“Best place to get soil, DG, pumice, perlite, and some small lava rock. They allow customers to shovel buckets of material so if you don't have an open truck for loading, you can still benefit from the low prices vs bagged material. This is the only place in San Diego that I have found that lets you do this. I've been going 3-4 times a year for about 5 years and have always gotten exceptional service. I've also had 2 deliveries of 15 cubic yards each time with succulent container soil. Just love it.”

Soil is about 250% cheaper than big stores and better quality as well. I really appreciate the friendliness of the owners, and am proud to support a locally owned family operated business. Yes, Marty is a bit quirky and there is no signage indicating where the business is (look for the black mailbox marked 2727) but he is very knowledgeable and has a large variety of plants and trees.
I was looking for Podocarpus trees which Marty had posted on Craigslist. I didn't realize his business was by appointment only, but he graciously helped me anyway. Since Marty is a grower, he picked out 8 beautiful and well-matched trees from his stock and helped me load them. If you can't find what you are looking for, give Marty a call.”
“I normally don't review hardware stores and I normally do not shop at this location, but I had a real great customer service experience. As soon as I walked in the door, someone greeted me and asked if I need help. I normally don't ask for help but I said I needed some assistance with specific light switches and fan controller. The gentleman who covers that area just happened to be standing next to the greeter. He looked at the switches I brought with me and was able to quickly get me what I needed that they had in stock. He identified that the other switch is not something they carry so he identified the model number and I ordered it from Amazon. He was very helpful and friendly. I ended up buying a few other items and was able to check out with minimal wait. Overall, it was a much better and quicker experience than I expected.”
“An absolute 5 starts+ to this location and Angel of course! I hope the store manager, Vida sees this review. I am sharing my absolute gratitude to Angel in the Home and Gardening department. When my husband and I purchased our new home, we were quoted around $8k or more by landscaping companies for simply planting plants. It seems pretty high as new home owners, but we weren't sure if that was a good deal or not, so we went to a couple of nurseries. The prices went to about $2k-$3k. A little skeptical at this point about the price in plants and labor costs - we continued to shop. After some good ole' YouTube and some enthusiastic ambition, we took a trip to Home Depot and met the Plant Legend himself - Angel! His name couldn't be any more suiting! He helped us find the perfect, drought resistant plants that look absolutely beautiful in our home. He patiently walked us through each step to get it right! He literally spent an hour with us, educating us on proper care and maintenance. He helped make it really easy, especially for me, since I have a horrible curse of basically looking at a plant, and it dies! Yikes! Not these plants though! We literally walked out spending under $300 for the plants and couldn't be happier! They are such great quality, and I love the Home Depot policy. Keep the containers, and if they don't work out within a year, you can take them back for a replacement or a refund! Seriously, couldn't be happier! Thanks Home Depot Escondido! Especially Angel!”
