“Wonderful rooms, breakfast and staff. Evening happy hour was a delight. Garden and indoor seating as well as a larger front outdoor area. A huge bonus was the parking!
Many people had their dogs.”

“My colleagues and I really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are bright (lots of lighting), clean, comfortable and have a balcony. It was quiet, we did not have any issues with noise. Staff members are so nice. I ate breakfast only, the food was fresh and tasty. The fresh home grown tomato slices were a nice surprise.”
“This was a lovely small motel to stay at! Everything was updated and the person in charge reached out beforehand to allow for early check in. The instructions were nice and clear. The bed was nice and comfortable, everything was clean and location was 25min walking to Amtrak and 20min to the bustling part of SLO. As a solo traveler, I felt safe and would definitely come by again.”
“The room was exceptionally clean and the bedding smelled super fresh. We stayed downstairs due to no elevator. Ask for upstairs if you are sensitive to noise. The solid flooring makes it a bit noisy. Great tv and channel line up. HBO included.”

“Wonderful place with a Michelin key 🔑. It's the little things that make it special like the lovely smell of the room, the Aesop toiletries, the fresh brewed coffee and pastries delivered every morning, and the tea selection or pour over coffee available at all times. Our room looked into the woods which was great privacy. The bathroom has a skylight. The bedding is so soft on the skin. It makes the stay a small luxury. The only thing is you'd need a car since it's not exactly centrally located. However, if you need to go to Pismo or Shell or Avila Beach from here, the freeway entrance is very close!”
“What an amazing value!
Everything our little family could want and done well…a pool, hot tub, fitness center, breakfast included, Wi-Fi, and friendly, accommodating staff. In particular, Des was very welcoming when we arrived for breakfast.
Side note, we walked to the Madonna Inn for dinner and had a memorable family adventure exploring the grounds.
Such an amazing value!!!”

“My husband, our friends, and I were on vacation in Monterey, and it turned into a disaster. We made a last-minute decision to spend a night in San Luis Obispo before heading back to LA. We ran into some issues while booking the room, but Kara(?I’m sorry that I forgot her name)was incredibly patient, helped us sort everything out , and even held the room for us. By the time we arrived she was already off work, but she had asked David to assist us when we checked in. David was extremely friendly and attentive. I truly feel that the staff at this hotel saved our disastrous trip and gave it the perfect ending. I originally chose this hotel for its stylish design, but it’s the outstanding service that will bring me back again.”
“We camped at the RV park. It's very quiet and secure. It's also located close to San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay. Military only; great price for the area.”
“For $60 a night, I couldn't complain at all, managers are extremely courteous and the tenants were pretty respectful as well. Stayed for 5 days and will definitely be returning to Villa on my next visit.”

“We came to SLO for a quick weekend getaway. This was our 1st time staying at The Butler hotel. Wow! Absolutely loved it. Definitely an adult hotel. Quite, rooms are cozy, beds are extremely comfortable.
They offer wine and snacks everyday and a nice little coffee bar in the morning. I'd definitely stay here again.”

“Love this home away from home.
We were greeted by Dani who is so welcoming. She personifies the perfect host and got us situated right away. There may be other TownPlace Suites, but no Dani made this location stand out for their top tier customer service.
The amenities here are great! They have a couple of Weber grills that you can use for cooking dinner by the pool. Very nice touch! There are so many other aspects to list, but I will only highlight that they have onsite charging for EVs.
This place pays attention to details. For example, the knob to turn on the shower on our room was directly in front of the shower door at a good height instead of being underneath the shower head. I cannot stress what a little thing like this makes for an enjoyable stay.
Nice job SLO TownPlace Suites!”

“Perfect location, Prefect Price, and accommodations. We were only in room to sleep & wake up, coffee maker in room & fridge , we had car to get to all the beaches, there were a few places we could have walked to eat, but car recommended. Staff was beyond friendly, like 80 hospilitaty Diana & Diane we were checked in early, they have coffee & breakfast muffins & fruit in lobby. Pool was good for relaxing by, served it purpose. There are beautiful beaches, only was around pool to ejoy weather, while others in our party were showering., little but nice. It is a little dated hotel, but well served our price point & exceed expiations with location & feeling of security & friendliness Served us perfect up early in morning & not back till bed time. We will be back!”

