“UPDATE- REI Did resolve the issue below and exceeded my expectations so I do sincerely appreciate it. I am still going to leave this information public because people need to know the fine print before making a purchase. —-

I was told the bike was eligible to trade in. Went to trade it in today and was told they will not take it without training wheels. It was a used bike so didn’t come with training wheels they finally admitted, then told me that it’s not eligible for trade in because it was used. I had no idea it was used it looked brand new. It was discounted, and the salesmen told me it might be a return. They also told me the bike was definitely eligible for the trade in policy at REI. I believed him and didn’t question it because even with discount the bike cost over $200. $200 and this was the second bike we bought so of course I thought everything would go smoothly again. Over $300 I spent on bikes there and they won’t honor the trade in. Even if it had been new, they wont take it without the training wheels. Who keeps training wheels for a year? Of course thats in the fine print. That is how they get you.”
