“From the moment we walked in we knew this was going to be a perfect stay. We were greeted by Michel, the guest manager, everything Detroit aficionado, raconteur and all around cool guy. Conversation always followed, like he was our longtime friend. Made time there fun, indeed. We stayed downstairs in the Holly room which was perfect for us. Clean, quiet, friendly staff and continental breakfast to start the day, all at a good price. We stayed for five nights. Location is excellent for walking and close to lots of activity. We know where we will be staying next time in town.”

“Our group hosts a conference for 75 people in different cities each year. In 2025 we had a fantastic time at the Cambria Hotel Detroit Downtown! Communication leading up to the conference was attentive and professional, food was creative and plentiful, rooms were clean and well-tended. The level of service, from sales to front office to food and beverage, was IMPECCABLE. Each department head greeted us and checked in throughout the week; the staff recognized us and treated everyone as friends. We were so pleased and can't recommend the Cambria enough.”

“Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of revitalized downtown Detroit. Bespoke decor and design, friendly and attentive staff, great restaurant and attached shop with refined but not too pretentious watches, bags, etc. Area is highly walkable but we also found quite reasonable overnight parking. “I feel compelled to write a five star review because the kindness and flexibility of the staff here completely made my stay. I arrived three hours before check in and was able to do early check in. I forgot my toothbrush and toothpaste and they provided it for me. After my stay I checked out I wanted to go to the Detroit Institute of Arts and go to Dally in the Alley- didn’t wanna take my bags. So they kept them. These seem like simple asks, but it was how the staff communicated and made me feel was a stand out.
I loved hanging out by the Siren Cafe/lobby, loved the cafe drinks. I didn’t even get to go to the bar because I was so busy! This hotel is worth coming back to because of location and service.
I wrote four stars for the room because they are chic and comfortable but definitely restored from being an older building. Small things like a new paint job and some better art curation in rooms could really make this place standout aesthetically like their lobby floor does. Hotel is near shopping and restaurants and many things to do. I never had a problem getting a ride share either. At night traffic around can get busy.
This hotel is exceptional for a solo stay, girls trip, romantic getaway. I probably wouldn’t take my under ten year old with me, it’s not adults only, but the spaces reflect adult space. Thank you Siren Hotel for making my stay so lovely.”

“Lovely, but old hotel, with a very grand old-fashioned design. Service was great, we came in to drop our bags off nice we arrived in Detroit early, but they were to get us a room right away. We had a nice view of downtown from our window. Location is fantastic; lots of great restaurants in Greektown. We were in town to watch the Tigers play, and it was a short <10 min walk to Comerica.

Definitely could use some upgrading in the rooms. The large bathtub was a little challenging to get in & out of for showering, and at least the room we were in was not remotely accessible (not that we needed it, but an observation), given that there were stairs in the middle of the room.

Also they do not have an area for short-term parking for check-in/unloading luggage, as the whole front entry is dedicated to the valet.”

“So, where do I start? I’m a Detroit native, born and raised, though I moved away about 15 years ago. When I come home, I usually stay in Southfield avoiding the downtown hustle. But this time, since Marriott partnered with MGM, I gave MGM Grand Detroit a shot. In all my time, I’d never stayed there before.

I booked as a Platinum Marriott member, and I always expect stellar service Marriott never lets me down. Yet, I was still wowed. From the valet getting my car in an instant to the warm greeting at check-in. Mierra and her Manager Miesha at the front desk was an absolute gem. The room I was provided was above and beyond my expectations.The room was so gorgeous I wanted to extend my stay or at least ensure a smooth transition into another room after my planned early morning departure.

