“If I could give a million star rating I would. Dr. East saw our boy Todd first last week for what we hoped would be a routine check up, upon exam she immediately noted a large abdominal mass and recommended gold standard veterinary care and referrals. She handled our boy with kindness and compassion as well as discussing all of our options thoroughly and answering all of our questions. Yesterday we saw Dr. Ratcliff who also treated our sweet boy with the same dignity, respect, and high quality veterinary care. Completing the first steps of testing for his cancer diagnosis, and carefully selecting the medications he needed to be comfortable. She called us immediately upon receiving test results which unfortunately resulted in Todd’s final veterinary visit at the ER after hours. We were told where to go, what may happen, and Todd’s records were immediately sent out. This vet clinic is efficient, compassionate, and how every vet clinic should be modeled after from the technician’s fear-free approach, the doctor’s high quality of medicine, and the office staff’s efficiency. The office is clean and well thought out to be “fear free certified” which is just another sign of how important your animal’s experience is to this hospital’s staff. Because of this clinic, Todd did not suffer or feel any pain in his final days, and we are forever thankful for that. People like this vet hospital make the world a better place. Thank you.”

“My old vet wanted to charge me $1200 for teeth cleaning so I came to Rivergate because they only charged $500. When I came for the cleaning, the doctor said, “Who told you your dog needs a teeth cleaning? He has one tiny piece of plaque.” She clipped it off and said, “Done. “We were referred to Worth Street by a friend when our French Bulldog Ralph came down with a nasty bug that wasn't going away - we didn't have a vet in town as we spend half the year in a different state and that's where he's had all his shots, etc to date.We knew it wouldn't be cheap (any business in Taylor Swift's neighborhood is going to be on the ritzier side) so were prepared for that. The care was EXCEPTIONAL and Ralph left that day already feeling better. Would recommend the team to anyone in need of support for their animal.”

“It is VERY hard to get an appointment unless you call right when they open at 8am. We were able to & after a scheduled check up & blood work done, had a dental surgery set for my Chihuahua. They did a great job & Dr Relman personally called & kept us up to date with the procedure before & after as well as the after care. Staff was very friendly as well.”

“Before we adopted our puppy, Sonny, my husband and I visited four different vets in the neighborhood. From the moment we stepped inside the door to Heart of Chelsea, we got a good feeling about the place - not just because it’s such a well organized, “together” clinic, but mainly because of the people who work there. From the friendly front desk staff, to the dedicated veterinary assistants and knowledgeable vets, most everyone we’ve come into contact with here is professional, well-trained, and committed to providing compassionate care for animals. Plus they’re easy to reach, either by phone or email, and are generous with their time. So even though Heart of Chelsea is more expensive than other neighborhood vets, (it’s definitely a stretch for our budget being that we’re semi-retired performing artists) the quality of care we receive from them is well worth it.Since this is our first time raising a pup, (and turns out our little guy is very sensitive in nature – from his G.I. system to the way he experiences the world,) I especially appreciate the staff’s understanding when it comes to the human side of the equation, i.e., the emotional ups and downs that go along with the territory.In this regard, I would especially like to thank Sunny (they, them, their(s,) the veterinary assistant who we met at our first appointment 18 months ago. Whether we consult with them in person, or over the phone, they listen to our concerns with patience, kindness and genuine caring. By the end of our conversations, they always come up with practical, helpful suggestions that are based on a wealth of information and experience. Put simply, his sensitivity to our family had felt like a lifeline of support.The vets we’ve worked with so far, mainly Dr. Torchia and Dr. Profido are both excellent. I especially appreciate Dr. Torchia‘s mindset that one size doesn’t fit all - he has been both open and supportive of our life style choices concerning treatment and ongoing care for our pup. Dr. Profido’s emphasis on the educational component of our visits have been tremendously beneficial, i.e., by providing clear information and options, we’ve been able to make informed decisions that best suit our family’s needs.Also of note is the very positive experience we’ve had with Jen Abitino, the pet insurance specialist who helped us find a plan that would work for us. She’s also incredibly efficient about submitting our claims, and a pleasure to work with.Finally, this review would be incomplete without saying that whenever I call with a question, concern or even just to make an appointment, I’m always happy when Jahaira picks up the phone at the front desk. She’s gone out of her way to make our experiences at Heart of Chelsea seamlessly supportive.”

“In spring 2019, my puppy was attacked and bitten in the face. They arranged for us to be seen very quickly. Dr Lauren seemed very caring and patient. 4 instead of 5 stars because they separated me from my dog to clip the wound area and flush it. I would have preferred to stay with her. Will go back there. It was clean and the staff were helpful and nice.Jan 2020: Last week I went back to the clinic when my dog had an ear infection. Dr Lauren moved to California so I saw Dr. Rutherford. She was kind, gentle, patient and thorough.Two things stood out:1. At the time of the visit, my pup was also due for shots but they could not administer all on them at the same day so Dr Rutherford arranged for the next round of shots to given by a nurse - no appt necessary and no visit fee.2. Dr Rutherford phoned three days after our visit to check up on how my pup was doing. It was a nice touch and I plan to make her my pup's primary caretaker in the future.Highly recommended!”

“So today I went to go to the vetenarian to get my cat her vaccines. When I walked in a heard a very strange noise, almost like a growl but it sounded different. I was a little startled but figured it was just a large dog, everything seemed normal until the veterinarian told me to follow her… what I saw next I cannot even put into words, this was single handedly the most villainous, frightful and just down right pernicious thing I have ever seen: I will attach a photo to show what I saw but I am still in shock. Fortunately, I later found out that they ended up saving the Gorilla, so I will definitely be returning. This is an experience I will never forget.”

“Loved my experience here at Downtown Veterinary clinic with Dr. Ficarro. It was our first visit (she came recommended by a friend who has 2 dogs), and it was a follow up after my dog had to go to emergency.Firstly her team were organized. Paperwork I had emailed was organized neatly into a folder ready to go on first visit.Follow calls were made to make sure we knew our visit time.On first meet, Dr. Ficarro was calm, kind and direct to the point. She asked me smart questions, read the follow up notes from the emergency visit, and treated my dog with kindness. Our visit was easy and address the issues at hand. She asked us about my dog’s general health, gave him an overall check up. The whole visit was easy. I left feeling welcomed, heard and at ease.It was a bonus that her all girl team were on top of everything as well.
