“This place caught me off guard- in a good way. Strange Ways is tucked in behind the courthouses in New Haven, and I never would’ve expected a store with this much personality to be hiding there. I was drawn in by the bright colors and the wordplay, and once inside it kept getting better.
The whole vibe feels like reconnecting with your childhood self- playful, bold, colorful, and a little weird in a way that works. If you love clever phrases, visual humor, and design that doesn’t take itself too seriously, this store is full of it. It’s also a fantastic spot for gifts, especially for those people who are impossible to shop for because they “already have everything.”
They have a great assortment of patches, pins, stationery, and small gift items, and I appreciated that nothing felt generic or mass-produced. I ended up buying myself a sweater and a beanie (because obviously), and both were great quality. Pricing felt very fair... exactly what you’d expect when supporting a small, local business, without feeling overpriced.
The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. And surprisingly, parking wasn’t bad at all. I parked right on the street, fed the meter with some quarters, and had no issues.
This is one of those shops that makes you happy you wandered off the main path a bit. I’ll definitely be back.”

The experience of this team, quality furniture, prompt/professional delivery at great prices- you couldn’t ask for anything more. “I’m going out of my way to submit feedback for my visit on Friday, February 20, because I had an exceptional experience at your store. My cashier, Allysa, and the gentleman who was the manager on duty (I apologize for not remembering his name) were both incredibly helpful, kind, and professional. I truly believe they deserve recognition—and please make sure they get a raise—because people like them can make or break a shopping experience, and they are genuine gems.
Allysa was an absolute standout. Most cashiers I encounter aren’t particularly warm or engaging, but she was everything a cashier could be: friendly, smiley, respectful, and attentive. She went out of her way to offer thoughtful advice when I was torn between decor items for my bedroom, and her suggestions were spot-on. I even returned to the store to purchase additional items based on her recommendations because she perfectly understood my vision and helped me bring it together. Her level of care, attention, and product knowledge far exceeds what I’ve come to expect.
While I was shopping, I accidentally hit a piece with my back and broke the base. I felt completely humiliated, but the manager immediately reassured me that it was no problem and helped me resolve it with ease. Their patience, kindness, and professionalism made what could have been an awkward situation completely stress-free.
As someone who works in the entertainment industry as a producer in television and film, a very cutthroat field, I can say without hesitation that I would very easily pluck Allysa or this manager out and hire them myself. They have talent, charisma, and professionalism that’s rare to find. Stores are defined by their people, and I sincerely hope their efforts are noticed, rewarded, and compensated accordingly. Thank you for having such outstanding staff on your team!”

Store is a bit unorganized seeming, but that's a bit expected for the genre of store it is, haha. Went in not expecting much success in my adventures in trying to furnish a new apartment due to not having much luck in previously visited stores, but very pleasantly surprised as I managed to find and leave with multiple items I've been hoping to find.”
