I have been here with 2 cats, my sister/brother in law’s very old and very sick cat who they treated extremely well. I saw this first hand when I was cat sitting and he needed to take the cat in. They helped him (and his “brother”) live a long comfortable life even after they got ill - and my SIL said they were gentle and wonderful when it was time to put them down.
When I moved to the Downers Grove area I switched my vet care for my cat to Abbeywood. My cat has some serious chronic conditions and developed a new one more recently. Both Drs. Ubatuba and Johnston were fine with my not wanting to spend a lot of time and money to intensively treat the intestinal cancer we suspected. Instead, he gets care to prevent bladder stones, medicine for his thyroid, and added a steroid for his suspected intestinal cancer - reduced the inflammation, increased his comfort and has given him another happy year so far (they did not force me into expensive tests, surgery or chemo since he’s an old cat). They would have done the tests if I had wanted to know definitively what was causing my cat’s misery - and treated if we wanted to do that.
Abbeywood’s team is really attuned to what you need and as far as I can tell, technically great (getting blood and urine samples from my cat has never been easy).
Can’t say enough good about them.

518 N Warwick Ave, WestmontOur pup, Burnham (famed armpit smelling dog) passed away, suddenly late Christmas Day 2023 at 12 1/2 years old. He had Dr. Muehrke when he was a pup for few years and then Dr. Vidt. Later, he had his last 5+years with Dr. McCallian. All doctors are incredible, but Dr. McCallian was outstanding. Our new pup, Cooper (rescued from Kentucky with twelve siblings) we had planned to see Dr. McCallian but he was on maternity leave with his wife, so we saw Dr. Kayson--another fabulous experience. He was great with Cooper and made him feel very comfortable. He explained all questions we had plus provided us with a plethora of information (haven't had a pup in 12 1/2 years) --which was very helpful, thus far. We have never had a bad experience with anyone--including the front desk and techs. I highly recommend them to everyone! Thanks for continuing excellent care for our pups over almost 14 years. You are all much appreciated always.

El Arroyito Mexican Restaurant
214 E Chicago Ave, WestmontIt was Christmas Eve, and I had a hankering for Mexican. We looked all over for someplace open - most of the Mexican restaurants nearby hadn't listed their holiday hours in Google maps (but since they didn't answer their phones, I assume they were closed). Or else they explicitly listed holiday hours in Google maps, but when we actually arrived, they weren't open. But we finally found this restaurant open.
The menu contains what I always think of as standard tex-mex fare -- burritos, enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, and such. And it's somewhat lacking in ambience, with a diner-like atmosphere. But boy was the food good! I had the burrito bowl and my spouse had the enchiladas suiza platter. They were both delicious! I don't remember ever having better burritos and enchiladas. The flan we had for dessert was excellent. And service was wonderful. We arrived late - only an hour before they closed, on a holiday eve, but they didn't ever rush us or make us feel we'd overstayed our welcome (even tho we were the last people to leave, unfortunately).
It was such a pleasant experience, and an enjoyable place to have Xmas Eve dinner.
We will definitely be back!
