“My wife and I made a trip to Asheville for our 40th anniversary celebration. Lexington Glassworks was on our list of things to do. You will not be disappointed!! Awesome group of people and unbelievably talented! I could have sat there and watched the glass blowers all day. We picked out a few pieces to commemorate our trip and anniversary. All have found prominent spots in our home and we love each piece. Mine favorite is the hand blown whiskey glass and somehow it just makes whatever it holds taste better!!”
“The space is stunning, the artwork is amazing, and the people who own it are friendly and approachable. This gallery sells fine art. The art is beautiful and interesting. While I haven’t bought anything yet, I’ve always felt welcomed. It genuinely feels like a museum in the fact that it’s not crowded with a bunch of art for sale. Each piece is given its space. The owners are very knowledgeable about the art. They’re happy to talk about the art. It just feels wonderful in there, and is an asset to our city. If you are just visiting Asheville, you should stop by this gallery. If you live in Asheville and like fine art, by all means, you should go downtown and check it out.”

“Very wide cross-section of local artists work. Something for all tastes. Very open and easy to navigate through such a large building. Really appreciated the website that allowed me to roam all the corridors and actually check out individual artists areas.”
“Whenever we go to Asheville (we live about an hour and a half away)- whether its a concert, big event or visiting friends, we ALWAYS stop in to this store. I stock up on Christmas presents, birthday gifts, just- cuz gifts and we have even decorated our nursery with items from here. The pricing is BEYOND reasonable, you can see the forethought in the curation of art from the selection process to display in the store.
We have been patrons here for 6 plus years and I can honestly say, this store would bankrupt me if I lived closer. It feels like a great representation of the variety of artists/subject matters/mediums/culture of the city.”
“Such a cool find!! Happily stumbled upon this store while on vacation and was so pleased with all the cool finds. Many different local and handmade works owned by different artists and stores all wrapped in one! Must stop in if you’re in town. My favorite was these cute planters- I had to have one”
“When downtown or especially when folks are visiting from out of town, this is a spot I love to spend a good hour or two admiring, and often purchasing, the 175 artists’ work. There’s also a restored ice cream/soda counter which makes strolling this historic building it even more fun! One of my favorite places in the city!”
“New Morning Gallery is one of those places that makes browsing feel like part of the fun. The space is larger than it first appears, with room after room of handmade art that really does seem to go on and on. You will find everything from jewelry and glass to ceramics, furniture, and small gifts, with pieces at a wide range of prices so it works whether you are looking for something special or just a small souvenir.
What stands out is how thoughtfully everything is curated. The work comes from American artists and feels both creative and usable, not just decorative. It is the kind of place where you can wander and keep spotting things you did not notice at first. We have decorated our own home with several pieces from here over the years, and they are still some of our favorites.
On our most recent trip, we found the perfect purple ceramic bowl for my mom, her favorite color, and it turned out to be a gift she truly loved. She has happily made it the centerpiece of her dining room table, which says a lot about both the piece and the gallery. The staff made the experience easy and pleasant, being friendly and helpful without hovering.
When you are visiting Asheville or looking for something special for your home, New Morning Gallery is a special, one of a kind place to find it.”
“Our large painting (~43” x 30” framed) had fallen off the wall. The gold leafed frame was damaged and the glass had broken. We took it to Blackbird Frame & Art for repair.
The shop was spacious, with large work surfaces. We were attended to promptly, and the professional framer analyzed the damage. She politely explained their process for repair, the cost, and gave a two week time frame.
Our heirloom painting was repaired beautifully, conserving the original linen mat and gold leafed frame. We were satisfied with the whole experience.”
“Wanted to have a birthday experience with a friend. The 1 on 1 lessons are totally worth it. Helpful Instructor and our pieces are great, for a couple amateurs! (if we do say so ourselves)
They fire and glaze for you, but have quite a few types of classes and workshops, and pieces for sale if that what you want. Check em out. Parking stinks but it's Asheville, walking is the way if you can.”
“Only there to check out the river, murals, graffiti, and artwork. It was very peaceful, and the people I encountered were friendly. Would love to go back during the weekend when it's busier to eat and gang out”
“Such an amazing and inspiring experience. You cannot visit this open art studio and not leave without some piece of art in your hand. You also cannot visit here and not leave without the urge to create, inspire and find your own purpose within the art community. Loved walking through here!”
