Pet Sitting & Training

New Paltz Dog Training & Canine Adventures
2 Rocky Hill Rd, New PaltzWe've been day school clients of New Paltz Dog Training for several years. We wanted to safely introduce our exuberant, people-loving pitbull to other dogs. I was hesitant at first — the whole pitbull thing — but Valerie and her crew are amazing. They are experts at dog group dynamics and provide a safe, fun environment for all the dogs. Mojo comes home relaxed and happy but not over tired. Adorable side effect: since going to day school, she has much more active dreams with lots of tail wagging and sleep running. She’s 9 now and shows no signs of slowing down thanks in large part to her twice weekly trips to New Paltz Dog Training and Canine Adventures.

The Ridge Tea - Coffee - Spice
9 N Chestnut St, New PaltzThis place has a great selection of teas. They carry astrology tea and since I am a Gemini I had to try it. Amazing. Fast forward to last week. I was bummed it wasn't in stock. Corrinne thought she had some in her stock and immediately put on her coat ( on a busy Saturday) and went to look. She felt so bad that she didn't find any, but was getting some in that week. She said she would ship it free of charge. But the best part is she had to be in Kingston anyway the next day and delivered it to me. I will be a customer whenever I go to New Paltz.

Lagusta's Luscious Café!
25 N Front St, New PaltzAlways amazing flavors and incredible quality, they are known for their chocolates but the food and drink are creative and delicious as well. My spouse joins on trips to the Hudson Valley specifically to come here, and with good reason. We treasure our Lagusta's purchases (and struggle to make them last!). Metered street parking isn't too bad and the seating and ambiance are really lovely inside and out.
Minus one star only for the irony of building such a marvelous temple to compassion, but choosing a location and prices that reserve access to the most privileged. I love this place now that I'm in a position to buy expensive chocolates and canvas shopping bags with quips about radicalism. I would have resented the hell out of it when I was poor.
I understand this is essentially a luxury goods store in a specialty market that has transcended many obstacles to reach success, but if they are living their expressed values, this could be better communicated.

Twin Star Orchards
155 N Ohioville Rd, New PaltzReserved a few days ahead for a 12:30 PM arrival time on a Saturday in early October. We actually just came for lunch, not to apple pick, so my rating is based on the food. They do sell apples (and much more) in the store. I tried the Margherita pizza, 3 mushroom white, and sausage special (housemade bratwurst). Pizzas were excellent. Brat was tasty but pretty small portion for the price (one link cut in half and some cornbread). Also got some of the cider doughnuts, which were good, but wish they were hot. You can get hot ones a few miles away at Jenkins-Lucien. Fresh cider was amazing!

The Parish
10 Main St #327, New PaltzCajun food in New Paltz NY? I was skeptical, but what we had was terrific! That night the only exception was the jambalaya which seemed overcooked and dry. But everything else was great, the five of us had a wide variety of appetizers and entrees. Too full for dessert. Next time! Easy parking, inside and outside deck seating options.

Robibero Winery
714 Albany Post Rd, New PaltzWe had a tasting and Kevin was AMAZING both with personality and recommendations for things to try. We then bought and shared a bottle of wine between three of us and sat on the deck for a while snacking and playing games and enjoying the atmosphere! They were setting up live music (but we left before that started). HIGHLY recommend if you want to try some good wine and good vibes
