“Great experience, our Nissan Versa was a perfect size and perfect car for what we needed. Pickup at the airport was very perfect as our car was waiting for us as our flight was very delayed. company allowed us to show up the next day to settle our outstanding bill and we’re very nice. When we visit Kauai again we will be sure to book with island Cars. If you are reading reviews to see what company you should rent with you can stop here, locally owned and operated this is the company to support during your vacation. Mahalo”

“We prebooked a car months before our trip, so checking in and out was very smooth. The price of extended insurance is very high, about $35 a day so make sure your insurance covers rentals and loss of use (gap). We drove a 24 Jeep Compass which was very nice.”

“My wife Jo set up our vehicle rental through this company, twice now, and we cannot say enough about how much we love them! They are great with communication, their prices are great and pick up and drop off was a cinch! We will always go with Rent A Wreck anytime we come to Kauai!”

“Had transmission shift cable break. Had my Chevy Trailblazer towed to Harbor Motors. One of their top Wrench at the shop jumps on the job and as quick as you eat your poke bowl I’m back in the Lihue traffic. Great work, Great company, GREAT PLACE TO HAVE ALL YOUR WHEELS REPAIRED. stop by and let their crew work their MAGIC on your “ride”.”

“National is my go-to company for my car rentals! Their process is simple and easy, especially if you're an Emerald Club member. I love the fact that I can arrive at the airport, pick the car of my choice, and leave. No hassle, no standing in line to get processed. The staff is efficient and always courteous. Great company!”

“We recently returned from Kauai for a week, when we rented from Enterprise via Expedia. Enterprise is usually my first choice on the mainland, but this was my first time with them in Hawaii. Once I got off the plane I immediately headed out to the car rental shuttle while my wife went to wait for our luggage. There were only 3 customers on the shuttle bus. Upon arrival to the car rental office, there were a few agents in the office, and two other customers who had already been helped. This office location handled 3 major rental company brands, with Enterprise being the smallest of the 3, and obviously more recently added. I immediately walked up to the first agent, with no waiting. The young lady who helped me was very nice, professional and efficient. I rejected their insurance as always, when I told her I have coverage via my CC, and she said "no problem". After signing all of the paperwork, she said to go to the front line of vehicles and choose any car from that line. I immediately noticed that they did not have the "Standard" size Ford Edge we had reserved (and that price paid), but only 4 of the larger sized SUV's and the rest were Minivans in that line. I then asked an attendant outside to confirm that I could take any car in that line, as they don't have what I reserved. She looked at my paperwork and said that all of the smaller vehicles are sold out, so I received a free upgrade to any vehicle in that front line. I selected the nicest and cleanest of them, a new-ish Ford Explorer Limited 4x4 fully loaded SUV, nearly perfect condition, and I thought I just won the car rental lottery for the week! The initial price to rent this "top of the line" Explorer (an $80k car) would have rented for 2 to 3 times what I paid for a standard car. I walked around to inspect it, and it did not any damage to the pearl white paint, and it was clean and ready to go! On most previous trips to the Islands, the cars we have rented from the other companies are typically mid-size SUVs, and they usually come wet or dirty as they only wash but do not dry their cars. I never really thought about it during past trips, but Enterprise seems to care more about their customer service and their fleet as compared to other major companies. I will likely chose Enterprise first for my future car rental needs when given the choice. Thanks Enterprise!”

“I am glad I used this local Kauai business! It was only $100 for a 3 day rental, the car was clean with a full tank of gas and the owners of this car rental pleasant to work with! Their lot was not too hard to find, although not right at the airport, it was close enough.”

“We rented a Kia soul with Herman and it was a great experience; really easy and kind. The car was as new as you can imagine, we drove through the island without any problems at all. To return it we only needed it to fill it up and leave it in the parking lot with the locking box. We could enjoyedthe island every minute. We are greatful and happy!”

“Allsave is a great alternative. We saved about 25% over the competitors. Our car rental previously canceled and we got this one the day of for a great price about $120 less than what we paid for the other place. They were swamped with customers, but we got through the line in about five minutes instead of about an hour with some of the big name companies. The manager said he was new at that location but handled it like a pro.The cars had a few blemishes here and there and a little dirty, but we will definitely come back. The staff was very attentive and were getting customers in and out of the checkin process within about five minutes. Incredible service.”

“In the same building as the budget car rental location. The same shuttle bus. The airport doesn't have a sign that says 'payless' bus pickup, but its the same as the budget bus. It was easy to book a car online, they have a decent inventory, obviously if you are going for a place that is called 'payless' you aren't going to find many luxury options but you will find cheap economy cars to get you around. Pickup was a bit slow, because only 1 person working the counter, drop off was quick though. All in all, it was an easy experience and a quick way to get a car on the island.”

“From picking up our car on arrival to dropping it off on departure, everything went smoothly. The shuttles come around often. The lady who checks the cars when they are dropped off, went above and beyond for me. I had left my water bottle in the back seat. No one else seemed willing to help me retrieve it except her. She sent a young lady to where the car had been taken to look for it and let me know right away that the young lady confirmed she had found it and was bringing it. My family will definitely use Hertz again.”

“I am writing this review based on my experience at this location; with one big caveat. We arrived right after our plane landed and we were ~3rd in line. It took 30-45 minutes to be seen and get our car. By the time we were at the counter there was a line out the door, likely at least a 3-hour wait. We declined insurance because we get it free with our credit card. The parking lots in Kauai are extremely cramped. I'm surprised there aren't door dings everywhere. Be careful! As for the car itself, apparently island weather isn't kind to cars. There were less than 30k miles on the dash and I'd have guessed it was over 70k. The interior was a little dirty and the glass was so oily it whited out at certain angles. Thankfully there were no hidden charges other than the expected taxes.”

“We rented a vehicle when we arrived on our vacation because I was in such a hurry I did not inspect vehicle tires a little too warn out for the adventures we were going to take. We took the vehicle back 2 days later and the manager went above and beyond for us in getting us an exchange vegetable. The vehicle was also a better one and we enjoyed our adventures. We will definitely rent from here again in the future.”

“Jeez, people are awfully shocked that a popular travel destination has long wait times for affordable rental cars. Grow up people. The staff are quite lovely considering how how many jerks they deal with.”
