“This is definitely one of the nicest and cleanest dollar generals I've been to. Nothing blocking the aisles, good variety. I was out this way because of a job I have and will be using this dollar general from now on!”

“Aldi's is always clean and easy to shop. I love finding seasonal treasures especially around Christmas. There's lots of variety and they have the best prices for any grocery store in the area. It may be a pain to have a quarter for the shopping carts but I often find one in the parking lot or somebody offers it to me. Then I pay it forward. One time I didn't have a quarter and the cashier let me use one from inside.”

“I went on a quest for gluten free, organic and protein-rich snacks and found way more than I expected!! Wonderful shop and the owner was very knowledgeable!! The snacks taste great too - highly recommend the Wildberry Açaí Toaster pastries!”

“Much easier since self check out has been put in, but i think they should still have more than one cashier considering the amount of people all the time. Other than that, over all great place to do your shopping”

“? The Fresh Market is always an exceptional experience. From the moment you walk in, the vibrant displays of fresh produce catch your eye — everything looks beautifully arranged and truly top quality. Their cuts of meat are consistently excellent, making it a go-to for special dinners or just everyday meals you want to elevate.

The selection of artisan foods is a foodie’s dream come true: gourmet cheeses, specialty spreads, freshly baked breads, and unique treats you won’t find in your typical grocery store. And I have to mention their pizza — honestly one of the best grocery store pizzas I’ve ever had, with a crust that bakes up perfectly and generous, flavorful toppings.

Whether you’re shopping for staples, putting together an elegant charcuterie board, or simply treating yourself, The Fresh Market never disappoints. It’s truly a pleasure to shop there every time.”

“I've been shopping at Market 32 since the day they opened the new store. There are dandelion greens and many different types of kale! One day when the fabulous radishes were not there, I spoke to a woman I thought was simply a pair of hands -- and she informed me that the radishes just were not up to snuff that week and she passed them by! What a help that is! I rarely go to the middle of the store – but the Produce, the Bakery, the Meat Department where you can find tomahawk steaks and grass fed beef, and the Fish department - where you can find things fresh and there's someone to talk to who can guide you to what's especially good -- it all makes a difference. I wish the Price Chopper fellows had the courage to go all the way – but for the moment, what they're doing is so greatly appreciated! And -- by the way -- there is someone packing your groceries while you're unpacking your cart. The help is terrific. And I thank them. Overlook the fact that they're in a Wallmart Strip Mall -- and give them a try. You'll be pleased you did.”

“Massive produce section, great ready to eat foods, and a lot of variety. They don’t have the best sales compared to other local chain grocery stores but fantastic selection and always clean and easy to shop.”

“The gas station is fine, just like any other gas station. But I actually go here because it has the old school, free, precise tire filling station. A hidden gem!”

“Clean store and friendly staff! The staff go above and beyond in terms of friendliness. The store itself is large and well organized. I am giving 4/5 stars because the store does not have a gluten free section like other locations (specifically the Big Y in West Hartford). While they have gluten free tags next to the prices, there’s not one spot where gluten free stuff is kept. It makes it more difficult and time consuming to shop. After speaking with a staff member, it seemed to be a common request customers had. I am hopeful the store will create a gluten free section (even a small one) as it is incredibly helpful for people who have celiac/ gluten allergy/ intolerance.”

“Are you stuck in a rut in the kitchen trying to make healthy food?
If so, the answer is to get a Dietitian to help you out, and you can do so for free !!!

The 5 Star rating for Shope Rite of Canton was given because of the value provided by my no-cost appointment with this store's Dietitian, Hannah Dipanfilo.

As a recent retiree who's trying to stay in shape, I was very pleased that a short session with Ms Hannah provided me with easy, helpful ideas on menus that fit my caloric needs...and my lack of desire to spend a lot of time in the kitchen !

Do yourself a favor and do as I did - go see the Dietitian Hannah Dipanfilo at Shop Rite of Canton !”

