2 Rocky Hill Rd, New PaltzWe've been day school clients of New Paltz Dog Training for several years. We wanted to safely introduce our exuberant, people-loving pitbull to other dogs. I was hesitant at first — the whole pitbull thing — but Valerie and her crew are amazing. They are experts at dog group dynamics and provide a safe, fun environment for all the dogs. Mojo comes home relaxed and happy but not over tired. Adorable side effect: since going to day school, she has much more active dreams with lots of tail wagging and sleep running. She’s 9 now and shows no signs of slowing down thanks in large part to her twice weekly trips to New Paltz Dog Training and Canine Adventures.

9 N Chestnut St, New PaltzThis place has a great selection of teas. They carry astrology tea and since I am a Gemini I had to try it. Amazing. Fast forward to last week. I was bummed it wasn't in stock. Corrinne thought she had some in her stock and immediately put on her coat ( on a busy Saturday) and went to look. She felt so bad that she didn't find any, but was getting some in that week. She said she would ship it free of charge. But the best part is she had to be in Kingston anyway the next day and delivered it to me. I will be a customer whenever I go to New Paltz.

We live about 100 yards from there but would travel given it is hands down the best cafe around. I can’t say enough about everything there. I also want to give a shout-out for their attention to minimizing plastic use. ????

Twin Star Orchards
155 N Ohioville Rd, New PaltzReserved a few days ahead for a 12:30 PM arrival time on a Saturday in early October. We actually just came for lunch, not to apple pick, so my rating is based on the food. They do sell apples (and much more) in the store. I tried the Margherita pizza, 3 mushroom white, and sausage special (housemade bratwurst). Pizzas were excellent. Brat was tasty but pretty small portion for the price (one link cut in half and some cornbread). Also got some of the cider doughnuts, which were good, but wish they were hot. You can get hot ones a few miles away at Jenkins-Lucien. Fresh cider was amazing!

125 Main St, New PaltzThe best burgers in town! First, their menu is creative. I haven't had a burger here that wasn't excellent. I see there are comments about wait time, but it does say on the menu that times can be longer. I don't think I've ever had an issue whether I've gone alone or with a friend, personally. They have a great beer menu too. Servers are excellent, it's super cozy and clean inside.

We then bought and shared a bottle of wine between three of us and sat on the deck for a while snacking and playing games and enjoying the atmosphere! They were setting up live music (but we left before that started). HIGHLY recommend if you want to try some good wine and good vibes

38 Main St, New PaltzSnug Harbor has that true old-soul pub warmth, but with an eclectic, creative energy woven through the room. It feels lived-in in the best way — like stories, songs, and half-finished ideas are always hanging in the air. The music programming is consistently solid; I’ve caught Ramona Lane there multiple times and it’s always a good time, alongside a bunch of other incredible acts. It’s the kind of place where community, art, and a good night out overlap naturally. A crow would post up here without hesitation — familiar, a little weird, and always worth returning to.