Here’s where we pivot 100 stars for the front desk team they set a bar on how to make someone feel valued. I left thinking I’d stay at more MGM hotels based on that experience. But when I went to the casino side (following a small misunderstanding on extending my stay), I encountered the opposite with Cijay. It became a masterclass in how not to treat a customer, repeatedly stressing I didn’t belong in certain spaces. Despite my Marriott Platinum status, I was made to feel like an intruder because on that side I wasn't considered VIP which was factual and actually ok but it was the way she took my license as if she was about to have me displaced because she didn't want me in that room. I even kept telling her it wasn't an issue I could just go back down to the hotel desk I may have misunderstood my instruction to talk to them. But her mission in that moment was to make sure I knew while welcome by Marriott I held zero value in her eyes. Even down to her I can't see you were platinum status. ( even if you couldn't treating someone kind shouldn't require status)That could have ruined the trip if not for the excellence of that front desk crew. Can I reiterate they alone are the reason I would book again and again. I was ok moving to another room I just wanted to be able to do it before leaving for a funeral which is why i came to town. She didn't care about that she made me feel as if I was trying to get over.

In the end, I’m writing this review because the Marriott side reminded me what true service looks like. Cijay, frankly, needs a course in how to value all guests. I will give it another try that is for sure.”

“The room is spacious and clean. We are supposed to get daily housekeeping, but they only came on three of the ten days we were here. The daily breakfast was the normal make your own waffle, sausage
and eggs kind of thing. The light dinner offered on Monday, Tuesy, and Wednesday was disappointing.”

“On Tuesdays the breakfast doesn't start till 6:05-6:10. Which is a problem when you have to be leaving at 6:15. Wednesday & Thursday wasn't a problem. This is two weeks in a row of staying here. Rooms clean and of comfortable.”

“I am a Bonvoy member and stay at Marriott often. This was my 1st visit to Detroit. I had some mishaps during check in and subsequent interactions with the front desk. The assistant manager figured everything out and came through. My frustration level was mounting at one point and I had to explain the situation to several teammates

3. Excellent housekeepers on 19th floor, i didn't get her name but she was very helpful
4. Location was secured at night

I don't expect perfection from people, so I showed some grace. Next time I'm in Detroit, I will love to be a guest again.”

“Well, first of all motor city casino is owned an operated by not just companies within Michigan, but companies within the city of Detroit. Beyond that their comps and rewards are great, the security there is great. I’ve never once had a problem there. Everything is smooth. I love this place.”

“My stay was 9/3 a 9/4 - this is the second time I’ve stayed here because of a power outage, I will start by saying the staff here is amazing, Darnell at the front desk is above and beyond fantastic, we had to stay here because of a power outage and we had asked for 4 extra sheets (we laid them on the ground so our 10 month old was not crawling on the carpet) and they had them delivered to my room immediately, the rooms are what they are they’re not fancy but they’re CLEAN from the bedding to the shower and the air conditioning is on point, there was anther lady who worked at the front desk ( I did not get her name but she was fantastic as well ) they have breakfast here and it’s actually good and fresh so hats off to the staff making sure we’re fed before work (pancakes , cheese omelets , bacon , yogurt, fresh cinnamon rolls, apple and orange juice ) all fresh and great, overall my experience here both times was 10/10 and I would recommend this place to anyone - thanks again Darnell”

“My stay here was really good although I don't live in Michigan anymore I always try to stay in the Warren area when I come home to visit this was my first time staying here and I must say it was a good experience from check in to check out also I have to definitely give a shout out to the young lady who was on the morning shift Sunday 5/31/26 or maybe even the afternoon shift probably around 11:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m. I had a billing issue with my card and she situated everything in literally like 5 minutes and got everything the way It was supposed to be I was told her name could possibly be Heather but she was very great very attentive and assured me that everything will be taken care of overall this was a great experience”

“We arrived for check in at 4, and the line to the counter was about 45 minutes to check in. This is the worst way to welcome your guests at a hotel. The furniture in the lobby is quite nice and the vibe took the edge off of having to wait, and there was a very nice staff member offering to check bags in if any guests wanted to drop their belongings off and come back when the check in desk was less busy. The corner room we got was clean and updated and honestly better than I anticipated. The location is great if you're looking to be out and about but please don't reserve this on a weekend thinking you're going to get R&R. There's a constant engine revving on the streets below from guys who think they're auditioning for the next fast and furious movie. It went until at least midnight.”

