“I've been eyeing this bookstore for quite some time and I'm so so happy that I finally made the drive over. Rep Club is a black and woman owned independent bookstore that has so much thought and intention behind their space. It's evident in their wide selection of inclusive and diverse books, art, music, and unique gift items. I picked up Act Your Age by Talia Hibbert because I really enjoyed her other book from the series. I'm also a huge fan of Bell Hooks ('About Love'!) so I picked up Communion. Lastly, after practicing some self control, I picked up my third and final purchase of the day, a vegan cookbook! So excited to dive into my reads. Can't wait for my next visit!”

“My new favorite local neighborhood bookstore. The selection of books is excellent... new and used. They have great gifts and wonderful events. And the staff is all so lovely. Love this place so much!”

“This most extensive collection of romance books with subgenres of any type you like. Bought way too many books. It was too hard to narrow down to just a few when the selection was so excellent. Charming space as well. Check out the historical section!”

“Yes, just yes. A living breathing used book store with poetry and danger, hidden corners that call you to get lost, and the ringleader Tony who will make actual real unhurried conversation with you and maybe an espresso if you are lucky. This is an affordable used bookstore for the kind of people who love dogeared annotated books pulled from forgotten Nantucket libraries and the occasional first edition signed collection of Anaïs Nin. If there is still some magic in L.A. buried under the tech spawn and YouTube stars in their luxury box apartments, the doorway would be found here.”

“Literally one of my favorite used bookstores. The interior is nice and cozy and i spent hours in the romance section. I absolutely love the vintage books there and you can always come out with a treasure or two. The staff is very friendly and are definitely fellow book lovers. Also there's a cat! What more do u need?”

“I have never enter this store but I did wait for my brother in the car meanwhile he got a Siddur for me. I observed how the owner walked with my brother towards the books and probably explained to him what the book was for. It took me a while to read the Siddur. Know that I read it every morning and night, I’m very happy with it. May God continue to bless this shop. ?”

“Selection for faith based products are plentiful. Also a wide selection of different Bible editions and journals. The women working the front counter are super friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable for the customized messages on gifts. Will definitely recommend to others and come back myself. Thank you.”

“I just came in to kill some time and scanned on the books they offer and I was overwhelmed by the vast selection I saw. This shop itself is well cleaned, well organized and well thought of. End up buying one book haha, so worth it! Plus the staff let me be in taking my time as well as helpful when I inquired. I highly recommend!”

“Located in an amazing spot, right next to a coffee shop and walking distance from the beach. There is meter parking out front. The perfect combination of a self care day of picking up a good read, getting a cup of coffee next door, enjoying the outdoor seating between the two spots, or heading to the beach to enjoy the new read. They do have a few reading spots inside the shop as well. A bookworms happy place, the bookstore is cute and aesthetic with plenty of variety and options. Good value and prices that comparable to other bookstores and chains. I loved the notes that they had which gave more insight and suggestions to reads. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful in providing book recommendations. I ended up chatting with one of the staff about the same books we've read. Its always such a fun moment getting a different POV and getting to discuss books with others. I'll definitely be coming back.”

“Excellent service. Reasonable prices. They sell used bikes, so they might or might not have what the customer wants, but they work very hard to match the bike to the customer and are willing and able to make adjustments. (The sales area is in front, and the bike repair shop is in the back.)”

“The owners really care about you and want you to find what you are looking for. Whether it is a specific book title they need to special order, mezuzot from another state, help for a friend, they are awesome. Genuine, knowledgeable, wonderful people.”

“Thunderbolt Spiritual Books is a little metaphysical shop stuffed to the gills with merchandise. As you walk into the store you will see an enormous statue of Siddhartha Buddha with a collection of offerings in his lap. This place has an enormous stock of crystals, particularly of the ones that are very popular (amethyst, rose quartz...etc.). They also carry a collection of jewelry featuring many semi-precious stones. They have a case of elaborately decorated Hindu and Buddhist spiritual beings and a number of large bronze sculptures of Ganesha and Buddha that are displayed on the stairs to the second floor. Thunderbolt does have a large number of books (an especially large shelf on the top floor), but I think they're rather overshadowed by the crystals, tarot cards and other spiritual paraphernalia. The prices seemed reasonable. They were neither super-expensive nor dirt cheap. The employees were kinda and helpful while I was browsing the store and had a nice conversation with the cashier. If you are in Santa Monica, you might want to swing by.”

“Great selection of Spanish-language books for kids! LA Librería did a wonderful job helping me to select, gift wrap, and send books to a friend for her new baby - and they did it all over email. I'm grateful to have this bookshop in LA!”

