Pet Club Astoria
30-28 Steinway St, AstoriaWe love Pet Club! It's conveniently located on Steinway within walking distance from our apartment, and they have everything we need for our new puppy. I appreciate all the high-quality and healthy items they keep in stock here. We haven't had a dog in years, and I had all the questions... I've been in the store multiple times over the last 1.5 weeks. The staff members here are always super helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Today, they helped me find these no-rawhide chews for our pup. He absolutely loves them, and it's saving our toes, pant legs, shoes... Also a plus, they have a point system with Square so you can earn rewards over time ^_^

Queens Low Cost Veterinary Center
28-27 Steinway St, AstoriaEverything about this place is so wonderful, and we had the best experience here for our Corgi and Kitty! You can tell that the veterinarian genuinely cares about the animals, as well as the community. The prices are very cheap-- is done in order to help as many as possible, and is truly coming from the heart and the best-intentioned place. Truly a gem for this community. Thank you for what you do and know we appreciate you!! ? ??

Bark&Bone
30-65 33rd St, AstoriaWe can’t say enough good things about this dog walking service, specifically Caleb! We have a Bernedoodle that is a gentle giant, but also a little anxiety ridden and a scaredy cat. Caleb has been so patient with him and allowed him to explore at his own pace. He also knew just the right pups that would get along with ours to do social walks. We appreciate the love and attention our guy got, and also the consistency Bark N Bone provided to have the same dog walker for each time we were on the schedule. Thank you!

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

BALANCERO
3095 37th St, AstoriaIt’s a little spot and has a bit of a charm with it. Stopped by here cause I’ve heard of it over the years and was right next door to where I was. Their coffee was great and they even gave a free mini donut (vanilla filled and was really good!).
They take card and tap, and they do have a bunch of dessert options.
They are pretty much open on all days and the barista is a sweet lady and helpful. Meter parking is available around the block and in front of the cafe.
Definitely worth the reviews and I do plan to stop by here next time I’m around for another cup.

Le Petit Pêcheur

Cookie Crumz
29-18 Ditmars Blvd, AstoriaI don’t have anything but great things say about this spot! Arri, the owner, is always a pleasure to speak with and very accommodating. The cookies are always fresh, gooey, and warm. Even when he’s changed or tried a new baking method, he was transparent and even gave me the option to try the new batch which resulted in a crunchier bite, or the softer batch. In my eyes, they’ve beaten Crumbl and knocked it out of the park. Their weekly specials make that much more worth it. I will be back and make sure you all support this local Astoria business!

Jhoanes Bakery & Coffee
33-04 Broadway, AstoriaThe place is small but so cute. The pastries were the stars of the show! Pick any croissant and you'll likely be pleased. I recommend the lemon or chocolate. The blueberry hibiscus iced tea was fine for me but hibiscus is bitter and blueberry isn't a sweet fruit! If you like sweet drinks go for something else. The iced mocha was okay and the pancakes were average. There's tables for parties of 4 in the back. There was a 40 min wait time (Sunday afternoon), so we waited for the call saying our table was ready.

Coffee Cloud
21-34 Broadway, AstoriaThe coffee is amazing and the seasonal decorations are always so fun to see! It's definitely the prettiest cafe in the neighborhood. The staff are so kind, and they even have treats for dogs! Podo thinks this is our only destination every time we go for a walk.

First Cup Cafe
29-01 36th Ave, AstoriaI come here very regularly to personally study and work. Very quiet, friendly staff, and unique flavored drinks and bites. I typically order their Biscoff latte (ask for a little less sweet) and ube latte. I also enjoy the chais and banana puddings! It’s a family run shop excellent for catching up with friends, a quick drink to go, or quiet space to work/study/read.

Anassa Taverna Astoria
28-10 Astoria Blvd, AstoriaFive of us had a party on Saturday evening. The tavern was quite busy which reflected on service (our waiter wasn't present all the time). But I can understand that.
The space itself doesn't look like a typical Greek tavern, but high ceiling, good furniture and an appropriate lighting are definitely worth mentioning.
The food is good, but some portions are too small. For example, Greek salad is very tasty, but the portion is way too small. The same goes for grilled saganaki. In addition, our lamb chops were served well-done, although we asked for medium. On the other hand, our red snapper was great.
Restrooms are too small for a restaurant with this capacity.
The wine list should be MUCH better.
Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. And the prices are very reasonable to be honest.
However, if I compare the food and portions with some other Greek taverns in Astoria I have to admit there are better options.
