“3 1/2 stars. I purchased a condo here last September. All and all, I'm quite happy living here but somethings have surprised me, considering the cost of the units and the high cost of the monthly HOA fee. As another reviewer here mentioned, cost wise, you should really consider whether it is better to buy or rent here.

In general, this is a building built in 2001, and the units reflect that. Both the bathroom and kitchen have lower end cabinets and fixtures. Due to this, if your used to something a little more high end, you'll most likely have to go through the process of applying to the HOA for replacing these. It's not exactly turnkey.

Another thing that surprised me was the antiquated/outmoded heating system (there is only heating). It's something that was installed, in each individual unit, when the building was built. It's a one of a kind system that's not easily replaceable. There are no instructions/manuals available for it. It's very expensive to run (about 3-times the cost of my previous heating bill, prior to moving here). Kind of crazy for a 900 something sq ft condo.

Then there's the units 7-smoke detectors, 3-hardwired. What the what!? Trust me, it's not at all fun when one goes off as it takes forever to figure out which one it is. I was told by engineering that for the hardwire ones, the whole unit has to be replaced (at my expense).

Also, when the building was originally built, it would have been great if they had installed a water block off for each unit. Whenever any unit has a plumbing repair/upgrade, the water for all the units need to be shut off for 3 to 4 hours.

I really expected a more high end unit and experience.

There are a couple of engineering guys on site, but you quickly learn all that they don't do, as far as the units are concerned. These guys are primarily here to deal with the building itself.

The front desk staff is great. It's always a pleasure interacting with them and they are very customer service oriented.

The main attraction to living here, for me, is being on the lake, with all that has to offer, feeling safe living in this secure building, and how well the building is maintained.”

“The staff at the Logan -- Mykaylah, Kierra, and Taylor -- have been extremely helpful, responsive and welcoming. An especially big shout out to Kierra, who was the contact person, guiding my daughter through the application and move-in process and was even there to greet her when she arrived. The apartment was in beautiful move-in condition and whatever little repairs were needed, the staff worked with maintenance to take care of them immediately. The Logan is a well-managed, safe and beautiful complex because of their leadership. Thank you!”

“My wife and I recently were looking for an apartment in the Oakland area. We found the building manager, Heidi, to be accommodating, kind, and easy to work with in our process. Ultimately we chose to live in a different neighborhood that was more convenient for my commute to SF. However, we very much appreciated Heidi's responsive communication during our application process. Management was a bit more thorough than other buildings and we have high confidence this creates a strong sense of community in the property. We also got the sense that the building and residents are taken care of well by a management team. This isn't the case in all buildings from our research. In many ways, we were sad to not have moved in and if we decide to move closer to the lake in the future we wouldn't hesitate to choose this building.”

“This review is specifically for the new management staff here, led by Jose Romero. Compared with the former Greystar management, the improvement is like night and day. Jose is friendly, attentive and most importantly cares about his buildings and residents. Since Cushman and Wakefield have taken over I’ve seen more effort put into creating a positive experience for residents, staff and even vendors. I hope to god they stick around for everyone’s sake. “Was visiting a friend whom lives here.the grounds were quite clean as were the halls and the studio was a clasic loft style with banks of windows flooding light in at one end.”

“I move. A lot. So, I've lived in my share of apartment buildings. 1200 Lakeshore is, by far, the best managed building I've lived in. Everyone who works here is the best. They know the residents and their pups. Mrs. Hudson misses her neighbor, Christiana and her daily ear rubs. Maintenance is fast and seamless. The management is top-notch. They have events and doughnuts for morning commuters every once in a while. The front security staff are friendly and professional and the building is super secure. Proximity to BART and living on Lake Merritt is amazing. The spaces are large and open. The residents are also fantastic. Say hi to Maya the bulldog if you move in. She loves some love.Now, not everything is always perfect. The building is amazing, as I said, but the noise is a thing. I'm a city person so the sounds of a city aren't new to me. The units facing 1st Avenue are NOISY. If this is something that doesn't bother you, then you're golden. If you're sensitive to that, opt for a higher floor on the lakeside. It's in Oakland. There is crime. Like all cities. Don't complain about it after moving in and then blame the building management. Due diligence on your part makes life better.Yes, I really lived here. No, I'm not paid nor friends with the management or ownership. It's just a great place.”

