Next time, I'd buy only chicken (or maybe some pork too) and steer clear of the cheese. While there, I picked up some chips, salsa, Mexican pastries and a few other odds 'n ends (grocery-related). “This little corner store is the ONLY mini mart in the general area without traveling onto El Camino Real. It IS a liquor store, BUT there is a wide-ranging selection of miscellaneous items for sale here...from dish soap to screws. They do NOT accept EBT currently, but are working on it. The staff here is very friendly.”

“I come for the very inexpensive vegetables and fruits. Also they have latin-typical vegetables like chayote squash of good quality. The meat section is really good, but it's not prepackaged - you have to ask for what you want (but it is fresher!). The language most spoken is Spanish but everyone speaks English too.”

“I came to this Safeway to use the Olyns recycling machine, but the machine was full. I brought my bags to the customer service counter, but the employee who normally handles recycling was away, possibly on lunch. The manager, Antonio, was extremely busy, but he still stopped to let us know that the employee would be returning. When she had still not returned after some time, Antonio stepped in to help. Even though he was not completely familiar with the Olyns recycling process, he made a genuine effort to figure it out and even called someone to confirm the correct procedure. Throughout this time, Antonio was also handling several other customers and demands, yet he remained calm, patient, helpful, and professional. I was very impressed by how well he managed everything. Later, another employee clocked in and said that he only handled money orders. He was not openly rude, but his attitude felt reluctant and dismissive. I had to explain that I had already been waiting in line, and although he eventually asked someone how to help, his overall demeanor did not make me feel that he genuinely wanted to assist. The contrast between the two employees was very clear. Antonio was extremely busy but still maintained a positive attitude and did everything he could to help. His professionalism and customer service were excellent. I would have given this location five stars based on Antonio’s service alone, but I am giving four stars because of my interaction with the other employee.”

I injured my back recently and i was trying to haul around a huge remote control car I wanted to get as a gift for a neighbors son. It got to the point my back was hurting so bad I had to pause. A young man was walking by in a Walmart blue vest and I asked if he could help me find a cart. He raced to grab one and was back in a flash with a smile and an earnest desire to be helpful. The Cincinnati-based supermarket giant will open about 110 new stores in fast-growing markets by 2029 and introduce three updated store formats, executives told investors Oct. 20 at the company’s Investor Update in New York. Kroger already runs about 2,700 stores in 35 states. The formats come in three sizes, a bit like small, medium and large, matched to each market. Mary Ellen Adcock, Kroger’s executive vice president and chief merchant and marketing officer, walked through the lineup.
Walmart shoppers want a head start on the holidays, and money explains a lot of it. Some 44% of respondents call affording the holidays their top stressor, and 61% say holiday costs shape their shopping mood. Asked what would make the season easier, 70% picked lower prices and 57% picked more deals and promotions. Convenience ranks lower: 30% want one-stop shopping across categories, and 20% want faster delivery.
Walmart wants your groceries at the door before the ice cream softens. On May 29, the retailer said its 30-minute-or-less delivery had reached 33 U.S. markets, adding a wave of new cities across the Northeast. Shoppers in those areas can order from more than 100,000 items, everything from fresh produce and baby formula to pet food, electronics, cold medicine, and prescriptions. Behind the scenes, the service leans on Walmart's store network and an algorithm that factors in order size, available drivers, and distance from the store.
Trader Joe's keeps adding stores, and shoppers keep showing up. The California grocer has marked nine more locations as "opening soon," pushing its expansion into new corners of the country. The grocer also took first place in the American Customer Satisfaction Index's 2026 supermarket rankings. It has held a spot near the top of that list for years.
Target is rolling out its most ambitious store overhaul in more than ten years, with plans to remodel over 130 locations and open 30 new stores across the country this year. The retailer is also putting money into supply chain technology upgrades to keep pace with how shoppers buy today.
