Pet Club Astoria
30-28 Steinway St, AstoriaWe love Pet Club! It's conveniently located on Steinway within walking distance from our apartment, and they have everything we need for our new puppy. I appreciate all the high-quality and healthy items they keep in stock here. We haven't had a dog in years, and I had all the questions... I've been in the store multiple times over the last 1.5 weeks. The staff members here are always super helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Today, they helped me find these no-rawhide chews for our pup. He absolutely loves them, and it's saving our toes, pant legs, shoes... Also a plus, they have a point system with Square so you can earn rewards over time ^_^

Vivi Pet Care
11-36 31st Ave, AstoriaI recently used Vivi’s Pet Care for cat grooming, and I highly recommend them. From the start, booking was incredibly smooth, and they were always very responsive over email. On the day of the appointment, both the receptionist and Vivi herself were friendly and professional. Before starting the service, Vivi took the time to set clear expectations, and I really appreciated her candidness. It was a great service all around!

The Loving Tails Spa
42-10 34th Ave, AstoriaRenata!! I wasn't sure how Mr. Goodboy would take to a haircut and he is foot sensitive. He saw Boss, the white Persian cat, and when Renata held him, speaking calmly he was hers! She gave him the exact cut we requested, did his nails, the works! He is so proud of how he looks and we feel we have a new friend. She deserves a galaxy of stars! He can't wait to go back!

Dozo Dog
25-52 31st St, AstoriaI would highly suggest Dozo to anyone for day care or boarding! We love Dozo so much and so does our sweet pup, Matilda.
Not only does everyone there know Matilda by name, they know her personality, and which dogs are her friends. We get photos every time she’s there, and every single time it looks like she’s having the time of her life. She’s posing in May of these pictures with her bestie, Bagel.
She lights up when she realizes we’re heading to Dozo and she’s sad to leave.
When we go on trips and board her at Dozo we get nightly photos of her in her bed with her toy. We know she’s in great hands. It makes travel that much easier knowing she’s well taken care of.
The people who work there are so kind and generous and genuine. I’m so grateful for them and for the love they show Matilda! Each one of them is incredibly cheerful and easy to talk to.
They’ve recently undergone a renovation and worked tirelessly to make sure that no dog was left behind while they made updates to this location.
Thank you Dozo!!

All Dogs In The City
18-73 42nd St, AstoriaAll Dogs in the City gave us a memory with our sweet Bodhi that we will cherish forever. This has been very hard for me to write, and that is why it has taken me so long.
We brought our 3-year-old Golden Retriever, who was battling lymphoma, there for his very last swim back in February. Just a few days later, we had to say goodbye to him that following Tuesday.
From the moment we arrived, the staff was beyond compassionate, gentle, and accommodating. They treated Bodhi with so much love and kindness, and they treated us with such understanding during one of the hardest times of our lives. They gave him the chance to do something he truly loved one last time—to swim, play, and just be happy.
Seeing the joy on his face that day is something I will never forget. In the middle of heartbreak, All Dogs in the City gave us one of the most beautiful final memories we could have ever asked for with our boy.
Thank you for creating such a special place and for giving families moments that mean more than words can express. Bodhi had an amazing time, and that day will stay in our hearts forever.

Buster and Whiskers - Dog Walker Astoria
30-44 34th St, AstoriaI cannot recommend Buster & Whiskers enough! As an owner of a people reactive dog, I was so stressed to find a dog walker that could handle and is willing to work with my dog’s quirks. Igor immediately put my nerves at ease with his deep knowledge of dog behavior and experience with a wide variety of dogs.
He trains all of his dog walkers to handle each dog and provides an individualized approach. Though they cannot guarantee the same walker everyday, they are all trained on the same walking approach.
Also, they are extremely organized and use an app for scheduling and communication with the walkers.
I am so grateful to have found Busters & Whiskers!!

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

Balancero
30-95 37th St, AstoriaI used to live a block from here on 30th Ave and would never go in. It would be super packed with people often hanging outside in very uncomfortable ways (e.g. five people huddled together around one table with no chairs) so I it was one of these Instagram/Tik Tok famous places that were all about social media. I finally went here a few weeks ago and it was awesome. The Macchiato was excellent and the barista gave us free homemade chocolate donut holes. I will definitely make a point of coming back.