“I've always came here to look around, and it's always the place I love to visit when I walk down on main Street. I just recently visited again and Jeff, the owner of the place happened to be there. Him and the staff were kind, and let me ask lots of questions. Everytime I go, there's always something new and exotic to see.”

“I went here to find a gift for a holiday gift exchange. My first visit I was thrilled to find a curated selection of products from books, to notecards, jewelry, candles, bath salts and lotions, to name just a few. The broad selection made it easy to find gifts, and the clerks were very helpful. You can get up to three gifts gift-wrapped for free, and she did an amazing job. Stronly recommend - this store is a gem!”

“I've been going to Sandpiper for years. They are the best little bookstore in the South Bay, with a great selection across many genres and a good ratio between new and used. Today my girlfriend and I stopped in to donate some old books and browse around. I'd had my eye on a two-volume Aristotle collection for a while, but it apparently sold about a week ago. That's what I get for dragging my feet! I picked out a used copy of a history paperback, and asked the clerk Colin if he knew how much a new copy would cost. He did a little research on his computer and found that a new copy would cost more than twice the price of the copy in my hand. I happily opted for the used copy! After paying, we talked to Colin about the store and our common passion for books (turns out he also wanted that Aristotle collection and waited too long) and if another customer hadn't come to the counter to check out we probably would've talked until closing. I can't recommend Sandpiper enough as a home for book lovers of all kinds!”

“Most entertaining book store for those who love art, design, architecture, etc and they have a variety of unique and rare books! Their stuff is very well organized especially given the wide range of printed materials they carry. I pay a regular visit even thought it’s a bit out of my way, and it’s totally worth it. Go give it a try!”

“What a charming delight to stumble across Mystery Pier Books on Sunset! This is one of the hidden gems of L.A that keeps the magic of this city alive... Harvey and Louis are the consummate hosts - welcoming, passionate and full of stories - like their books which are ALL first editions! A stunning collection in this quaint and cosy space. Thank you for your generosity and warmth, we'll be back! Your new Aussie friends, Leah and Jerome”

“Have been buying Taschen publications for several years. They offer beautiful books at affordable prices (I especially love their facsimiles of Medieval books) but have noticed something that bothers me: I treat my books well. I keep them shelved upright or lying flat if they're oversized, and I never force them open to make them lie flat on a table, etc. Nevertheless, over time, pages or entire signatures on some of their publications have come loose. Why make such lovely books, and then glue the signatures in, or if they sew them, sew them in with what is apparently inferior thread? I did contact Taschen about this problem once but got no reply.”

“I recently purchased Introduction to Black Studies by Maulana Karenga, from your website, sankorepress.com. I needed it for my Africana Studies class that will be starting soon. Before I made my purchase, I called and spoke to one of your representatives about the book and the delivery time. My class will start at the end of August and I wanted to start reading it during quarantine. The person I spoke with gave me a lot of good information about the book and took time to answer all my questions. I received the book last Friday and have already started reading it. I really appreciate how knowledgeable and professional your representative was to me. I am sorry that I did not get her name but I truly enjoyed our exchange. Great job! Thank you,Malaika”

“This is a nice store and just enjoyable to hang out. Sits right on Rosecrans - safe environment, and great selection of books, of course! As far as books go they are well stocked with easy to find labeled sections. They have a vast variety and a wide range of authors, all genres and beautifully set up with a nice array of displays showcased throughout. The store is well organized, well-lit, clean, and spacious. Also, there are a variety of seating areas. Super friendly and knowledgable staff - always helpful and kind! Everyone is caring and insightful and gives impressive recommendations based on your tastes or goals. Kudos to the staff for professional, knowledgeable and friendly customer service. They also make ordering books easy. You can get anything you need and pretty fast. A nice browsing atmosphere with other book lovers. Parking is not a problem at all - as it is nestled in a shopping mall situated between Trader Joe's and Old Navy. This place is a 10/10!!!”

“Love this place!! I was on a time crunch to buy gifts for people and managed to get it all done (with complementary gift wrapping and everything) in one trip at this store.Considering the general quality of items at the store, I think the prices are super reasonable. Hits the sweet spot between higher end and tasteful without breaking the bank. Also shoutout to the two people who were working at the store - you were lovely and helpful! Will be coming back to get future gifts.”

“Why haven't I known this place earlier! I love all the childrens book, workbooks, flashcards, and etc. I will continue to buy more every year for my students! They are reasonable with the price. Seriously trust me! Places like galleria market book store are too over priced with their toys and books in my opinion. I spent a good $300 at this place and bought so many different types of educational things!”
