400 Winston Ave, Ottawa“I did their sausage making class a couple of weeks ago. I created 5 pounds of pork sausage and just tried some last night. Delicious! Dave showed us everything required to make an awesome sausage.”
“This is by far the cleanest & most organized African/Caribbean store in Ottawa. And one of the cleanest stores, period. I always have an awesome experience shopping here. The items on the shelves are of excellent quality and variety. The store owner is always very courteous & pleasant as well.”
“Clean, well organized store AND they sell “Radius” toothbrushes there (those are hard to find, excellent toothbrushes)! *They need to also sell the refills. ? I highly recommend this particular Kardish location! ???????”
“I can't believe it took me over a decade being in Ottawa to give this place the credit it deserves ? I thought it was a Thai grocery store with few Vietnamese items but I was so wrong. I was able to find all Vietnamese stable items at great prices! The people there seem nice (at least they weren't yelling and disrespecting their staff, which was the reason why I stopped supporting another Vietnamese grocery store since change of ownership). I'm really curious about their background story ? they seem to speak Thai, Vietnamese, Cantonese and English.”
9:30AM - 9PM
725 Somerset St W, Ottawa“Great little market with excellent home made hummus and baba-ganoush asking other things. A real boon to the neighbourhood, complementing other markets in the area.”
“I just found this place after moving here from GTA. I can tell you this is the best latin store - I found to date and I've gone to many around souther Ontario and Quebec. Outstanding selection, delicious ready to eat food and baked goods, clean and lovely service. Even if you are not Latin definitely worth a stop to try fresh goodies.”
“I shopped here for the first time today. I felt a little bit like I was in a dream just from how impressed I was by the entire store. First of all the selection is astounding, I think they carry pretty much anything you can think of. I felt like I was traveling abroad. And the atmosphere of the store is so cozy and inviting. They have full carts of discounted produce so I walked out with groceries for the week for $32! In this economy!!! I will 100% be shopping here every week now”
“I avoided this place for along time, because I thought it was unaffordable. However they have deals here & there. Plus the quality should be considered in the affordability question, because the fruits bought at the budget stores need throwing out a third of the time. If you're on a budget just be strategic with what you buy here, it's a lovely store. Great fruit vegetables & meat... the turkey is super affordable here for some reason ?”
10AM - 6PM
1101 Wellington St. W, Ottawa“Luqman is a skilled, knowledgable and kind butcher who is always happy to help me order what I need! The meat is fresh and great quality. All the staff are so kind and friendly. Best grocer and butcher in downtown Ottawa.”
“It has a free outdoor parking lot, it is always possible to find fresh vegetables, also bakery products, meat, milk, legumes and canned goods, in short, a market that can meet all our needs regarding food. The staff is clean and tidy, polite and helpful.”
“I love going to this place. Their butcher shop always has fresh meat and they prepare it however u like. Lots of other arabic food as well (olives and cheese) and groceries. I noticed their prices are actually cheaper than other arabic stores in the area! Highly recommend it.”
9AM - 10PM
595 Gladstone Ave, Ottawa“Domestics food is an institution. Hadi treats customers as if they were family. A Chocolate Bar selection second to none, Faygo Soda, & a stocked freezer of Ben & Jerry's, what more could you want.”
9AM - 9PM
50 Rideau St, Ottawa“The Rideau Center location is great if you want to take the LRT to get your groceries though it is a little smaller than other locations, they still have plenty of selection.”
7AM - 10PM
344 Bell St S, Ottawa“This is not really a review of the grocery, but instead of the people. I lived in the Ridgeview Apartment building down the street in 1981-82. Rod Abbas and his brother (whose name I've forgotten) were good and kind people, who deserved to be remembered for that kindness.”
8AM - 10PM
2515 Bank St, Ottawa“Never had an issue coming here, they have a 30% rack no one seems to know about it. I you can find a lot of stuff on there for a great deal and often 2-4$ for items normal 7-10$. Staff good, no complaints. Location is great, parking has never been an issue either. The food they make in house goes on sale between 5-7 I'm quite certain, usually for about 5-10$ depending on what it is. South keys metro is good for shopping, just expensive at times.”
“I love the selection of health foods they have at this store. The service is always friendly and the staff are always happy to help me find something if I need assistance.”
8AM - 9PM
193 Metcalfe St, Ottawa“Got a teriyaki bowl from their teriyaki station, and it was literally so good! Fantastic lunch for under $10–grilled fresh in front of you! Only reason for four stars is because it was overwhelmingly busy in the grocery store, though this food deserves 5/5 easily.”
10AM - 8:30PM
62 Wylie Ave, Ottawa“Packed grocery store with interesting finds. I got hibiscus powder! Hot samosas up front. It's quite tight and unkempt. Go for the groceries, not the atmosphere.”
9AM - 10PM
275B Laurier Ave. E, Ottawa“I read about this place a few weeks ago and stopped in today for the first time. What a gem! Super nice and clean. Super nice staff (the man at the cash and the woman at the deli counter). The take-home samosas and onion bhaji are far better than anything you would get at Metro or Loblaws. The take-out the feta and tomato calzone was delicious. We will be back - and soon.”
8AM - 9PM
585 Montréal Rd, Ottawa“I like the fact that the products are fresh, they have a variety of very tasty ready made food and a large choice of cheeses. The only negative is that the store is small and feels cramped when shopping.”
“When I first started going there, I would buy chocolate and other one of a kind snacks/drinks you can't find elsewhere. I slowly started buying some merguez, frozen gyro slices, frozen store-made hamburgers. All quality. We love their name-brand chocolate milk, nut varieties. The staff is generous and welcoming. The reason I'm here today is to say both my son and I tried a new product they carry. ZWEET GUMMIES, ZOO ANIMALS. We both highly recommend them!!! I would say run to the store and get some before they have none left. Highly addictive.”
“Cedars is a reliable local grocery store, with friendly staff, reasonable prices and a good selection- including some hard to find specialty items. In spring and summer they also carry a variety of plants. My only complaint is that the selection of fresh bread could be better, but I love that this store is in old Ottawa South.”
“I love shopping at Food Africana Shop. After shopping here a few times, these are some the reasons you should as well;1)Neat2)Affordable prices3) Amazing Customer Service.4)Accessible5)Owner’s listen and care about their customers.Keep up the great work Food Africana Shop :)”

It also has prepped food such as mutton rolls, samosas, spicy meat rotis, and other Sri Lankan and south Indian appetizers.”
