“I had a great experience at this location getting my first passport. I arrived about 25min early for my appointment, anticipating a line, but it was quiet and they were able to process my application quickly without any issues. Both of the staff members working there were friendly and helpful. They are clearly doing their best while this location is understaffed and I appreciated it.”

“God do I miss when this place was 24 hours (current hours below)!!! Wonky, little-known aspect of DC culture, but it was a fantastic convenience that let you shift a key errand til the wee hours with no lines in a fairly elegant setting. Ok, maybe it's not the Ritz, but it beat the loud, cramped options elsewhere. Even though it's no longer open around the clock, it still offers better hours and more competent staff than any other post office I've ever been to. Glad they're still around.

As of May 27, 2025, hours as follows:

Monday - Friday: 9:00 am to 7:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Sundays/Holidays: CLOSED”

“Amazing customer service. There was an error on a package address I had shipped from Europe, so USPS marked it as return to sender. I went to the office, explained what happened, and they redelivered it after hours! Thank you, Mr. Wright!! God bless you, and God bless the USPS!”

“By far one of the best USPS locations in DC wish this locations was my local USPS store since it’s couple blocks down the street…don’t know why north capital is my local USPS…..but for sure will be using this location for shipping anything moving forward……not only were they professional but they even walked me through each step of the way to send an International package as well…….highly recommended location and will be back for sure……and as soon as I paid and they scanned my package I got the status update right away on my USPS app……not like north capital which never updated my status tracking and lost my package even after paying full price for tracking an envelope……a freaking envelope I laid tracking for still is missing and still has not been scanned……please avoid north capital location for shipping anything out……”

“I like this post office. The lady who works there is very nice, I have never had any mail lost and there is seldom a long line. I also like the selection of greeting cards that they have for sale. I noticed several negative reviews and I felt that I had to add a positive one because my experience here has always been positive. I hope yours will be too. Thanks.”

“The Longworth House Office Building Post Office is quite simply the best US Post Office I have encountered anywhere. The lines move quickly, the staff is friendly and they always have an abundance of stamps and mailing supplies. Mail is dispatched in the morning and after 4:00 p,m, in the afternoon. Staff will provide a special manual cancellation if you ask for it. The post office is located in the basement of the Longworth Building, but is open to the public. You will have to go through security upon entering the Capitol complex. It is easily reached by tunnel from the Cannon and Rayburn buildings.”

“The mail service is mostly ok, but if I get more than one piece of mail in my box it's all crammed in... like folded..bent... crammed in the mailbox. There's no excuse for that!”

The lady working there will is very helpful and I was able to get my package mailed off without a hitch. No crowds at all so you can get in and get out quickly. It is open Tues- Fri from 9 - 1 and you don't have to go on the naval post to get to the post office.”

“The lady at this branch is always lovely and very helpful. Just this week she made sure to accommodate my request with saving foreign stamp on postcard without much space. Thank you!”

“The workers here are incredibly kind and helpful. Despite an overall rude customer base, the workers are purposeful and excellent in their reactions to screaming and rudeness. Workers: 12/10, incredible experience. 0, it seems this location is inappropriately understaffed to a point of detriment to the workers. They shouldn’t have to deal with constant harassment due to clear mismanagement. Customer base: -100/10, rude, inappropriate, and abusive toward workers. Do better.”

“This post office is inside the USDA building, in the sub-basement of the South Building. This building is open to the public, but you'll need a valid photo ID and your bags will be passed through an xray machine. You'll also need to enter at one of the designated visitors entrances, such as the one closest to the Smithsonian metro station. Ask the security guards for directions to the post office once you are inside. Beyond the fact that it's hard to find, it's a post office. Friendly staff, and never a line.”

“Friendly helpful staff, normal wait times. If they’re out of stamps, just get some
At Safeway across the street. Only nuisance is entitled customers who come in and treat postal workers poorly. Read some of the 1 star reviews below for examples (or come in and witness these people—shameful to see adults act that way.)”

“This is my favorite post office location. The two women who are most often at the desk are so kind- they always make my day better when I go! Even when the line is long in the late afternoon, they go as quickly as they can while still being nice. In line, you can overhear them remembering regulars who often come in which is so incredible with the number of people who must come in every day.”

“First time walking in to this location. I must say I got the best service like never before. Marquita the person at the counter, was exceptional with the service. She was smiling as I proceeded to the counter and gave me fast service. This is the type of person that is needed at all the locations, not that attitude next like previous places I have gone too.

Thank you Marquita ?”

“I went here because I needed some forms to fill out. The lady at the desk was super friendly, helpful, and quick. I typically don't need to go to the post office that often but if I do in the future I'll probably go here.”
