“I love coming to this place the music on it makes me feel warm. There are plants everywhere and they get the best iced hot chocolates. Me dad loves scones and they have a bunch here. They also have birthday cards that are so funny. And their shirts are out of this world. I highly recommend this store!!!!!!”

“This place is adorable. The workers are very nice and helpful. Their selection of toys are very interesting and fun for kids. Good place for gifts plus free gift wrapping.”
“Anywhere that has books is awesome but Porter Square Books goes above and beyond. I keep coming back time and again because of the people as well as the selection!”
“My absolute favorite place in Cambridge! Amazing selection in all departments, but my favorites are non-fiction, children's books (especially the staff picks -- I've discovered so many hidden gems thanks to them!), and the used book section in the basement (both the contents and the vibe). The staff members are amazingly helpful and knowledgeable, and they more than deserve a fair wage!”
“Very helpful staff. It's a place for anyone to enter who wants to expand their options as readers and citizens of the world. Broad selection for sure! Staff can help you hone in on in store and online options.”

“you would be hard pressed to find a shop with a better collection of american history books, let alone in the conditions and prices available, anywhere in the country.”
“A great bookstore, very large, well stocked and organized. Many historical and more recent books. I looked for a book by Dennis Lehane (the author of Mystic River, who is from Boston) but couldn't find it. Damage. But an address that I recommend for lovers of old paper.”

“Called this store to find a hard to find magazine and not only they had it but the agent whom I spoke was extremely kind and offered to hold it for me. I went there and found a top notch book store that includes an entire floor of used books. The staff was an absolute pleasure. I will certainly be back to this hidden jewel!”
“We go for breakfast fairly often when we bring our son to BU and we enjoy the fun vibe of the place. The food is good but I would not say it is noteworthy. I ordered poached eggs this time and I should have specified that I like them a bit firm and they were extremely runny but I perhaps should have said how I liked them - that said, we ordered via the QR code. I think in the future I will order directly through the servers because a couple of things happened as a result of us choosing QR. 1) We were served our coffee but nobody had given us any silverware and there was no wait-staff that wasn't already tending to other customers to bring us something to stir it with. I asked a passing server but they must have forgotten. So by the time our food came (with silverware) the coffee was cold. and 2) you can't specify stuff like "can they maybe cook the poached eggs a bit extra because I prefer them a bit firm. That all said, there is a happy vibe there and seems like lots of people are gathering there with someone they love and it has a buzzy happy feel. Plus the bookstore attached has so much fun stuff to browse. Best greeting card section ever. I stock up every timel”
“If you love (board games / rpgs / fantasy / science fiction / CCGs) Pandemonium is your place. A well organized really well stocked store with tons of events to enjoy. Pandemonium is a hub to enjoy your hobbies with others and also buy hard to find treasures.”

“Great local Book Store. Cashier was friendly, an it had a nice local vibe. Pizza Girl ruined the ability to eat Pizza and shop for books at the same time though. Don't be like Pizza Girl!”

“This store sells products and souvenirs with the theme of MIT, which is a research center of the highest level in the world, considered a leader in technology. They sell keychains, caps, t-shirts, sweaters, jackets, gloves, USB drives, among a variety of products. the prices...just like the rest of the state of Massachusetts, they are high prices. The clothes are made in other countries such as the Republica del Salvador, China y otros, however they are of very good quality.”

“Their array and pricing has something for all. I always have to stop to look at the books outside and I love that inside people sit on the floor and look through books. The only thing missing is a cat that will sit in the sun and sometimes choose you to be the one to lay with as you browse.”

“We love this store and the staff! It’s a must stop when we travel to Salem! This year I had lost an important bracelet, I went to this store 30 mins later and found it sitting in my pocket! I truly believe this store is good luck and so peaceful! Highly recommend!”
“Fabulous women-owned bookstore in Jamaica Plain, selling, as far as I could tell, only new books. Leave plenty of time to browse - the selection of books is wide ranging, and, for a relatively small space, very large and comprehensive. The exterior signage alone is remarkable! Definitely among my favorite bookstores world-wide. I came away with their The Papercuts Anthology: What Happened Here, a collection of poems, essays, and fiction by authors they hosted during their first year (2014) in business. What a nice souvenir, co-edited by the store's owner, Kate Layte.”

“I love this little bookshop and visit it often! Great selection of all kinds of books with fair prices, and you can sell used books here too. They have a great inventory of gifts and puzzles as well. The owners are really nice and knowledgeable, and they have a good rewards program. This has become my go-to shop for buying books!”
“I loved the range and selection of books, both fiction and non-fiction. I would have gladly spent hours there but it was very crowded (went on a holiday weekend) and each of the top floors were crowded and tight.”

“Wonderful wonderful. Rema is a gift herself as is the rest of the employees. They need to be commended for their outstanding and above and beyond enthusiasm and performances.”
“Wow what a special treat it was to stumble upon this book store! I’ve been to the OG Porter square and this was top notch to find in seaport. Such a lovely display, atmosphere, and overall vibes. I love the concept of this collab with Grub Street and the coffee shop! Definitely check it out and support a local book store thrive in Boston!”
“Beacon Hill Cafe is a charming little cafe underneath a charming little book store. The menu had a nice selection of brunch items. I had the mushroom soup and my friend had the squash salad with buratta. I splurged and got a popover with my soup. The popover was disappointing.. crusty and hard instead of light and buttery. The soup was tasty although very different from any other mushroom soup I've ever had. My friend reported that the squash (the centerpiece of her salad) was not good although the rest of it was. I guess there's no way to know if a particular squash is tasty or not from the kitchen. Our server was adorable and very attentive. I'm glad we were able to get a reservation and I might return but my overall feeling is that we paid a lot of money for atmosphere and not really noteworthy food.”
“I consider it one of the best bookstores in the region. It's worth visiting and before going down, stop at the cafe on the ground floor for a nice cappuccino.”
“The staff inside was very nice. There isnt a lot of room to back into the docks but it isnt too bad. I sat for a few hours to get loaded but overall its alright.”
“Almost every year (sometimes twice a year), I take a trip to Boston, to spend a truly lovely day on Northeastern’s beautiful campus. A big part of this experience is going to the Northeastern University Bookstore!! I LOVE the Northeastern Bookstore!! It has a fantastic selection of apparel, stationery and, of course, many books. Lastly, Tim, the bookstore’s manager is without question, the finest scholar and gentleman. Customer service must be Tim’s first priority because every time I work with him, I have an Awesome experience!!”
“Came in today 09/23/2025, The employee Jessica was such a great help! She was very knowledgeable in the genre I was looking for. I can’t wait to return to this location. I hope more locations hire staff like her.”
“It's a very beautiful and calming place , I remember going in there with my friend and getting to meet the cat and owner I was also very Honnored to get the opertunity to play the piano ❤️”
