“The very definition of why we need small shops. Explanations of products and costs, above-and-beyond service, interactions with an actual human being.

I needed a quick replacement for my Mom’s AC. Charlie (co-owner of the store) took the time to walk me through both the models and service including all of the costs. He was able to get someone to install within a few days.

When the serviceman arrived and started the work, he realized that it was more complicated and time-consuming than originally planned. Instead of leaving/charging more/doing just enough, he took the time to do it right including making a couple of runs to a hardware store for extra supplies. Yes, this is how it should be but it seems this level of professionalism is in short supply.

And because of this wonderful experience, the least I can do is to give this gem of a store a 5-star rating - and encourage anyone needing an AC, vacuum, rug-cleaning or any small appliance to make Brooke’s your first and only stop.”

His recommendation to use PODS to transport our belongings from California to Portugalia's warehouse in New Jersey before transferring everything into an overseas shipping container was brilliant. It was an option we never would have discovered on our own.
Even more impressive, Portugalia handled all three of our required Certificados de Bagagem through the Portuguese Consulate in San Francisco quickly, accurately, and without adding stress to an already overwhelming move. Their pricing—from receiving our PODS in New Jersey all the way through customs, shipping, delivery, and unloading at our home in Portugal—was remarkably fair and significantly less expensive than the traditional international moving companies we had contacted.

“I took my Miele vacuum in to be looked at after it was making a loud noise - after it was inspected I got a call that it needed a new motor. It was ready within an hour and a half of taking it in. I was struck by not only the speed of which it was fixed but the care that was taken to explain the problem and how to avoid it happening again. I haven’t encountered this in the 30 years I have lived in NY. I will be a returning customer here for sure.”

“Don't let the size of the store fool you. Hoffy's Electronics may look small from the outside, but the selection, quality, service, and heart behind the business are absolutely huge.

They carry an impressive variety of products, including many hard-to-find and specialty items that other stores simply don't stock. Their pricing is very competitive, and they're always willing to help you find the right product for your needs.

What I appreciate most is their honesty. They'll tell you when an off-brand item is perfectly fine and when it's actually worth spending more for a name brand. That kind of advice is hard to find these days.

I walked into Ferguson’s Midtown showroom and asked to speak with a representative. By some fortunate coincidence, Janam was available. My husband and I were undertaking an extensive renovation of our Manhattan apartment and, without a designer, needed considerable guidance on plumbing fixtures, faucets, vanities, mirrors, and more. Janam was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process; our renovation lasted for over a year.

He is exceptionally bright, efficient, organized, knowledgeable, hardworking, and genuinely pleasant to work with. What makes him particularly stand out is his responsiveness and willingness to help. If something needed to be changed, he handled it promptly and without fuss. Even while on vacation several time zones away, he remained available and attentive to our needs.

Janam is meticulous, flexible, and remarkably adaptable. “Was coming there since the early 90s when it was a mall called Store World. REAL Bushwick/Ridgewood cats will remember that. Used to grab comic books and video games there as a kid. When it became this Liberty Department store, I was junior high/HS age.. I used to used to cop lil trinkets, little gear, little underwear, lil hoodie here and there after school, come here with my ladies and sit in front of the fans and cool off in the summers before continuing on.. or I would pop in to get lil knick nacks and admire the females working here.

Shoutout to the two West Indian dudes that used to take the bags. they had to working there over 15 years EASY, but doesn't seem like either of em are there anymore. Hope they're in good health wherever they are. “We needed to replace a 25 year old built-in Monogram refrigerator. Our salesman, Shaya, was very helpful and responsive in finding us a replacement. Drimmers sent a crew to confirm that the replacement could be brought up to and in our apartment -- which it could not. Shaya then explored other alternatives with us and we ultimately settled on a Sub-Zero with the same footprint but which could be partially disassembled in order to bring it into the apartment. Drimmer arranged all the details and the installation was ultimately a success. And for all of this, the Drimmers all-in price was the best available, with no hidden extras.”
