“The food is surprisingly fresh and tasty for a “snack bar”. If there's a lot going on, you may have to wait a while for your food, but it's worth it. The adjacent shops are probably part of it and are also worth seeing.”
“A Berkshire County gem! The samosas are so good, we had to go back the next day to get more. Delicious, non-greasy, and the tamarind sauce really takes the flavor over the top. The woman who runs the place is warm and friendly. And why are there women playing mah-jongg in the other room? Who knows--it's delightful!”
“Wild Oats has the freshest local meats and vegetables around. In addition, they offer a wide array of fresh baked goods and prepared meals. I shop there almost exclusively.”
“Always busy, unfortunately. But everyone loves a bargain and their gas is cheaper than anywhere. The air pump is also free, but is placed where you may risk getting hit by a car if you use the pump on the passenger side!”
“Amart is the best place to go!! We live near by & go many times a day for all our needs. Every worker is so awesome & they have amazing food at the deli & sides. I could go to any place in town, but we always choose the best AMART”
“Authentic Brazilian market in all ways. Food and drinks of high quality coming all the way from Brazil and giving you the chance go remember your homeland, for such a nice price. This place has been a heaven for me, since I came to this the Berkshires, and I believe any brazilian or person interested to know or use ingredients or elements of Brazilian cuisine can highly benefit of this place! 5 stars, no doubt!”
“Kudos to the bakery department. I purchased a full sheet cake for a birthday party and the guest were surprised that I got it at Big Y. They loved it and said if they wanted a cake in the near future, then they would have Big Y make it!!! Nice job as always ??”
“Brandy from the Ashland St cumbies is AMAZING!!!! I came in and she made all the things I asked for without question. She is a wonderful employee and should be recognized as such! GO BRANDY!”
“Great selection of products from all your grocery needs to souvenirs. They have a large selection of wines and beer. Dairy, eggs and yogurt too. T shirts and sweatshirts too. Friendly staff. Breakfast sandwiches, and deli style lunch and dinners too. Coffee bar for all your caffeine needs to. Awesome mountain vibe too!”
“The best grocery store in the area. Produce is always fresh and great quality. The lighting is comfortable, music is lovely, and staff are so kind. A real butcher counter is a plus!!! Even a lovely staff member who helps you with your cart! Big Y thank you for being here.”
“Super nice workers but the last three times I’ve asked for my deli meat to be sliced very thin by a young woman there..it was very not .. ? maybe just need a little more training on the slicer but very polite and friendly!”
“I will never go to another pharmacy, Alex, Stacy, and Kathy are fantastic and always make sure any questions are answered. Market is good but bakery and Meat selection can't compete with Market 32.”
“Interesting mix of products. I'm not sure how to use a lot of them but I can't wait to try them! They carry actual yams here and I've never seen them anywhere else in the Berkshires.”
“We had ordered a meat platter for a funeral and we mixed up the date and the deli team got the platter together and saved the day and just wanted to thank them so much! Truly appreciated!!!!”
“I had the pleasure of being greeted by Maddie at the Adams Hometown Markets' register, and she made an immediate positive impression. Before we even had a chance to say hello, she welcomed us with a big, warm smile. It was clear that Maddie was fully attentive to both the customers ahead of us and also to us, balancing professionalism and warmth seamlessly.
What truly amazed me was discovering she is a student! Maddie carries herself with such professionalism and polish, making it easy to mistake her for someone with years of experience. Her tall and elegant presence is matched by her kindness and authenticity. Our chat was delightful, with everything she said coming across as a genuine compliment.
Beyond Maddie’s exceptional service, the store itself was fantastic. The selection is great; they truly have a bit of everything I need. The food looks fresh and well-stocked, and the store is incredibly clean and tidy, almost shining. I felt really welcome from the moment I walked in. The deli food is also delicious—I could easily tell care is put into it. The baked goods are truly beautiful.
I also appreciate all the posters, signs, and displays around the store. It is clear Adams Hometown Markets is deeply involved in the community, whether through charity initiatives or hiring local talent. Meeting Maddie and enjoying the welcoming environment made my day, and I’ll certainly be returning!
To Maddie, I leave this Irish blessing: “May you have love that never ends, lots of money, and lots of friends. Health be yours, whatever you do, and may God send many blessings to you.” (It’s clear that with your warmth and kindness, Maddie, many good things are already in store for you)”
“There is no substitute for being able to scan and bag as you shop with little kids. Are they asking for too many things? Getting cranky? Won't stay in the cart? Just go check out without waiting in line! Great selection, good prices, clean. Many great "car carts" as we call them to push the kids around in. Always a good selection of day old beads at discounted prices.”

“Two things about the Pittsfield MA Aldi's: very speedy checkouts, and acceptable prices that help you handle this crazy high food inflation that exists at Market32 and Stop&Rob.”
“Super nice workers but the last three times I’ve asked for my deli meat to be sliced very thin by a young woman there..it was very not .. ? maybe just need a little more training on the slicer but very polite and friendly!”
“Walmart is everyone's go-to store in the North Adams/Adams area for groceries and pretty much all other shopping needs. The pick up orders also make it very convenient when you don't feel like walking around the store and shopping.”
“Each Dollar General, although following the same formula (employees stock AND tend to customers), varies significantly by the quality of its employees. Cheshire, MA DG is one of the best I've been in throughout the country. Still, upper management clearly cares more about moving cheap merchandise than its customers, and the customers don't seem to mind.”
“This particular Dollar General is very well stocked, orderly and houses helpful cheery staff, ample well placed parking, as well as the expected fair to low prices you'd expect to find in this chain. It's only real drawbacks are its out of the way location, but it is on a main road and is great if it's already between or near the place you are already heading.I personally have never had a hard time getting in and out quickly or been disappointed in variety of its stock (especially considering its smaller building size).Over all this store gets a healthy thumbs up.”
“Besides the fact that it's a miniature Walmart, with nothing that cost a dollar, great spot to pick up some Doritos of any flavor or an endless supply of knock off cereal. Solid candy selection, fast card reader, and lots of random stuff you'd never buy unless you were at Dollar general.”
“The Oil change was the fastest ever. Made an appointment yesterday for 2:30, (I really prefer early because it seems afternoon apps take forever), but nope, done in less than 45 minutes. The counter people were great dealing with as well. I'm sure I'm spoiled now but, that's OK, live for today.”
“Staff is nice. Management philosophy understaffs location (not just this store - only way for employees to catch up, it seems, is if someone stocks shelves on their own time), forcing the store to have unstocked shelves and boxes all over the place. Every time I visit, employees are not at register but out on floor stocking. No other store forces employees to do both. I hope they are paid more than other retail stores because they definitely work harder.”
