“I’ve been shopping at this location for almost 6 years, and I’ve generally had positive experiences. I truly enjoy most of the employees I interact with, which makes this situation even more disappointing. Today, April 24th (my daughter’s 1st birthday) I came in to pick up a cake I had ordered two weeks in advance for her birthday. I was really excited to see how it turned out, but when it was handed to me, I was immediately disappointed. It looked nothing like the reference photos I had provided. When I expressed my concern, the decorator explained that she made it that way so it “wouldn’t dry out,” which was never mentioned at the time of ordering. I ended up returning the cake and walking away, already upset. While grabbing a small item for my daughter, I noticed the same baker shrugging her shoulders and saying “oh well.” That attitude was honestly more frustrating than the cake itself. I’ve never experienced this kind of dismissiveness here before. I do believe I spoke with the bakery manager, and she did offer to discount the cake or remake it, which I appreciate, but at that point, I was too upset and just wanted to leave. This was a really important day for my family, and the experience fell far short of expectations. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so future customers don’t have a similar experience. Edit: Thank you Alban for righting your wrong! The replacement cake was incredible! My kids, husband and the rest of my family really enjoyed it”
“Not much else around east side of fairgrounds. HyVee and Fareway all the way east in Pleasant Hill at least a solid 4 miles plus the nasty University Ave race track driving. Anyways, this is a smaller Aldi compared to say Windsor Heights with tons of greater selections plus a huge self service checkout which this location does not have unfortunately. This Aldi is a great GREAT catch all imo for needed items on the way home. Their cashiers are 10 out of 10, everyone of them. Stockers might give the cold shoulder at times, but hey that’s a norm all over these days. Most of the time all regular items in stock, milk, eggs, breads, produce, waters, juices, ice cream (a staple no?), etc., etc. Parking lot tuff sometimes at peak periods and sometimes the typical homeless (according to their handheld signs) standing entrance if parking lot or occasionally at the door. Same thing at QT few blocks east. Store is good because of its location and I don’t wish to go another 10 minutes each way down to Pleasant Hill or 20-25 minutes to Altoona 8th Street shopping area. Go in with a frown and cashiers will turn that around, at least with me anyway.”

It was hard to find at first because they don't have a large sign like other businesses do. I thought they were non-existent when I arrived! Hopefully they start to offer more. “People are cared about there, they actually hire real people. They hire families/ Teens from the community instead of self check machines! They have a large selection and excellent meat / fish department! Sushi and dining available! Great bakery! And deli. I saw an employee with an umbrella rushing out into a thunderstorm to help an elderly disabled person safely get into their car with their groceries as the rain fell and hailstones started falling. It made a good impression! Keep up the good work!”

Realm lets you browse "digital doubles" of real Walmart products by navigating through several make-believe worlds. Target's new low-cost brand Dealworthy is rolling out this month in stores and online. With items starting at under $1, it is aimed at budget-conscious shoppers. The low prices on basics like phone chargers, paper plates and underwear will likely appeal.
