“A good way to save money on your basics like milk, bread & eggs. Other things that I always save on are condiments, baking items, dairy & produce. With one trip you can easily save 30% over the regular store. There is some stuff I will not buy here- like meats. naa to the pre packaged deli stuff. fruits are a hit or miss.”

“Highly underrated for birthday gifts, cards, clothing, books, duraflame boxes, and also food saver bags- all these things which I had to get recently all in one place and all was a pleasant experience!”

“ok if you buy mostly the sale items. Stay away from the prepared food as they just taste horrible. Its not my weekly store because I find their prices higher and nothin spectacular for selection. I think they need to get their prices in line with the other local grocery store close by.”

“The store was clean. The staff was friendly had just run in, for one of their sale items ended up buying a bunch of other stuff. Cause the prices seemed so competitive.”

“Shout out to Emily the cashier this afternoon. She was super kind and quick. Also gave me the kindest compliment after I have not felt like myself the past few months and really made my day! Thank you Emily! Big Y has always been my favorite place to shop for food.”

“I love the stuff this store offers.I start off my visit to get their "Awesome"cleaner for a buck and it works better than "name brand" products that cost 5 times more.this is just one example of dozens that I can give”

“My go to location. Good store but they need to hire more staff. Not fond of the manager Jen as I've seen her not pitch in and help when store gets super busy as I've seen other managers chip in.”

“I stopped by the BJ's in Torrington, because I needed some honey and cheese. This BJ's surprisingly wasn't that busy on two nights before Christmas. It was well stocked, but it took me some time to find everything I was looking for because the layout of this store is a bit different from the one in West Hartford. There was a very kind lady offering samples of corn and apple sauce, she was working at both stations simultaneously. Each time I passed by her she offered it to me again. I told her, I just had it, she said "that's ok, have another one!" I always thought the people who check for your BJ's membership card as you're walking in was the most ridiculous job, because you can't really do much without your card. On this occasion they didn't ask for my card. I was convinced it was in my purse. After my shopping cart was filled and I went to pay, I discovered I didn't have my card. Lucky it was in my car, so all time wasn't wasted.Their job to check for your card, actually has a purpose, holding you responsible that you know where your card is.BJ's is a Club Warehouse. Their membership is $55 annually. This is where I typically go to fill up my car with gas. Their gas prices are the best.”

“I live one minute from Stop and Shop on the West side but I travel to Big Y to shop. Why? Because the store is very clean, the staff are very helpful and the selection of most of the items I like or use are there. The sandwich deli makes very good grinders and their prices are impossible for anyone else in town to beat. I especially like their tuna grinders. The bakery is awesome....too awesome for me as it turns out because I've developed an addiction to the mudslide cookies and the triple chocolate cake.”

“I was originally closed into this new market in Torrington by their flashing lights at night. They're next door to where Payless Shoes used to be, so parking is plentiful. The market isn't too big, it's two aisles and some coolers, but they fit a lot of variety in there. It's Hispanic focused and lots of food you're not going to find in Stop & Shop. It's fun to just poke around and try something new! The prices are reasonable although not always marked. You can definitely make a whole dinner, or even a dinner party with the selection. There is also cheese, and fresh fruits and vegetables. The cashier let me wander and take it all in, and was very friendly. I only wish they had more spices, but that's minor in the overall picture.”

“I live right down the road and I love Sam's. They even have canned dog food. I've always lived in rural areas- so to me having a convenience store less than a mile away is just fantastic.”

“Typical Walmart, some of the products seem to be out. Prices have gone up lately, and the store is very neat and orderly. The Store Manager can usually be seen helping out his team or talking with people, not hiding in his office.”

“As Dollar Generals go, this one is downright cherry. There are others in the area that lean into the black, but here we have regular convenience store lighting. You can see! You can see it from across the dark parking lot! Speaking of which, parking is plentiful since we're dealing with a big plaza. Inside you have a little bit of everything. They have coolers for cold food, regular groceries, greeting cards, seasonal, paper products, etc. Aisles are okay size, and the store is big enough where you can avoid other shoppers. There are some places admittedly better faced than others - picture frames are discombobulated, but seasonal Halloween looked picture perfect. The cashier was really friendly with the best register "bell" to summon him I've ever seen.”