Lily's
30-95 33rd St, AstoriaHad an amazing time at this bar tonight! The atmosphere, drinks, and service were all top tier, but the highlight was definitely our server Christian. He was super friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed the whole night. You can tell he genuinely cares about giving customers a great experience. Honestly one of the best services I’ve had in a long time. Definitely coming back again!

Cookie Crumz
29-18 Ditmars Blvd, AstoriaSolid first experience after visiting this location yesterday and indulging in three of their custom / gourmet cookies. One of which was on the house because it was my first time there and all three were absolute delicious! The “Volcanic Vanilla Ice Cream” was the perfect pairing for the two cookies I ordered to eat with the ice cream. The on the house cookie was a sweet touch for my drive. The bake shop, etc. is aesthetically appealing as well. Welcoming, friendly, and professional, but fun at the same time. Love the fact that they’re LGBTQIA+ welcoming, friendly with, etc. I’ll definitely be back for their rotating menu. A definite must visit and try in Astoria/Queens area.
Thanks again, for taking care of me and the on the house cookie ?

Coffee Cloud
21-34 Broadway, AstoriaThe coffee is amazing and the seasonal decorations are always so fun to see! It's definitely the prettiest cafe in the neighborhood. The staff are so kind, and they even have treats for dogs! Podo thinks this is our only destination every time we go for a walk.

First Cup Cafe
29-01 36th Ave, AstoriaI come here very regularly to personally study and work. Very quiet, friendly staff, and unique flavored drinks and bites. I typically order their Biscoff latte (ask for a little less sweet) and ube latte. I also enjoy the chais and banana puddings! It’s a family run shop excellent for catching up with friends, a quick drink to go, or quiet space to work/study/read.

Anassa Taverna Astoria
28-10 Astoria Blvd, AstoriaAfter visiting Estiatorio Milos at Hudson Yards last week, the comparison made me realize that I’m actually far more drawn to the dining style of Anassa Taverna. There’s something about its atmosphere and approach to food that feels warmer, more effortless, and genuinely enjoyable rather than overly polished. The lobster pasta was outstanding — rich, flavorful, and beautifully balanced — while the fried calamari was unexpectedly impressive, perfectly light and crisp without feeling heavy. It’s the kind of meal that stays in your memory not because it tries too hard, but because every detail feels naturally well done.

Bench Flour Bakers
43-18 25th Ave, AstoriaThis is our favorite pastry/breakfast spot in Astoria. The pastries are always made very well, and I appreciate that the ones we’ve tried have not been tooth-achingly sweet. The breakfast sandwiches are great (and huge), but they also change their specials a lot so we generally get those. Everything we’ve had has been delicious and interesting. The cherry on top: they have good coffee. The only thing is that they get busy, and they only have enough space for a few tables, so we try to go as early as we can.

Korean K9 Rescue
24-07 31st St, AstoriaOne of our major life goals was to adopt a dog. After researching several reputable rescues around NYC, we decided on Korean K9 Rescue because of their notable commitment to giving each foster pup in their care the best possible resources, and their stellar reputation. We can’t say enough good things about this organization and how much our lives have changed through adopting our dog.
We initially attended one of KK9R’s adoption events without being pre-approved. We knew going in that this meant it would be unlikely we could adopt during that event. However, we went anyway to meet some of the dogs and the team. While at the event, there was a dog that caught our interest. We immediately filled out an application upon returning home and were fortunate enough to be informed the next day that we were approved for adoption for our new family member, Jjong!
We find Korean K9 Rescue to be a valuable rescue organization as well as one that provides new dog parents with integral resources to help them succeed. For example, Vicky, KK9R’s amazing rescue manager, went above and beyond providing supplies and materials during our initial transition period with Jjong. The jindo journey training stipend allowed us to work with a trainer who has worked with many other KK9R alumni, making the whole training process much smoother. We felt set up for the best possible life with our dog, especially in the first 6 months, which are crucial for bonding and trust. Additionally, KK9R’s robust foster-to-adopt program was exactly what we were looking for to ease into the transition of dog parenthood.
KK9R’s adoption process is indeed rigorous. We wouldn’t have had it any other way and this reflects both the organization’s and our values: finding the best possible match between prospective adopters and their dogs, ensuring a 0% rehome rate. We were fully aligned with KK9R throughout the whole process and love participating in alumni events, because we’re now connected to such an amazing like-minded community.