“This is truly a hidden gem in the city of Oakland! The units are very unique and recently upgraded, with the top floors being beyond anything you will find for the price, including the amazing views!! The building had a beautiful courtyard (currently being remodeled) otherwise the only amenities are a Luxor machine for packages and a snack machine. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the manager lives on site (always a sign of a great building/community)! The location is a bit gritty, but very up and coming and still very safe. My wife walked to and from the bart everyday for work. There are great restaurants (Gogi Time, Blind Tiger, Mua) and bars (Double Standard, Telegraph Beer Garden) to name just a few, within walking distance and First Fridays (check it out online) happens right out in front of the buildings. I cannot recommend this building highly enough!”

“Domain Oakland is beautifully modern and uniquely designed to fit the needs of families seeking to relish in city living. It has plenty of amenities to promote fun and comfort for the type of people who love to entertain as well as those who enjoy reading a book in a quaint space.

Touring Domain Oakland was an experience in itself and was anything but bland and boring. Our leasing agent, Christelle, was energetic and proudly knowledgeable about the property. The tour was appropriately paced and sprinkled with lots of intrigue without any of the pressure. I appreciated how Christelle had taken the time to get to know our family and made careful assessment of our needs and wishes. We have a toddler and she was able to pinpoint all the areas where he could run around as well as highlight all the nearby parks.

I have never felt so comfortable during an apartment showing and I am grateful to have cross paths with this lovely leasing agent.”

“I love living at the Grand Apts it’s very upscale comfortable diverse inviting and secure. The staff of excellent from the cleaning crew who are always busy at work cleaning and sanitizing the communal areas to the concierge team Beth, Lashelle and the others who names I don’t know.The front desk agents Sarah and Alyssa are always so pleasant, friendly and helpful everyday and that has made me feel comfortable and welcome since I first moved in in February. Carlos is another staff member that has been very welcoming and helpful to me personally, he literally helped me with my car when I was having issues and just speaks to his character since he is also very busy here. I also would like to mention Kevin one of the maintenance workers he’s done work in my apt and is always helpful and friendly. And lastly the manager Boss Brenna she been great to me works very hard here making the building a great experience for me and I’m sure all the other residents. I hope to stay as long as possible!”

“I really love the community here. SFRent has its ups and downs, but I really love the people and the space. Pros: Residents. Art is a former resident who now lives in SF and still comes up many Sundays to play cards with us. Virginia is like our building matriarch and helps plan events like our thanksgiving potluck, christmas parties, etc. Our old building manager, Marcus, is a complete angel and fixed everything under the sun and really advocated for the residents to management; once my oven started leaking gas, and he basically made SFRent buy me a new stove so I wouldn't explode/ die in my apt. We decorate our lobby during the holidays and it is GREAT when I can just go downstairs and hang out and count it as my "social time" when Im super lazy and don't want to go out. No one is all up in each other's business, but it is a diverse group of people who all have each other's backs. We once had a lady on our floor who was illegally airbnbing her unit and we basically organized against her so she eventually moved out (though she never moved in in the first place, as she was using our rent controlled apartments as a cash cow). SFRent has been iffy before, but since hiring Fritz as the new manager, things have gotten a lot better. He's much more responsive to resident's issues and makes sure our building manager cleans up our spaces, and fixes the heating when it's off. We're close to BART, people are nice, it's pet friendly. Cons: It's an old building so that comes with its issues. Our building was built in 1913, the year after the Titanic sank! But it's also part of its character. People steal our packages all the time. It took months for SFrent to fix our door (it literally didn't close, so our lobby was ripe for looting), but they finally kind of patched it up so it works, but people still steal our stuff, which sucks. Depending on the issue, SFRent can be more or less responsive to you, but I think they try. I hope they hire more staff/ pay their staff well bc I know our old manager Marcus who everyone loved basically worked himself sick.”

“If it wasn’t so the Leasing sales agent and the two maintenance guys i would have moved they make me feel so at home in my home with their quick response to my questions and also getting my maintenance request done quick because of that I’m never have any problems here at the Mason all 3 employees are great at what they do and i thanks yall for always being there when needed and always being understanding”
