Common Corners Brewing
20265 Valley Blvd Suite M, WalnutA very nice brewery that should serve all of your drinking needs. It has a welcoming atmosphere, designed to feel like a library (books included!). I spent some time with friends from work, and everyone had an enjoyable time. Merch is available to purchase at the front counter. I was able to order from a nearby restaurant using a QR code and get my food and drink delivered to the bar, which should make this a good place to hang with friends even if you don't want alcohol. They also have trivia and board game nights; I haven't attended any, but I bet they'd be fun.

18766 Amar Rd, WalnutWe popped in here every morning we stayed in West Covina on tour. These people were so nice and took great care of us. Anytime we’re down this way, this is our first stop in the morning.

Picnic Time Cafe
20747 Amar Rd, WalnutThis was extra special day Mama time sweet day! because it was our mama time while the kids were in school—a chance to slow down, catch up with a friend, and enjoy a peaceful meal together. We loved this cute little corner we discovered in Walnut. The space is cozy, clean, and thoughtfully arranged—perfect for relaxing and chatting without feeling rushed.
The owner was incredibly kind, welcoming, and polite. The hospitality really stood out and made us feel at home.
Delicious small bite & beautifully prepared dish! We tried the mini yubu sushi, which were fun, flavorful, and perfectly portioned for sharing.
The donburi bowl with seared salmon was so good—fresh, satisfying, and beautifully balanced. We also enjoyed the sweet shrimp & tobiko combination, which tasted very fresh and light.
Everything felt small enough to sample more, yet still filling and satisfying. Wanted to tried 9 yubu sushi. Owner said stop tried 4!! Too much food for beautiful ladies to handle LoL ? it is true. Honestly, we wanted to try even more items, but our stomachs were already full!
Looking Forward to Trying More Next Time?
There are so many items on the menu we’re excited to come back for—especially the specialized sushi selections and the Chef’s Combo Rice Bowl. This is definitely a place worth returning to when you want thoughtful food, a calm atmosphere, and friendly service.
Such a lovely spot for a casual meet-up, a quiet lunch, or foodie exploring. Just a recommendation bigger tables for people who want to order more food and for bigger group size. The only suggestion I would appreciate so I can bring more friends over. Next time I’ll try different drinks. I thought mine was a little bit sweet. With mango and matcha tea.
Highly recommend — we will absolutely be back!

Sunny Dumpling House - Walnut
310 N Lemon Ave, WalnutGreat atmosphere and very clean. Staff was cheerful and courteous. They were very helpful and friendly. We ordered the Xiao Ling Bao (soup dumplings). They had a BOGO special if you buy any of the XLB's you get the pork XLB for free ($12.99 value). These were delicious. I also ordered the pork belly with garlic sauce appetizer. I didn't know it was served cold. Also very spicy and pork was dry. I was not impressed with this dish and will not order it in the future. Ordered the Wok fried Sweet & Sour chicken which was delicious and also ordered regular shrimp and pork dumplings. I think I would stick with the XLB choices. My nephew ordered some beef noodle soup and gave me a taste. Yeah, no, as in no flavor. Pass on the noodle soup for me. For dessert the cornbread bao was not sugary sweet but nice. I don't think it is much of a dessert though. Overall I had a good experience but not sure if I would go here again since it is out of my way. Lots of parking.

Wallace Chicken
18732 Amar Rd, WalnutYummy chicken sandwich! It’s like Asian version of Chick Fil-A. I tried their 3 for $10 chicken sandwiches today. The chicken sandwich was very flavorful and chicken meat was so tender and perfectly fried without dryness. Highly recommended!

GOOMO BOBA TEA SHOP
1217 N Grand Ave, WalnutI went to the shop for the first time last week to purchase the stainless steel bottle and tofu meal. The young lady that took my order was helpful by explaining to me a couple of the features on my new bottle. While I do love my new bottle I do wish I didn't have to remove the straw to close the lid and unfortunately it doesn't fit in my cup holder. The tofu is delicious and the rice with kimchi (slightly fishy), seaweed (a little sweet) and pickle is also good. Definitely looking forward to the fried tofu again and I'm using my bottle everyday!

Clearwater Bagel
20747 Amar Rd #1, Walnutever since i started going to college i have been going to clearwater bagels. i took some time off and it’s been about four years since ive been back to clearwater bagel and its just as wonderful as the first time. at times there can be long waits, but it is well worth it. don’t come if you’re impatient or entitled, the workers put so much into their food and can tell they care about their work. they have so many wonderful different flavor combinations to choose from.

Hong Kong Cafe 香港茶餐廳
20747 Amar Rd, WalnutWalking through the door felt like stepping off the MTR at Causeway Bay. The fluorescent-lit signage, the cramped-but-cozy booth seating, the plastic-laminated menus, the sound of clattering ceramic — every detail was dialed in. This isn’t a “Hong Kong-inspired” cafe where someone Googled the aesthetic. This is the real thing.
The milk tea arrived in a tall glass with that unmistakable pulled-tea smoothness — silky, slightly bitter, perfectly sweetened. It could hold its own against anything I’ve had at a dai pai dong. The pineapple bun with butter (bolo bao) was fresh out of the oven, with a shatteringly crisp sugar crust giving way to pillowy bread and a cold slab of butter melting in real time. I may have ordered a second one immediately.
The scrambled egg on toast was a masterclass in simplicity done right — fluffy, custardy eggs on thick-cut white toast, the way cha chaan tengs have been doing it for 60 years. The wonton noodle soup had that clean, delicate shrimp-and-pork broth with noodles that still had bite. Proper.
Service was fast, no-frills, and efficient — exactly what you want. No unnecessary fuss, just good food delivered quickly with a nod. Peak cha chaan teng energy.
If you’re homesick for Hong Kong, craving something authentic, or just tired of cafes that prioritize Instagram over flavour — this is your place. Don’t miss it.
