omg..what an ordeal..they dont have them..you have to buy whole new handle with latch. All i had was a hundred..OLDER woman on outdoor cashier says..20 40..80..3..i said wait..she takes it back and reads it out right..then accuses me of stealing a red bull i had in my mobility scooter when i came in..IM 70 FGS...TOLD HER I LIKE MINE WARM..SO THEIRS REFIGERATED?..SHE SHOULD PICK IT UP AND TEST IF ITS WARM..ONLY THEN DID I REMEMBER...MY GOD...TRUE VALUE..OWNER .