“Very clean, simple, modern amenities. Price was good. We stayed overnight while in town for an amphitheater concert. We found it from a blind kayak.com search. We reserved our room online, 10 minutes before arriving. Check in was easy. Room had everything we needed, up to and including Dove soap products and a hairdryer. Bed was very comfy, but pillows WAY too soft 👎. Bring your own sound machine, as the AC/heater doesn’t have a continuous fan…it will cycle on and off throughout the night. If you like a complete dark out experience you might find the illuminated headboard and armoire distracting. It bothered my husband, not me. Housekeeping staff went out of their way to wish us a good day in the hallway. Fitness center had the essentials for a post-travel workout: treadmill, row machine, ellipticals, treadmills, incline bench and flat bench + dumbbells up to 100lb. The continental breakfast was great: hot food + cold cereals, juice and on-demand ground coffee machine. Kitchen staff stood in the dining area to make sure food was replenished. All in all, great stay!”

“We stayed at the Viking Motel while in Detroit for a show at the Majestic Theatre and honestly… 10/10 for exactly what we needed 😂

The room was CLEAN, check-in was easy, parking was simple, and it was close enough to the Majestic that after tacos and margaritas at Candado, we could enjoy a lovely little walk to the show while pretending the margaritas had absolutely nothing to do with how scenic Detroit suddenly looked.

Was it the Ritz? No. Did we need the Ritz? Also no. 😂 We needed a clean, comfortable place to sleep in a convenient location without selling a kidney for one night in Detroit, and the Viking Motel understood the assignment.. . Close enough for an easy stumble back after a few more good drinks and not have to worry about catching a DUI

“A wonderful experience in a gorgeous mansion that gives you an elegant yet homey vibe. My wife and I are here for the jazz festival and our stay here has been lovely. The rooms are beautiful and the staff has been great too. The coffee and the breakfast topped it off. We will be back!”

“Nice and quiet place, this is my second time staying and it was nice just like the first time.
The room has a stove, a microwave and a fridge, but no other appliances like pans or utensils, but that's why the dollar store exists, so I have no issue with it. The water pressure in the bathroom is quite low, but it's manageable. There were some stains on the carpet, not sure what they are but they aren't sticky and they don't smell, so that's good enough for me. Since this is an extended stay hotel, there are people with kids there and they can be a little loud especially if you're on the second or first floor.
That being said, the staff are amazing, it's convenient to have a laundry room in the hotel itself even if it costs 8 dollars to wash and dry your clothes (so, 4 dollars each), the bed is comfortable, you can make solid meals if you get appliances, there's two places to eat right outside and the supermarket is about a 15 minute's walk away. This is my go-to place to stay in when I visit this area of Michigan.”

“I’ve stayed at Avid many times in different cities and have always had a good experience. It’s an easy, convenient, clean, and simple hotel option. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always on task. I also like that the breakfast is grab and go, which makes mornings quick and easy. Glad to see they’re expanding to more locations”

“Our room was spacious, and we had our own parking spot right in front of it. The inn's location is great; easy walking distance to downtown. Founders Brewing is close by. We felt safe. The owner, Mona, really aimed to please. Her breakfasts were delicious. Lots to do in Detroit; we're looking forward to returning. When we do, we'll stay at this wonderful inn.”

“Starting with the good: the facility is beautiful, clean, and unique. My room was well-appointed with all the features you'd expect from a good hotel. Hamilton's restaurant is great, and the lobby is very comfortable.
However, the issues were mostly due to staff inconsistency. Some interactions were great, with warm and attentive service, but other staff seemed like they simply couldn't be bothered to help customers. I understand that curating a great staff is difficult, but this experience pales in comparison to my other Detroit hotel stays like at The Henry.”