“The rooms at SLO Brew Lofts are awesome, and Kent and Bryan are great hosts. We had an amazing stay here for our wedding weekend.
One note on the noise complaints from other reviews — yes, it gets a little loud at night. But you're staying downtown in a college town. If you're looking for a quiet retreat, this probably isn't your spot. If you want to be in the middle of the action, it's perfect.”
“Great hotel, very clean, appears to have been recently renovated, good clean/safe location (near grocery stores/restaurants), bed and pillows very soft/comfortable. I had a minor issue with my reservation and Selena at the front desk was VERY helpful (she went above and beyond to help me). The only con: No free breakfast, you have to pay extra $. Other than that, its a 9 out of 10”

“Great place to stay.
From outside the hotel looks old but the rooms and everything in there was clean, peaceful and well maintained!
Worth staying.”
“Avenue Inn meets my expectations for a motel retreat near downtown SLO. The location is unbeatable. Walking distance to many coffee shops, eateries, and the downtown core. Despite being right next to a highway exit, my second-floor room was quiet enough during the day to get some work done and at night for a calm sleep. The room is clean, the bed is comfy enough. Fridge and microwave come very handy. You cannot get better lodging that is cheaper, closer to downtown, and better rated. You can get two, but not all three. That says a lot about this place.
That being said, there are many smaller cuts that prevented this experience from being next level. Room has a bit of an old smell. No vent fan in the bathroom. Blanket is a bit tough and cold. I ended up buying one from Target, no big deal. AC can sound a bit loud at night. Front desk can add a bit more warmth. And it was indeed a bit awkward to arrive after 10, make the call, and wait outside knowing you’ve woken someone up. The late checkout fee is also unusually steep. I made sure to check out on time.
All in all, legit option for a budget stay close to downtown SLO, top of its kind.”

“Fabulous hotel, with spacious, well-appointed rooms. Our room had French doors that looked down on to the atrium cafe & bar. We were worried that it was going to be noisy (it wasn’t). Great water pressure, nice closet, comfortable bed (with 2 pillows per person), dressing/makeup table with bench. Shopping (including Boot Barn) and restaurants across the parking lot. Fantastic complimentary breakfast includes made to order omelets.”
“My husband and I took a spontaneous trip to Morro Bay and stopped by the motel six first but they wanted $200 for a one night stay so we booked a last minute room in San Luis At the Homestead. For $95 beggars can’t be choosers. It’s true that this place needs to be fixed up a little but I found it to be charming. The lady at the front desk gladly let us check in an hour early and gave us extra towels. There was a microwave and small fridge and cable tv and WiFi. This place isn’t gonna be like checking into a Quality Inn or even a Motel 6, but it’s a pretty nice place to stay, especially if you’re traveling on a budget. I enjoyed myself and would come back again.”

“The employees at the Sands Inn and Suites really go out of their way to ensure that your stay is comfortable. I was by the pool watching my son swimming, and the assistant manager noticed that I was shielding my eyes and asked me if I would like her to bring the umbrella over to me. I didn't need it, but it was genuinely touching that someone would offer. The pool and hot tub area have lots of seating and is clean and spacious. I want to express why I rated the room a 4/5 and it was due to the layout of the room rather than the employees, who are very obliging. The room has a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker inside and the way in which they were positioned meant you had to move everything over to be able to plug them in to the outlet due to the length of the cords. I would recommend a rolling bar cart be provided or something similar so that this isn't too much of a struggle for a guest. The linens were clean and the toiletries provided were lightly fragranced and effective meaning that the shampoo was cleansing and the conditioner softening. The provided morning breakfast consisted of coffee, juices, toast/bagels, sauces/spreads, eggs, sausages and cereals. It was well presented and there's plenty of seating. There was an audible sound of disappointment when other guests found out the waffle maker wasn't working, but hopefully that can be fixed soon. The location is just a few blocks away from downtown. Easily accessible with Uber, taxi, local transport or walking and there are a lot of dining options close by.”
“I spend around 100 nights a year in hotels; mostly with Choice. In SLO, I usually stay here. The rates, mid week, can't be beat: $75 a night during summer is what I paid on hotels.com
The last 2 times I've stayed here, both rooms have been very clean, the beds were comfortable and I had no issues with TV or locks. I read a review that said there are just local channels and that simply isn't true: unless room specific
I didn't, and never, use pools at hotels so I cannot comment. I also didn't think twice about safety: i mean, it's SLO, so if you're worried about the functionality of a latch in addition to a deadbolt I think you are absolutely neurotic. Also, you can't beat the location. You can walk downtown and to Cal Poly.
So, to summarize: affordable rate, convenient/walk to virtually everything, and a clean room. Like I said, though, my standards aren't that high given the dumps I've stayed at over the years”
“They let me stay with $35 off the price and with $100 cash with less than half as a deposit to accommodate my situation the manager blessed me and my fiance and was super nice and we are extremely thankful definitely will stay there again ❤️”
“I had the pleasure of staying at the Lamplighter Inn & Suites in San Luis Obispo. I had family in town visiting about two weeks ago and needed to obtain a hotel room for myself to stay in. The property was very nice, clean, and service was impeccable! Great location as well, near downtown SLO. Front staff at check in was knowledgeable and fast with check in. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends!Rooms: Nicely appointed and very cleanWalkability: Near Downtown SLO”
“This was a lovely stay. I wish I had more than just one night. It is a nice location to hang out with several places on the property to chill. It was a perfect light breakfast too.”