“Stop & Shop has a very nice assortment of different brands and products. They have the cheaper version and the more expensive ones. There fruit I’ve found wanting several times. ALDI has a good variety of fruit at a better price.”

“I live right down the road and I love Sam's. They even have canned dog food. I've always lived in rural areas- so to me having a convenience store less than a mile away is just fantastic.”

“I mean, it's a Walmart, not much more to say. If I were to compare it to the one in Waterbury or Wallingford, I would say it has less of a selection. Other than that, it's what you would expect from a store like this.”

“I stopped by the BJ's in Torrington, because I needed some honey and cheese. This BJ's surprisingly wasn't that busy on two nights before Christmas. It was well stocked, but it took me some time to find everything I was looking for because the layout of this store is a bit different from the one in West Hartford. There was a very kind lady offering samples of corn and apple sauce, she was working at both stations simultaneously. Each time I passed by her she offered it to me again. I told her, I just had it, she said "that's ok, have another one!" I always thought the people who check for your BJ's membership card as you're walking in was the most ridiculous job, because you can't really do much without your card. On this occasion they didn't ask for my card. I was convinced it was in my purse. After my shopping cart was filled and I went to pay, I discovered I didn't have my card. Lucky it was in my car, so all time wasn't wasted.Their job to check for your card, actually has a purpose, holding you responsible that you know where your card is.BJ's is a Club Warehouse. Their membership is $55 annually. This is where I typically go to fill up my car with gas. Their gas prices are the best.”

“Phyllis in the optical department was extremely helpful. I broke my glasses with no back up ones and she took her time to work on them. She did the best she could while maintaining a pleasant disposition. She really helped me during the time of my distress. Not being able to see clearly is stressful and I am extremely grateful and want to acknowledge her for all her help and understanding. She made going to BJ’s a valued experience.

“Fun fact: Stop and Shop (in Rhode Island) was my first job as a teenager; it's come a long way since then.

They now offer employee discount and a higher starting wage. This particular S&S is really new and high-tech looking. They have better self scan systems and handheld self scanners. I recommend using the self scanners to save on time; just make sure you have a stop and shop card. The self scan kioks were a little finicky but once you're used to it, it runs smoothly; they have security in place and alerts the employees of any issues. The employees at the self checkouts were very helpful. They still have the S&S card, you can easily sign up at the service desk or online, to get sale items. If you don't have a card, just ask the employee to scan one for you.

The service provided by the other employees there on our recent trip was good; deli and seafood counters specifically. The aisles were organized and fully stocked; the prices were average to above average (it's no Aldi). My kids were very entertained by the robot roaming around! (And so were we) We surely didn't have that back in the early 2000's; we've come a long way with technology. Parking was plentiful and when we went (Friday evening) it was quiet. This has become my new favorite Stop and Shop!”

“Worst restaurant ever. There an entire Isle of raw meat, nothing was cooked. Terrible menu, no one greeted us or seated us. We walked around aimlessly waiting to be seated. Nothing here is made fresh, there were endless isle's of frozen prepared food. Couldn't even buy beer past 9pm.....what kinda bar is this. Bring back IGA.”

“This discount store has approximately 19,000 stores in the US and Mexico. It is headquartered in Tennessee and founded in 1939 as JL Turner and Son. They had a name change to Dollar General since 1955.

Dollar General sells a wide variety of items such as home decor, clothing, cleaning supplies, and many more. This store in Barkhamstead is very similar like the other stores. It is well stocked and for the most part, organized. What I noticed in most DGs, there are always items waiting to be stocked on the end of aisles.

This one was pretty busy on the day we went because it was the Sunday before Christmas; I assume people were doing last minute shopping like we were doing too. They had many seasonal items and prices were affordable, as their name holds a reputation for that. This is also the first DG that I've seen two cashiers working; I think because there was a long line. Overall, a standard DG with discounted items. It's definitely a popular store and I understand why.”
