Today I bought tortillas that expired in may and eggs that did yesterday. When I mentioned it the cashier was rude and told me to go get another one. There were no other eggs in that price range that weren’t “out of date” and I did not have time to go back and look through all the tortillas in the hopes of finding a pack not expired. When I got home I made my microwave “TV dinner” that smells rancid. It had expired in 2024! The last time I shopped here I bought a can of hot dog chili that expired in 2023. The butchers meat there is the best in town though and most of the people who work there are kind and very helpful. Editing to add: The past several shopping trips here were perfect. “OMG ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!! The food, the employees, and the laid back atmosphere. My sister, her boyfriend and I came here one day and had an almost perfect experience. The store was somewhat organized, and not busy luckily. We walked around to check everything out and we went to the lovely cashier (who was SUPER sweet and I LOVED HER) and asked about where to order the chicken at. She told us the process and when we got to the counter across from the cashier checkout, a nice teenager/young adult (tall and looked young) assisted us and answered our questions. She even gave us a menu to take home! We were waiting for the chicken (1 breast and 2 legs), and the other lady working (slightly heavier set as to compared to the one that helped us) walked up to assist another customer, and SNATCHED the menu we were going to take home right from where I had it on the counter (my hands were full). We got drinks and when we went to go sit down to eat, the tables were dirty and the cleanest one we saw was very unstable. Other than that one lady and the unstable table, my experience was good. DEFINATELY will be coming back again soon! Even the man in the meat department near the back of the store was SUPER nice!! (He is the reason why I am giving 4 stars instead of 3 and I am willing to go back.)”

The Cincinnati-based supermarket giant will open about 110 new stores in fast-growing markets by 2029 and introduce three updated store formats, executives told investors Oct. 20 at the company’s Investor Update in New York. Kroger already runs about 2,700 stores in 35 states. The formats come in three sizes, a bit like small, medium and large, matched to each market. Mary Ellen Adcock, Kroger’s executive vice president and chief merchant and marketing officer, walked through the lineup.
Walmart shoppers want a head start on the holidays, and money explains a lot of it. Some 44% of respondents call affording the holidays their top stressor, and 61% say holiday costs shape their shopping mood. Asked what would make the season easier, 70% picked lower prices and 57% picked more deals and promotions. Convenience ranks lower: 30% want one-stop shopping across categories, and 20% want faster delivery.
Walmart wants your groceries at the door before the ice cream softens. On May 29, the retailer said its 30-minute-or-less delivery had reached 33 U.S. markets, adding a wave of new cities across the Northeast. Shoppers in those areas can order from more than 100,000 items, everything from fresh produce and baby formula to pet food, electronics, cold medicine, and prescriptions. Behind the scenes, the service leans on Walmart's store network and an algorithm that factors in order size, available drivers, and distance from the store.
Trader Joe's keeps adding stores, and shoppers keep showing up. The California grocer has marked nine more locations as "opening soon," pushing its expansion into new corners of the country. The grocer also took first place in the American Customer Satisfaction Index's 2026 supermarket rankings. It has held a spot near the top of that list for years.
Target is rolling out its most ambitious store overhaul in more than ten years, with plans to remodel over 130 locations and open 30 new stores across the country this year. The retailer is also putting money into supply chain technology upgrades to keep pace with how shoppers buy today.
