Pet Grooming

K-9 Couture
14408 West 151st Street, Homer GlenThe trainer, Corinne, is the best. I started bringing my senior dog to her a week after I got him, at a different location. She helped me take him from a dog/human reactive, resource guarding dog that only knew sit and paw to a dog that I frequently receive behavior compliments for!
Her classes are always educational and encouraging, and the best part, she does not use aversive methods!

Creativity Unleashed
17928 S Parker Rd, Homer GlenBella is a high maintenance dog that always hated to be groomed. Bridget and Jackie have always taken great care of her and she loves her visits now. Very well mannered and professional. Both are big animal lovers and will love your pets like their own. Highly recommend to bring your furry pet to them.

Animal Care Clinic: Hoyt Mandy DVM
13061 W 143rd St, Homer GlenWe left our previous vet for ACC and have been so happy! Our previous vet had awful bedside manner, was dismissive in his answers to us and muzzled our extremely socially anxious puppy at visits to ease his own anxiety (he was convinced he would bite him when there was no history nor sign of that occurring and I was the one holding him). When we took our dogs to our first visit at ACC, Dr. Summerville took her time to bond with our dogs before completing any exams, politely and professionally answered all questions/concerns, and provided meaningful answers in addressing our dog's social anxiety (including writing a prescription for meds as needed which our previous vet never did). When looking at our chihuahua's teeth, she recommended a good cleaning and some teeth removals under anesthesia instead of talking down to us for "not cleaning his teeth" (which our previous vet did); she empathized with us when she discussed how difficult it was for us to do that at home with him. Overall, the move to ACC has already been night and day for us and we couldn't be happier to have found this office with staff that clearly care for the animals and owners they serve. Highly recommend bringing your pets here!

Colonial Manor Animal Hospital
13726 W 159th St, Homer GlenI was recommended to come here with my bearded dragon since it’s so hard to find a vet that takes “exotic” animals. Since that I have brought my cat and dogs here and loved it. They have provided exceptional service and cared for my animals as if it was their own. I will continue to recommend them to all my friends and families.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

La Crepe Bistro
13957 S Bell Rd, Homer GlenWhile in town, a friend suggested to meet at La Crepe Bistro for lunch. When we arrived, there was no parking which indicated that it is quite the spot! After circling the parking lot for 5-10 minutes we were finally able to snag a spot! We were asked if we had a reservation (we did not) and the server said they only take reservations that day but we’re able to fit us in which was great.
We were able to get a cute table for the three of us and were promptly greeted by the server. I really don’t know if she even told us her name, but she was okay. Not very friendly but their dresses and hair were stunning! Really fits the vibe of the bistro theme so that was fun.
The menu is incredible and has a wide variety of options. There is definitely something for everyone. I ordered the croissant sandwich that came with a choice of ham, Canadian bacon, or bacon. Opted for the bacon. It was absolutely delicious. Skip the mustard on the sandwich though, it was a little too much. Fries and fruit were great! Before I even had the chance to ask, the berry crepe was already devoured so I think you can assume it was amazing! The burger was also good I was told. Everything was fresh and the presentation was very cute.
Once we were done, we stayed for a bit to catch up and chit chat but we were getting the impression the servers wanted us to leave as they almost immediately dropped off the check and were hovering around the table. Finally, we decided to leave because the looks just got uncomfortable and as we were putting on our coats to leave they were already clearing the rest of the table rolling their eyes. Kind of disappointing considering it wasn’t like people were waiting for a table or anything.
Overall, atmosphere and food was fantastic!!! We will definitely be back but will take our time eating so that we don’t get the boot or ugly stares by the servers.

TLC Animal Shelter
13016 W 151st St, Homer GlenI wish I could adopt every animal there! The staff allows you to walk and play with the dogs in the yard so that you can have some time alone with them to see how they interact with you. I have adopted 2 cats from there over the years and will choose TLC in the future to adopt again when I'm ready and able to have another pet.
