“Amazing place to stay and relax, 10/10, awesome in every detail, also dog friendly!!!Rooms: Stayed at the beach suite, huge and very cozy furnished. Had chocolate and coffee. Balcony haf the best view to beach. Hot tub is also very super relaxing. Bed was big and super comfy.Nearby activities: Amazing beach is in 10 minutesWalkability: Has a nice walk way from the rooms to beach, has wine and sea food on the patio, fire places in the patio.”

“This B&B is one of the best I have been to. The historic inn is lovely. The setting is great in that there are several nice restaurants in the small, attractive college town, and it is close to Portland as well as many outdoor recreation areas. The accommodations are comfortable and there is everything you could need. The owner is super friendly and helpful. Her breakfasts are amazing. My husband and I have stayed here at least once a year for the past 10+ years and have never had a complaint. Do not hesitate to book a room.”

“This suite we had for 1 night came with a great room layout and was convenient to Portland Maine's downtown. We were near the Jetport but did not really notice the sound from our room. A sleeper sofa, t.v. desk, and lamps with small kitchen sink, fridge, and microwave in 1 room, and the other room had 2 queen beds with closet, full mirror, large sink and of course a separate bathroom. Great layout with door partitioning off the 2 rooms. Great for a large family. Then came the problems and there were many! The remote for the t.v. is extremely sensitive and a little confusing to use. The actual bathroom with toilet and shower is a little small and had many grout discolorations?? The queen beds were very uncomfortable and actually made the sides of my legs ache a little as i'm a side sleeper. The pillows were just not right so i'm glad i brought my own from home. The dresser had the typical 3 drawers and the t.v sat on top of it. We didn't use the pull out sofa bed in the first room but i wish i had at least tried to use sofa for a bed. maybe my legs would not have ached so much. One last room item to note was that the heater made a pulsating noise that was really bothersome. Perhaps i wouldn't have been able to use it due to the heater noise. The breakfast was a little better than i expected in the variety of offerings but the taste of the pancakes, omelet made to order, and sugar free syrup was horrible!!! When we first arrived and saw the layout we were quite pleased. The front desk was nice enough as well. That being said, the room just had too many problems for us to come back and we were glad to only have stayed 1 night.As an update to this review we have been contacted by Hilton and they have made things right by us for the horrible night we had at their hotel. Thank you Hilton!”

“i had a wonderful stay. Inn is convenient to airport and Amtrak. Accommodation is spotless. Room was lovely. Fireplace was appreciated in November. Location wonderful for walker. “We thoroughly enjoyed our stay this past weekend at the HGI downtown Portland. The valet staff was very welcoming and friendly. Front desk always had a smile and were very helpful. Our waterfront room was very comfortable and spacious. We only had breakfast at the restaurant but the blueberry pancakes were SO delish. My husband really appreciated the fresh coffee available early in the morning. Having the keurig in the room is nice but my husband really enjoyed the fresh coffee. We're looking forward to our next stay at IGH downtown Portland in May. Thank you everyone:)Rooms: The room was very spacious and comfortable.Nearby activities: There's a great walking trail nearby as well as breweries within a mile of the hotel.Walkability: Being in such a great location, it's easy to walk to so many great waterfront restaurants. “Great option for a short stay at the beach. Location can't be beat. Rooms are clean. Small fridge, 2 burner electric stove with pots/pans. Dishes provided. Front of house rooms with a nice porch and partial ocean view. Great place to sit and get an ocean breeze. Everyday housekeeping changes towels, empties trash etc. We have been there twice this summer and will be back for another 3 night stay in August. Joe and Ann Marie are excellent hosts.Rooms: CleanNearby activities: Beach is 200 steps away. Several restaurants within walking distance. Within a couple miles of Old Orchard Beach”

“I absolutely loved our stay at the Portland Harbor Hotel. The hotel has a beautiful nautical design theme that translates into the rooms. We stayed there for one night and we were able to check in very early and use the gym twice. The hotel is so close to all the major shops and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this room to anyone visiting the area!”

“Absolutely lovely hotel! Had the opportunity to stay here over a holiday visit home to Maine and was delighted with the service, as well as the accommodations.VERY close the the Portland airport, with a gas station on the way out of the parking lot, which made it easy to fill up the rental car with gas. There is a a pool on site, as well as a small weight room and laundry accommodations. The front desk did have appropriate things for purchase (dryer sheets, detergent) if you did need to do laundry!! Also had small snacks and microwave meals, freezer snacks and cold drinks for people not wanting to order out or go to a local restaurant.The rooms themselves were fantastic! Very spacious with a full-size fridge, coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher and dishes. Desk and chair. Additional blankets, pillow and sheets, and a pull out couch. My couch had an ottoman (not sure if all rooms do.) Loved that the closets have a little pull curtain. Bathrooms were very clean, and rooms had self regulated thermostats. (Not all hotels across US do!)As always in a hotel, there was a bit of a sound disturbance next door, but I did the (normal?) adult thing and simply knocked on the door and had a brief conversation. This cannot be helped at hotels and I’m always shocked at the number of reviews that mention it. I figure I can address it faster and easier than the person checking people in and out.PLENTY of parking, friendly staff (especially Sarah), really love the upbeat and updated/ modern look to the hotel. My favorite part of the stay was my new friend “Sid” ?Definitely my go to hotel in that area now when I need to stay!”

“The reception and breakfast areas are beautifully presented in a fresh contemporary style. However, after this great first impression the hallways to the rooms were a disappointment as they were drab and stale. The ochre colours and brown patterned carpet harked back to the 70s. It could be that the inn is mid way through a refurbishment and the hallways will get updated in keeping with the reception area. (it would be a massive improvement to have lighter walls and hard flooring instead of carpet)The staff were great.The breakfasts were good too. Plenty of choice.I given 4 stars simply because the door key cards frequently wouldn't work so you'd have to go to reception for new cards, and the dated, rather stale nature of the hallways and the room carpets.Having said that, I would stay again.Rooms: The first room we were allocated smelt of damp and mould (like the hallway) the lady on reception showed us a couple more rooms for us to choose as soon as we raised the issue.”

“Good, clean, affordable hotel with breakfast and shuttle. If you need an early shuttle be out there waiting early since it seems to fill up. We got a spot, helpful driver. We were able to park there while in disney and called shuttle as soon as we found our luggage on return . Only waited about 15 mins. Driver kindly loaded our bags (tip your drivers). Breakfast was free and good. All in all a very pleasant stay. Would returnRooms: Clean and beds soft and comfy”

“One again, Inn By The Sea was a beautiful, treasured getaway for our family (including our family dog!). This Inn is beautiful inside and out with views of the gorgeous Atlantic Ocean a short walk away. We have started coming here twice a year and it is always a renewing and fun experience for our family. The staff are highly responsive and friendly and just do a remarkable job keeping things so lovely every day.”
