2309 44th St SE, Grand RapidsThis spot opened up a little while ago near us, and we just got around to taking our golden retriever, Parker, to try it. It's run by the same folks that run the Candied Yam, and they are super kind and friendly. We got some chicken jerky biscuits and a topper bowl for Parker, and he thought they were delicious! The topper bowls were incredible affordable too, so we'll definitely be coming back with Parker to get him a tasty bite to eat.

What this place deserves 5 stars for is the Pet Wash & Vet/Nail/Leash Training, etc clinics.We have 3 dogs, so the doggy spa bill @ $60+/dog is a little steep. They do 2 for 1 on Weds, get all three washed for 1/10th of the spa cost, and the best part is, NO MESS AT HOME!!We adopted a cat last year and needed her checked by a vet within a certain time frame. Everywhere close was 2+ weeks out for a new pet visit unless we brought her into emergency (more $$$). Called Chow Hound, found out another location had a walk-in clinic that day. We were able to get her a clean bill of health and safely bring her into our home.Support this business!

I did have to do a return and tried to complete that online, but the refund never went thru so I’ll have to drive up to the store to get that figured out (but that’s a corporate issue and not the alpine store itself). I really like the online deals.

When we arrived Charmaine was so quick to answer the door and very friendly, her shop is cute and quiet! Jax felt immediately calm and took a wander around while we chatted for a minute. Charmaine said to leave our number and she would text us when he was ready and it would only take a few hours (wash, cut, nail trim), it maybe took an hour and a half from start to finish! He looks so cute and was so happy when he came home, you’d never know he’ll be 10 years old next year! We will definitely be bringing our sweet boy back for more groomings!

Family Friends Veterinary Hospital
6555 28th St SE, Grand RapidsOver a holiday weekend my cat became incredibly sick and in visible pain. I took her to an Emergency Pet Hospital instead of Family Friends urgent care, I wish I had taken her to Family Friends in the first place!! The hospital misdiagnosed her with pancreatitis and sent me home with a large bill and a dying cat.
As she was obviously still in pain and vomiting the next night I began searching for another vet who could see her as soon as possible. At 3am I was able to use Family Friends online booking service to get her an appointment for 8am. They were incredibly kind and understanding and were able to quickly find out that it was an item in her intestine and not pancreatitis. They performed surgery the same day and I was even able to bring her home that night!
I am forever grateful to them for their transparency, empathy, and efficiency. Everyone that I interreacted with was great, their pricing was reasonable. 20/10 stars.

I have a 4 year old frenchie with skin allergies and he has had some issues with pulling a muscle in his neck. Always terrified it could be IVDD , vets were thorough in their exam and confirmed it was just a pulled muscle to which they quickly addressed and my guy was back to his spunky fun self within less than 24 hours! They are very friendly, they do not over analyze and try to persuade you to spend unnecessary monies, their office is immaculately clean and inviting. I’m so happy to have found them!!!

When we learned that our giant breed Great Dane, English Mastiff was reactive, I was devastated and lost. My vet referred us to APD. We were met with sincere kindness, compassion, and an abundance of knowledge and expertise! We immediately started a plan for success and have learned how to help our literal giant baby live her happiest, healthiest and safest life! Jenn and her team have excellent specialty relationships with other care providers and we were also able to identify pain and anxiety in our boxer pitty babe - leading to a sustainable and long term care plan. I only wish that I had met the APD Team sooner, and had started with them when my girls were puppies. If you are reading this looking for confirmation that A Pleasant Dog is the right choice for your family, I promise you it is. Make the call. ❤️

The volunteers instantly felt like my family in their love for cats, and I ended up adopting a wonderful adult, female kitty from them. She's a beloved addition to the family. I understand they want to make sure it's a good placement and that I fully understand what I'm getting myself into, but when I said I would take him, the counselor kind of threw up her hands and said "ok! But it's going to be months before you can pet him or do anything with him!" I adopted him anyway and 2 weeks later, he is adjusting nicely...goes for walks, is home trained, sleeps in his kennel...and let's me pet him and give him kisses.