“Wonderful gallery with a wide range of beautiful handmade works of art, some for displaying, and some that are functional. You can find everything from wall art, pottery, and wood turned bowls to fine handmade heirloom furniture. Make sure not to miss the free car museum and fabric weaving museums in adjacent buildings.”
“Alexandria, Anthony, Shawn, Donovan, David, are all laborers of Love. It's been a pleasure to get to know them so far and I look forward to the future. ??”
“Find this place if you love art. It is nestled in the River Arts District. i came last Christmas and went to
the gallery and was amazed. by the collective arts of several artists in here.
i purchased a two day workshop in encaustic painting for myself and a friend with Bridget Benton.
it was amazing!
The workshop came with all the tools and supplies needed and each workspace was completely set up. Bridget is an experienced artist and instructor. Her handouts were well organized and the materials were top quality.
I enjoyed the small classroom size of 5 students which provided for 1:1 instruction and we could see other students work. Everyone was happy with their work.”
“This is such a fun shop to wander through! They have a very large selection of craft items by many different artists. We went in October and they had some fun Halloween themed items including lovely mobiles made from wood that had origami bats hanging off of them- bat mobiles- get it? That made me smile. They were also starting to bring out their Christmas crafts- it would be a great place to shop for Christmas decorations!”
“Such a great collection of skillfully made woodcraft. This lovely gallery is full of bowls, cutting boards, boxes , jewelry and other woodworks. They will make you pieces if you want to commission something you have always wanted in beautiful wood. Tables, benches, stools or sculpture— they have it.”
“A great place to see a variety of artists at work with their pieces for sale. Potters, painters, jewelers, clothiers, glass blowers - all in one block. Much talent here catering to a variety of tastes.”
“I'm madly in love with this place! I already have two of their knomes. The Resident artist or owner actually made one to order for me. I'm coming back for one for my third house. I'm convinced they provide calm karma to their space. Karen Knight”
“Wonderful folks working here and interesting work. I left feeling inspired and creatively invigorated for the new year. Will definitely be back in to enjoy the book collection.”
“Daniel is so talented, and this beautiful three-floor gallery space is a real testament to that talent! We really enjoyed getting to talk to him about his process - he is a true artist and also an incredible down to earth, friendly and smart person. We hope to be able to commission a painting from him someday!”

“Susan is so patient, creative and thoughtful in her design process. You must stop in and see the beauty she creates with rings, earrings and necklaces - you will not be disappointed!”
“While I did not have as much time as I would have preferred to spend in shop, I had a very pleasant experience speaking to the young woman who attended to me while I was exploring jewelry here. Overall, I found this gallery shop to have a beautiful assortment of items from local artists--especially jewelry, textiles, and woodworking. I'm sure I will enjoy my moonstone earrings for many years to come. I was hoping to find a pair just like it.”
“Have known and been working with Alan for over 5 years. His first creation for us was the entry way to our mountain home. He created 9 separate stained glass panels that made up a scene of a tree in the door branching out to side panels with different hues of brown and greens that included a pileated wood pecker and cardinal. The late afternoon sun makes the entry way come alive. Many afternoons I find the best chair and watch the transformation. Alan is a Master Craftsman. His work ranges from small cute sun catchers to detailed, elegant, masterful entry ways and window pieces. His most recent work for us has been the restoration of wrought iron deck end tables that were weathered and worn. He created new table tops with glass encased colorful humming birds. They will elevate and enhance the deck into our outdoor living room. Helene devastated Alan's home and business. His resilience and determination are equaled by his talent and skill. You will never be disappointed.”
“My husband and I got to do the glass blowing experience. It was a lot of fun and something I highly recommend doing when your in town. Max was our instructor and he was amazing. He did great explaining everything and making sure or handmade stuff didn’t look like someone who has never done this before made our cup and paper wait. I can’t wait to come back to do it again the next time we are in town. I also recommend just checking this place out even if you dont have time to do the glass blowing experience. They have some really cool stuff. They definitely have something for everyone.”
