“I delivered an Instacart order here. I didn't set out to find coffee at all, but coffee found me! Taylor and Christopher were so gracious. The Americano was on point. Never got bitter even as it cooled. I'll be returning as a paying customer very soon.”

“This place is such a GEM. This store has a wide selection of new and used books, and it's so much larger than it looks!! I could spend hours in here, and it's just so fun to hunt for books. You really also can't beat the prices, and you can find such like-new used books starting at $5! Absolutely can't wait to spend hours on end here!”

Not only did they have all of the things I needed, they have an amazing knowledgable staff that really cares about the success of your project. This should be your first stop in any project.”

“I’m so glad that the Waste Shed exists! I almost always find some good stuff when I pop in to look around. Also most of the staff is super friendly and welcoming!-1 star because it’s unnecessarily difficult to determine when they’re open. The hours posted outside of the business don’t match the hours on their website which also don’t match the hours on Google. For some reason, the hours posted on Google are more frequently the correct hours. I’d suggest calling before you head over just to be doubly sure that they’re really open at the specific location you intend to visit. On more than a few occasions I’ve driven to the store fully believing them to be open for normal business only to find that they’re closed.”

“Super cool spot. Upon arriving, I had no clue where the entrance was. It was only when people came out of the building that I realized that was the entrance. Once inside, I was left in awe of the magnitude of the place. A huge old warehouse transformed into a book “store”? Absolutely amazing. REMEMBER, you put the price in the books, not the other way around. When I was here, the cashier tried to give me a price when it shouldn't be like that. Don't feel intimidated and pay whatever you think is fair. There’s also a Spanish section right by the entrance.”

“It was easy to make reservations and the onboarding process was super easy (they just go over the rules before you enter the cat room)You get one free non-alcoholic drink upon arrival and about an hour to play with the cats. There are MANY cats of all ages. You can walk around and play with them, but most people picked a spot and waited for cats to come to them.I fell in love with a chubby orange cat named Jack Tripper”

“This HAS to become better organized. One person is let in, 8-10 minutes later the next person is let in. 2 hours and 45 minutes to move up a line the length of 4 storefronts.I used to volunteer at the Foster location, where people were guided through the sections, picked things out, and everyone was able to proceed in a steady flow.God bless the volunteers, I am happy to have food when I don't know how I'm going to make rent, but has this problem been noticed as a real concern, and addressed at all?”

“Located in a large modern architectural building in the Chicago neighborhood, Lawndale, BBF is very welcoming. They offer so many important services in this low-income community. -Social programs, academic tutoring, emotional health services and career development opportunities. When I was asked to volunteer at a city wide "baby shower" and toy giveaway, I knew immediately that I wanted to do it. Spending my day greeting expectant mothers and children who were anxious to pick out toys, I was so glad to be a part of the event. I knew that Lawndale had a lot of gun violence, but I still met way more young pregnant mothers who had just recently lost their partners to it than I expected. Way more. Gun violence and poverty is a serious threat to this community, so organizations like Building Brighter Futures are so needed. The event held here was pretty amazing. Not only were there tons of brand new baby clothing, but there were also new strollers, pack-n-plays, and breast pumps. They had free toys for kids and they had massage therapists on site who were offering free prenatal massages for the expectant mothers. It was truly wonderful to see so many people come together to help some of the most vulnerable people in this community. -women and children. This is a great organization to consider if you're wanting to donate time and money to something of real value.”

“Had a wonderful time at the art center this past Saturday. It was my first time in Chicago in general, and my best friend and I were looking for local art centers to check out and museums. I'm glad we went to the SSCAC, as we saw works by Black artists and even got to chat with the ED, and attend a Q and A. Places like these serve as integral parts of a community, and I would highly recommend others go too to learn some history and view gorgeous art.”

“I took my rusted & busted bike there thinking it may be past the point of repairing or that it'd be cheaper to just buy a new bike.Anthony fixed my bike in 30 minutes for $20. He was super nice and knowledgeable. The place was popping, it seems like they have a lot of regulars come by to say hey and get tune ups. Definitely go here! A different shop nearby said it'd be 3 weeks before they could even look at my bike!”

“Can't say enough good things about NLOL Chicago! I adopted Teddy from them 8 years ago, and to this day they still keep in touch with me and help me with any questions I might have! They are 100% volunteer run so they don't have an actual shelter facility, just their homes and their hearts. They genuinely enjoy hearing his updates and even seeing him at events over the years! If you have other pets in the home, of course they should be spayed/neutered to adopt another. That's a known fact of most reputable rescue organizations. :)”

“I’ve been taking piano and vocal lessons at ACM for a couple years and I love it! My teachers are great at challenging me while keeping their expectations fair and realistic for my current level as a student. The teachers have their own specialties and teaching style, which helps create new learning opportunities for us as students. My current teacher is a wealth of information and has given me guidance and exercises that have helped me improve tremendously and become more confident as a musician in training. Thank you ACM!”

“As an Insurance Agent in Illinois, I'm proudly registered with the Illinois FAIR Plan Association as this allows me to find Homeowners Insurance for Illinois families that have had a bad string of luck in recent times with having to file home insurance claims only to be non-renewed by their carrier and also unable to find insurance elsewhere due to being ineligible due to their recent claims history. The FAIR Plan offers a variety of Coverage Plans and Various Deductibles to meet the affordability of their policy holders. I will always support an association that provides home insurance to those who can't find it. In many cases these families still have Mortgages and are required to carry Homeowners Insurance. Furthermore, weather related claims and many homeowner claims aren't within the homeowners control. Thanks for helping Illinois families Illinois FAIR Plan Association.”

“Cliff Dwellers is an amazing asset to the City of Chicago. It is of no surprise that they'll have been established for over 100 years. Their recent meet and greet was an incredible opportunity for groups seeking funding to meet with different foundations looking to bridge the gap. It is a great club because of its amazing members. And the view is just priceless.”
