“My mom and I stayed here for an extended weekend getaway, and it was absolutely perfect! The resort was incredibly clean, and you can tell a lot of care goes into maintaining the property. We especially enjoyed spending time by the pool and loved the peace and quiet throughout our stay.

One of our favorite things was the adults-only atmosphere...no kids around, just a relaxing and tranquil environment to unwind and enjoy quality time together. Rob does an amazing job taking immaculate care of the resort, and his attention to detail really shows.

If you're looking for a clean, relaxing, and peaceful place to stay near Saugatuck, I highly recommend the Saugatuck Retro Resort. We can't wait to come back!”

“Had never stayed in a motel before. Overall, was a great experience. It appears to me the owners have been doing all they can to keep the place updated. Your in a motel so you have to accept there are limits to your expectations. We were very pleased. The owners were very nice people. It felt good knowing we were supporting an independent business. They have updated USB ports on the lights and on the night stand. The TV service was the best I've ever had in a hotel. You could rewind the shows in time. I have this at home but have never seen it in a hotel. Again, we really liked the place. Oh yeah, nice having the car right outside your door.”

“Beautiful, well appointed rooms and cottages perfect for a romantic getaway. We stayed in the San Juan suite on our first visit and just visited again and stayed in the Tuscany Cottage. Both featured many thoughtful touches which helped us to feel we were visiting Puerto Rico or Italy. Homemade treats each afternoon and literally the best fresh muffins and fruit each morning. Every detail has been thought of. Can’t wait to visit again in the quiet season.”

“Wonderful place. Great staff. Owner very pleasant and outgoing. Will stay again at some point. Wish they had a special for a one night stay, not just for 2 night stays. A package that included a wonderful dinner that night and breakfast the next day. That would bring even more people in and greater repeats.”

“We stayed here this last weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Scott was a wonderful host who is more than happy to offer recommendations for eateries and activities. Our room was cozy and the bed was so comfortable! The standout, however, was the delicious homemade breakfast we were served each morning. We have been staying at b&bs for our anniversary for the last 13 years, and Beechwood had the best breakfast by far.

Thank you, Scott for a wonderful time!”

“Even though the starlight motel is older it is really very very clean. Our room had new carpeting and the whole room was clean and the bathroom was lovely. It was a very nice place for quiet getaway in the winter.”

“Bella Vita Aveda Spa is located in downtown Saugatuck, about 10 minutes from our Airbnb, and very easy to find. There’s plenty of parking right in front, which made things convenient. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in.
I booked a 50-minute massage for $95, and my therapist, Jackie, was excellent. She asked thoughtful questions to tailor the session and paid close attention to my body language, adjusting her technique as needed. She checked in periodically to make sure everything felt right and created a relaxing, comfortable experience throughout.”

“I stayed at the BeachWay for a couple nights last weekend on a girls' trip with my mom. We had a great time!

The room was clean and the decorations were cute and beachy. I liked the many outdoor areas with little tables and chairs for guests to sit and enjoy the outdoor spaces when their rooms might not have a balcony area. The pool and patio area was beautiful, and the fun shark mosaic a the bottom of the pool was a nice touch. My favorite little detail was the ducks in in the planters around the property. We also loved being able to walk to the chain ferry for a quick trip across the river to downtown Saugatuck.

Parking was a little hectic; the lot is smaller than it should be for the amount of rooms, but the overflow areas are not far, so we were able to make do.

The hotel offers small snacky items for breakfast as well as coffee and tea. I felt like for the price of the stay, the breakfast options could have been a little better, for example instead of premade mini donuts, it would be really cool to team up with a local bakery for something fresh. Also, it would be sooo much better to offer liquid creamer instead of powder.

Overall though, we really enjoyed our stay, and I would definitely stay again as well as recommend this hotel to friends.”

“nice area, close to downtown saugatuck. our sheets were inside out so it lead us to think that they were not changed. at one point i asked the front desk for plasticware and he sent me into the dark, closed breakfast room to fumble around with my flashlight. was just a bit weird to me.
pool was small but decent, only up to 4ft (my family is quite tall so it was awkward lol.) really enjoyed the hot tub!”
