Vista Succulent Nursery is hands-down one of the best plant spots in North County.
The selection is incredible — from rare hybrids to classic varieties — all beautifully maintained and reasonably priced.

The staff is super friendly and genuinely passionate about what they do, which makes the experience even better.

I picked up a few dozen pieces for an event (and of course I had to grab a few for my garden) and was impressed by how healthy and vibrant everything looked.

The road up is long, but the layout is easy to navigate, and it’s peaceful enough to just wander and soak in the greenery.

Whether you're a seasoned collector or just getting into succulents, this place is a gem.

“Bamboo Stu is awesome! Delivered 9 plants, carried them down my steep hillside, dug all the holes, planted and fertilized, and told me exactly what I need to do make sure they flourish. “I have been shopping at this nursery often for the last year primarily because of the tremendous Customer Service I have received from Gillian. She is the one that is always there on Saturdays and Sundays. As far as I can tell, this feeling is shared by most every customer (new or repeat customer). Sometimes the wait is a little longer because Gillian is so thorough in answering customer questions. In my case, she has also taught me a great deal about succulents and cacti. I strongly recommend visiting this stand, it is a wonderful experience.”

Got a Musa banana Sumatrana x cross as an impulse buy, in addition to a stout 20gal Areca. Delivered to my door. Even helped me with sound advice on my avocado tree in my yard. Tony knows his stuff!”

“This place is insane it is a wholesale nursery so don't come here expecting to be able to buy a plant you have to have a business license in a resale number and you have to purchase at least $450 or more of stuff. This place is a nursery that sells to other nurseries that people buy from. Having said that if you have a business license and a business selling plants this place is absolutely insane they specialize in rare cactus and succulents there really is not another like it and they've been around for over 60 years. In order to make a reservation to come visit call in person and leave a message and they will get back to you explain what it is that exactly you're after if you do show up without calling show up to the office and speak to the owner and worker.”

“I want to give a huge shout-out to Marcos at Home Depot for his outstanding customer service.

An item I had delivered arrived completely destroyed in the box. I called the store and spoke with Marcos, explained the situation, and he immediately told me he would look into it and call me back. He did exactly that. After speaking with his manager, he worked through some system issues and went above and beyond to make sure I received a replacement the very same day.

What really impressed me was that Marcos personally delivered the replacement to my home and picked up the damaged item himself. That level of dedication and customer care is rare these days.

“I have been going here for decades. Great prices, healthy plants. Large selection. This is a drive through nursery and you load your car or truck yourself. You can get help but mostly be prepared to walk plant rows looking for what you want. The plants are labeled. I do not understand the negative reviews. Don't come here in your Gucci's expecting a latte while you browse for garden decorations. This is for landscaping.”

“For Penske Rental: Good experience here! You can park your car in the customer parking lot, which will remain unlocked and free for you to come back at any hour of the day or night to pick up your car later. The man who was working inside was super helpful and friendly. I did not feel intimidated by the process of renting, picking up, or asking questions. The pick up process here took about 10 minutes, and I was on my way! I recommend scheduling ahead of time, online, for a fast, easy, pre-paid pick up! That's what I did. I will always pick Penske from now on! Penske is the only company that has unlimited miles for one-way trips.”
