Firehouse Creamery
145 C St, Virginia CityI've visited countless ice cream shops, but this place offers the largest portions I've ever seen. Just take a look at the picture! I tried the blueberry, butter pecan, and espresso, and they were spectacular. I shared them with my friends, and they loved them too. Don't be shy--try a sample. The staff is super friendly, and if I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely come back.

Virginia City Jerky Co
204 S C St, Virginia CityCame here for a quick lunch after the train ride and we liked it! I learned everything is made in house except the bagged chips so that was cool. We love supporting local businesses especially when they are responsible for the menu! My husband and I both ordered the pulled pork sandwiches, I got regular and he got the spicy one. They were pretty good. There was extra sauce on the tables which we did use. We got coleslaw on the sandwiches, but there wasn't very much. I would definitely ask for extra. I got mine with mac and cheese and he got his with corn bread. We liked both sides. My toddler especially liked the mac and cheese. Good beer selection as well. Pretty small inside so we sat outside. We were with another family and unfortunately they have signs to not move any chairs and tables, so we were not able to sit together as all the tables on the patio were set for two.

Gold Hill Hotel and Crown Point Restaurant
1540 S Main St, Virginia CityThe Gold Hill Hotel was the perfect classy wedding venue. Along with stunning views of the Yellow Jacket Mine and surrounding mountains, the hotel’s historic 1800s charm and the equally beautiful bar and restaurant, complete with a wood-burning stove, offered a unique experience unlike anywhere else. We could host both the ceremony and reception at the same location, and our guests all stayed in Gold Hill Hotel rooms to avoid having to drive anywhere. They also had golf-cart and shuttle recommendations to transport us to and from downtown Virginia City (about a mile away). Jett, the event manager, was very helpful, drawing on her years of experience, and gave wonderful recommendations. The friendly servers and bartenders took excellent care of our wedding party with Virginia City hospitality. Even the sweet owner came over to wish my husband and me well. The rooms, each one furnished with different antique furniture, ensured a one-of-a-kind stay. Everyone enjoyed chatting on the balconies while soaking in the breathtaking views. I highly recommend grabbing a coffee or drink from their restaurant and enjoying it on their wrap-around porch, complete with barrel tables. I love that it is far enough from downtown Virginia City to see the stars and enjoy Nevada’s quiet beauty, yet only about a mile by car to the boardwalk and festivities. If given the chance, I would choose the Gold Hill Hotel for my wedding day all over again. My friends and family talked about the experience for months after.
