She’s kind, gentle and caring which is my first priority, but, her grooming skills are exceptional. I’m always pleased with how my “pup” turns out, and, I always get asked about who grooms her. Additionally, Suzy discovered that my dog had a cracked tooth that needed prompt attention, and she put me in touch with a vet that specializes in veterinary dental care. She is THE BEST of THE BEST!

6309 Woodward Ave, Downers GroveOur dog Ginger is a mid-mini golden labradoodle who is 5 years old, has long poodle legs, 35 pounds on her drivers license ? with kinky curly poodle hair. She goes every 4-5 weeks for grooming (those tight tight curls!) and gets gentle shampoo weekly baths at home. Steve and Mark are very patient with her. She’s always excited to go and comes home smelling great, looking well groomed and very happy. She usually gets a puppy cut and sometimes a nicer fancy dog cut where she looks more like Lady from lady & the tramp - longer ear more spaniel looking which is very flattering. We don’t ask for any particular cut and she always looks good. Either way we’re very grateful they took her on at a year old and we’ve been loyal ever since. Did I mention the reasonable pricing? At every 4 weeks it adds up! Clean salon, good cuts, kind owners and lounging safe in her kennel (err cage?) while she waits. She’s half poodle and doesn’t come home with loose stools IYKYK. She feels safe there. We love the results. Pic is her, shaggy and due for a cut - the longer fall winter coat cut with a shorter sporty ear.

424 75th Street, Downers GroveDr. Katz is a wonderful Veterinarian, knowledgeable, dedicated and caring. Our dog was really struggling, digestive problems, aging quickly, limping and losing interest in activities she usually enjoyed. We had been working with a veterinarian for over a year on her digestive issues with little success and the only advice for her limping was a medication with side effects. Within a few weeks of seeing Dr. Katz, Jetty was already showing huge improvement. It has now been about 2 months and she is doing great. She rarely limps, her digestion is perfect (no more diarrhea and vomiting) and she once again enjoys her walks, likes to play and heads up the stairs with no hesitancy. I am confidant she will continue to improve with the changes Dr. Katz has recommended. We are so grateful and feel that Dr. Katz has added quality years to Jetty's life.

Animal Care Center of Downers Grove
941 63rd Street, Downers GroveI had to leave the country for over a month due to my brother's wedding and planned visits to see my extended family. I was nervous sick about who would take care of my dog while I was gone. My dog is blind and requires 5 different eye drops throughout the day to control her glaucoma/pain level.
After a few failed arraignments with family and friends, I called the ACC of DG for a last-minute consultation and they reassured me that they could more than handle my dog's needs in their medical boarding facility. She is almost seven and had never been in a boarding facility even when she could still see.
While dropping her off was difficult for me, the attitude of the staff made me feel comfortable and confident that she would be taken care of for 34 days. Along the way, I was able to call once a week and get updated. Many of the updates were provided by an employee named Ricky. He had not only developed a bond with her and took it on himself to keep an eye on her, he also went above and beyond to send me pictures and videos of her over the time that I was gone.
I am forever grateful to Ricky and the ACC of DG team for treating my dog like their own and knocking her care out of the park for the time that I was gone. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone for any of the services that they offer. Vet/hospital services, day care, boarding or grooming. They do it all and you won't be disappointed.

2551 Warrenville Road, Downers GroveNo one wants to have to visit the emergency vet at 1 in the morning. Unfortunately, this is what happened and I am incredibly grateful for the staff that was there.
The only complaint is that there wasn’t a cot to sleep on while they cared for my dog lol
I called in around 1 am and the woman who answered was kind, patient, and answered my questions, including general pricing, putting my mind at ease.
Around 1:30, we arrived at VCA and were welcomed in, asked a few questions, filled out some intake forms, and my 14 old pup was lovingly taken up to the second floor for vitals and observation.
For the next hour (but what felt like 4 lol) I read some issues of Ranger Rick, checked out the tea and coffee service area, and napped in like 3 different places.
We were then put into a room where the vet came in and discussed options to ease the nausea and pain my dog was experiencing until I could get her to the vet the next morning.
They were not pushy about procedures, they listened to me, and they allowed me to make informed decisions on my dog’s health care. I felt that I could trust them and was thankful to know that my dog wasn’t in need of immediate care, but that they helped her get through the night until her vet opened the next morning.
The visit was covered through her Banfield plan, and the medications were reasonably-priced.
In the past, an emergency vet trip for something minor seemed scary. I feel confident in having VCA Arboretum View close by on the evenings when I may not feel so confident about my pet’s health.

Belle Aire Kennels
4205 Belle Aire Ln, Downers GroveI recently had to board my rescue Husky/Amer. Eskimo mix Wolf for a month while I've been recovering from knee replacement surgery. I needed to make sure I could walk him before bringing him home. He's on prescription kibble and meds so I prepared daily meal/pill packets to make it easier to care for him. Since he was staying so long, I needed to make sure he got out in the play yard every day (weather permitting) to get some exercise without any other dogs because he's reactive. When I picked him up, he was pretty clean for not being groomed for a month and he didn't smell. While Belle Aire does grooming, Wolf is a handful requiring drugs and a muzzle. So, it was decided that I would schedule an appt. with his regular groomer who has the magic touch with him when I got him home. The rates were reasonable. I am very pleased by the care he received at Belle Aire Kennels. Highly recommended!

He took the time to understand our dog’s unique needs and taught us effective hand signals and communication techniques that have made such a difference. Our dog is more confident, responsive, and happy, and we feel so much more connected because of everything we’ve learned.
The entire staff is incredible. From John, who always starts the mornings with a friendly smile, to Tina, who was so helpful and supportive throughout the entire process, everyone has been amazing. They truly make an awesome team. They are welcoming, professional, and genuinely care about both the dogs and their owners.
They’ve also been incredibly accommodating with our work schedules, allowing us to drop our dog off early and pick them up later when needed. That flexibility made the entire experience so much easier and completely stress-free.
Thank you, Carlos, John, Tina, and the entire team for your dedication, patience, and outstanding care. If you’re looking for a trainer who truly cares, has experience working with deaf dogs, and goes above and beyond for both dogs and their owners, we wholeheartedly recommend Carlos and his team. Omega Restaurant Pancake House & Bakery
1300 Ogden Ave, Downers GroveOrders kind of got messed up. Ordered a gyro plate and a gyro sandwich. Well they are the same thing. They are both wraps but the sandwich does not come with all the fixing but comes with a pickle and onions. No tomatoes, lettuce, olives, or cheese. Just meat, onions, and a pickle with very little sauce.
Don't know what is up with the hot sauce bottles but nothing comes out. They all are missing the hole and we have nothing to make one.
They do give you a lot of fries so no need for everyone else to order a side of fries.
The gyro sandwich does come with dessert which we didn't know until we paid and was going out the door.
The minestrone soup is just plain vegetables soup with no pasta or meat so don't order it as not that good as it's over cooked were the vegetables had no flavor as they are mushy.
The real butter is a plus but they don't give you the good bread or a basket like other Omega does with crackers.
This place is just different from what we were used too

At this price point I expected just a little bit more. Again nothing wrong but nothing stood out at the end of the meal.
I am from out of town so my perception is different. But this was steak in Chicago.

The staff is wonderful and all the animals are well cared for. No matter what condition an animal is in when they arrive, WSHS does not give up on them and the staff will do everything in their power to make sure every animal has a fighting chance at finding their forever family. My parents have also adopted a dog here three separate times, the most recent being a few months ago. When I am ready to adopt, this place will be my first stop ❤️
