“Updated 7/2025_ Changed from 1 star rating from 2018 to 5 star. I came back to Budget a few years ago because they often do have the best prices. I'm glad I gave this a new location another chance since there is new, much kinder, pleasant staff. Specifically Bindy is the BEST! She's checked me in at least 8x in the last few years & is consistent, professional and exemplary. I definitely can recommend this Budget location again. The cars aren't the cleanest in the business,but their prices are great & I've never had any mechanical issues once with any of their vehicles. I do believe the vehicles are well maintained
I've rented hundreds of cars in my life & I have been a loyal customer to this Budget location because of the kindness of previous employee Avery. The newer employee is extremely rude & and I will never return here not refer anyone here again because of the rudeness & because of the way I was degraded in front of another customer. These last 2 rental experiences here have been awful. The cars are always filthy here because they don't have proper facilities to clean them. I was asked by the new employee to pick up this last rental car at a different location in KCMO (why couldn't they had it here for me?I had 2 autos reserved) & it absolutely REEKED of marijuana. There were no other cars available so had to take it. When I returned the rental car after over 2 weeks of renting, the employee whom I dropped the car off to was hateful, embarrassed me in front of another customer and even threatened me with cleaning fees because he said it may take him 45 min to vacuum the car. There wasn't even mud or anything other than a little normal lint on the black cloth seats & dirt from shoes on the carpets. NOTHING abnormal, but made me so scared I actually went and took pictures and made videos for proof. It was so humiliating and inconvenient dealing with this guy. He should absolutely be fired because he hates his job and this location needs some serious help. DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION! Go to Enterprise down the street.”
“I’ve now rented from this location multiple times. Here’s the run-down of my experience:
1. Price: always among the best rates I can find anywhere for a local, round trip rental. I have a USAA discount code, so maybe that helps more than I think? Reasonable rates IMO but if you like to add the insurance, double it.
2. Service: generally this has been very good for me. One time I even left a bag in the car when I turned it in, and the employee collected it and made sure it was secure before dropping the car off for cleaning. I was able to pick it up the next day untouched. There is sometimes a wait (changes by the minute), and I agree with other reviewers that the staff sometimes seems overworked and burned out, so I hope corporate takes note! They always have my car ready though, and I haven’t had a bad experience.
3. Vehicles: this one is probably the main reason for the 4-star instead of five review - I usually am told I’m getting the “last available car” if the one they offer isn’t going to work well for me. They are usually very hastily cleaned and one even smelled of smoke (which we were able to swap vehicles for). It seems they are always busy, so I would hope they would have a bigger inventory, and a range of vehicles. Our last one was a very barebones “mid-size SUV” that wasn’t very comfortable for our long road trip. The vehicles just don’t seem very well cared for.
Overall, I’ll be back next time! Convenient location, good prices, and decent service make it work for me!”
“Ok so the customer service I received on literally every occasion while I rented a car through enterprise for nearly a month was insanely wonderful and helpful. These folks who’ve helped me at the 7800 Metcalf Ave location in Overland Park, KS are incredibly smart, quick, attentive, helpful, thorough, and* kind, and compassionate. You can tell when you go into the physical location that they are confronted with stressful and busy challenges, possibly frequently because I saw it each of the times I came in and sometimes when the phone lines were busy, but these employees were incredibly professional and maintained such a powerful flow, making sure everyone, every phone call, and myself were helped through and through. I’d be very proud and grateful to have this kind of staff under my care as a manager or within any leadership role in this company. Two things I want to share, however, one: I hope this location isn’t understaffed, and if so, I hope more positions are filled soon to help this team out, and two: I hope the staff at this location are being paid greatly for the work and services they dedicate and provide for this enterprise location and company.
