Yesterday, I accidentally Zelled $500 to your employee Jose Hernandez. I was trying to pay one of my trades because I work as an interior designer; it did not occur to me that I had paid the Jose from your store.
Jose called me, identified himself, and took initiative to address the confusion; he could have easily pretended he did not know who I am and just kept the money. Yet he paid me back within a few hours. This is an example of honesty and decency that I feel I cannot count on very often and I want him to be commended for it.
While most of the people at your store are always courteous, Jose is one of the only ones who goes out of his way to greet me and be helpful. Here is the significance: he is helpful, not just courteous. Please keep him on staff and pay him handsomely for his services because I truly believe he makes Ace The Place to Shop in Highland Park.

“Bought a B&D 20v 3/8" Cordless Driver/Drill Online yesterday, and brought MY current B&D 20v Cordless Drill in for comparison, the knowledgeable young man at the Front Register answered my questions effectively, thus I was "attempting" to buy a New Tool that was essentially the Same so I cancelled this purchase and was Refunded my Charges... GREAT Customer Satisfaction demonstrated by This Store!!! ???✔️?”
“I forget about them because they're tucked back. Always drive by it but had to get spackling and a putty knife. So went there just like going to the old neighborhood hardware store. I missed that and I was able to get a pecan log?”
“One night I went into our bedroom and found a chipmunk on our bed. Quickly went to our local Ace and asked for help. The sales associate told me what product I could use (sticky pads) and gave me directions on how to use it, even suggesting using peanut butter as bait. I went home and followed his directions. An hour later Mr. Chipmunk was stuck to the pad and we were able to remove him from our home. Thanks Ace.”

“Been coming here for years. Sometimes everyday for a week. Staff has always been great at w answering questions. Cant beat the prices or warranties, and the quality of the products is higher than you would expect. Sammy helped me out at the register the other day and he was very good at making sure we knew about the current and upcoming deals, as well as the free gifts they sometimes give out to Inside Club Members. Really happy to have one close to home. Will be coming here probably for the rest of my life.”

“Had to duck in to buy a couple feet of wire for a light switch install. The store was staffed very lightly but the cashier was able to flag down the manager on duty. The manager tracked down the right wire, cut it to length, and peppered in some DIY knowledge along the way. Even though the wire only cost a couple bucks, he never rushed me.
Glad to have this store in the area for quick trips. Staff are friendly and professional. Certainly beats the longer trip to the big box home improvement store.”

“We were looking for a refrigerator. Went to Lowes then four other stores including the two main competitors. We decided on a model Menards had but just before buying my son googled and found the same fridge on sale $400 cheaper at Lowes. Plus they had a $50 off on purchases over $500. The other placed wouldn’t deliver on Sunday but Lowe’s said it would. The salesman was super friendly. Great experience and saved a bundle. And that a pretty “cool” deal.”
“Good bunch of people. They know how to get you what you need . If they don't have it they find it and get it fast . Delivery is available, they have access to a lift that can get your stuff to the roof in many cases . Commercial sales here not for homeowners. Very nice that they stock more than one of most items . So you can get a couple of an item at one time . Many others these days have only have min stock on site and you always get told "I can have that for you in a day "”
“I had a fantastic experience at the Home Depot in Gurnee. The store was well-organized and had a wide variety of products available. The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, assisting me in finding exactly what I needed for my home improvement project. The checkout process was smooth and efficient. Even though I went into the self check out, the cashier was very helpful to scan all my items too! Overall, a great place to shop for all your home improvement needs.”
“Only reason why I give Home Depot 4/5 Stars is due to their unwillingness (on a corporate level) to accept NFC Payments (Apple Pay, etc.).
For the record… at this point, ALL three of Home Depot’s direct big-box competitors; Lowe’s, Menards, and Ace Hardware; accept Apple Pay. HD is one of the few-remaining retail companies who continue to take this stubborn stance.
I know this is a corporate issue, but it’s still a bit ridiculous that there are places where I can’t pay with my digital wallet in 2024.
Otherwise, great selection, clean store, and friendly service. The usual to be expected at HD. ?”
