Unleashed, the Dog & Cat Store
2 S Front St, WilmingtonI went to this store while visiting family in NC. I was greeted with a warm hello. The store is clean and has many options for pets and people. I had bought a shirt, and realized after I washed it, it had an issue. I called the store, they said they would exchange it. I live in NJ and I mailed it out. I was sent a replacement within the week. When I called, a woman Isabelle was very professional and helpful. There was no problem with me sending and doing the exchange. I recommend this store. It is a fun store too. My next trip to NC, I will be sure to stop in and support the business. Never seen such friendly people who love their job. Like I said I am in NJ, you do not see friendly people at all really.

They have only cut my nails so far. But I much prefer them doing it to the other places I have been to. They are fast and I hardly know they are doing it. And they give me treats.
My dad takes me there to use their self serve dog wash, which is pretty handy. And sometimes buys me a toy from inside.

Grooming By Jess
118 S Kerr Ave suite e, WilmingtonI recently got my first puppy, Stella, a long-haired miniature dachshund. I was extremely nervous to leave her anywhere because I didn’t know how she would do. When I walked through the door, I immediately felt at ease. Jess was so attentive, and Stella immediately felt at home. She was able to roam and play instead of being locked up in a kennel. I am extremely happy with the customer service and quality work done by Jess. Thank you!

Bark Avenue Pet Salon
1637 Wellington Ave, WilmingtonThere are A LOT of groomers in very dog-friendly Wilmington NC. However, there's only one Bark Avenue and Christy. The premises are always spotless and Christy's wonderful little boy (Boo-Boo) patters about spreading calm and cheer to the clients. No racks of terrified pups awaiting their turn here, just a quiet, welcoming efficiency hangs in the air.
Christy herself is outstanding at her craft PLUS she listens carefully to what owners want done and always follows through. She is friendly, knowledgeable and highly professional. Finally, Christy is great at predicting what time your pup will be ready and, if she's held up for some reason, she lets you know in plenty of time. Howver, this almost never happens.
My pups, Mimi & Madeline always look great when I pick them up, and most importantly, they do not appear stressed in the least.
Bark Avenue is by far the best choice for your pet in this city.
Very highly recommended. Thank you Christy!

Pet Care

Leonard-Sykes Hospital for Pets
908 S Kerr Ave, WilmingtonI have been taking my dogs to Leonard Sykes since I moved here almost 6 years ago. I lost 1 of my dogs during that time to heart failure- Dr. Sykes was amazing throughout the entire treatment and I was blessed to have an extra 1.5 years I didn't think I would get. I have continued service with them since then with Beauby and each time the front desk staff is amazing- friendly, they genuinely care about you and your fur babies. Both doctors are down to earth and genuinely care for the animals. Pricing is affordable. No surprise charges. Visits are quick with zero wait time. I am grateful to have such an amazing team caring for my fur babies. Thank you!

Wellspring Holistic Veterinary Care
3150 Wrightsville Ave, WilmingtonThe most incredible vet in Wilmington! So beyond grateful for how much he cares for Bella and all pets. Bella suffered a horrible side effect from a drug called PosaTex that another vet prescribed to her which caused her to go 100% deaf in both of her ears. It was absolutely devastating and she was so miserable and confused for over a week. She also had a double ear infection. No one was willing to help. Dr Kerr was able to fit her in promptly and he recommended Ozone therapy. Within 24 hours of her first treatment, Bella’s hearing had significantly improved and her infection is almost gone at recheck that she has been fighting for over a month. Dr Kerr has truly saved us! We are so thankful her hearing is coming back. He also has checked in on us multiple times to see how she’s doing. Thank you so much!

Wilmington Animal Healthcare: Ward Stacy DVM
6801 Gordon Rd, WilmingtonI saw another post about not having your previous pets records. They had all my pets records when I arrived because I provided that information for them. It is your responsibility as a pet owner to have all that set up. Not the vets. As when you have a child you provide all previous child's records so the Doctors know. Don't blame the Dr for your lack of pet ownership. And having all the paperwork of your pets issues.

Off Leash K9 Training, LLC
5202 Carolina Beach Rd #17, WilmingtonI would highly recommend Kristin Roberts, trainer at K9 Off Leash Training in Wilmington. I have two 1-year old Labrador Retrievers, Cooper and Scout, who needed some intense, immersive training. They were really bad at pulling on the leash when walking, jumping up, and being reactive to the smallest distractions. I decided on a 2-week board and train with Kristin. I was a bit skeptical at first that the training would not be enough to get them to change. But after Cooper’s 2-weeks with Kristin, I was amazed. She was so good with him. Would Scout be the same way? Oh yes, he was the same way. I was in disbelief. How did she do that! Needless to say, my boys now listen and follow commands a lot better than before. Another note about how great Kristin is: she had both of my boys on their first birthdays. They were born within a week of each other. Knowing this was a special day, Kristin went out and bought a birthday “pupcake” for both of my boys on their first birthday, along with a candle. Kristin videoed each of the boys as she sang Happy Birthday to them and presented them with their “pupcake!” That’s what I call going over and above the call of duty. If you ever need any assistance with training your pets, I would highly recommend Kristen Roberts with K9 Off Leash Training in Wilmington! You will not be sorry!

2517 Park Ave, WilmingtonThis was a great experience for me and my dog. Lainie was super friendly and knowledgeable. My dog is very reactive and afraid of people but by the end of our first visit he was following Lainie around and when I left to go to my car instead of waiting by the door for me (as usual) I came back to find him again following Lainie. I'm so glad I brought him to see her. I booked my next sessions before I left her studio. As an added bonus when he showed interest in some agility equipment she had she let him give it a try and he followed her instructions to the letter.

Six weeks later he “graduated” with so much confidence and so did I! We are looking forward to the next level class. Julie has a wealth of knowledge about dogs and their behavior and teaches owners how to think like a dog which makes learning how to work with them so much fun. Recently, I decided to try their boarding service for the first time, and it was a remarkable experience. I could even watch him on camera, which gave me peace of mind. My wife and I shared a couple of appetizers and a pizza. The spinach dip was creamy and perfectly balanced and the bread was toasted without being hard. The shrimp salad sliders were good, the toasted buns were a nice touch.
We chose the fig and gorgonzola pizza and it was delicious.
